  • Beachbody's workout programs are thoroughly legit, researched and grounded in sports science. If followed, they work. The key is doing one you enjoy and that lines up with your fitness goals. Body Beast is good stuff.
  • Keep in mind that fat is a bit over two times more calorie dense than carbs and protein, and as such, informs your calorie goals. So while you may be under in hitting carb and protein goals, a fat overage of just 9 grams could be stretching you beyond your calorie goal by almost 100. That said, the fat may just equal out…

  • Perhaps, but I'm wondering. No doubt your metabolism has slowed at this point, which again... has me wondering.
  • Fruit 4-ev-a. Prep, rightly or wrongly amongst so many "prep" disciplines, does some wonky stuff in peak weeks in efforts to manipulate aesthetics. Abolishing fruit forever is senseless because it's simply not "bad".

  • Feel you. This sounds exactly like post show competitors mentality- having come off deprivation, fat accumulates like crazy with any return to "normal eating". I know people crap on "reverse dieting" but there's something to it. Should you be within your macros, I can't see how some foods, while not others, would force fat…
  • Lawd a'mighty, that looks heavenly. First snow, I'm indulging. Because Maple.
  • The syrup is gross... like a maple tree fell in a chemical plant retention pond. Their BBQ sauce isn't bad but wears out its welcome pretty quick. That said, real maple syrup is about 53g of carb per 1/4 cup serving. Who the poop is using that much maple syrup. Halving/Quartering that serving size into a TBSP or two will…
  • I plan to enjoy the bleepity bleep out of Thanksgiving. The long game demands it.
  • Yep. That's exactly what I'm saying. Fast for 2 weeks, eat as much food as you can pack down for one day and then starve for 2 more weeks. C'mon, man.
  • Ok... why not level out those calories throughout the week...?
  • But do they sound good? I prefer my beats thick and meaty, like my hamburgers.
  • It can definitely help, lots of people do it- and if it works for you... fantastico! That said, sustainability appreciates putting "cheat foods" into your daily caloric allowances and makes food "fun" rather than "endured".
  • Entries can be all jacked up. Seldom a day when my calories equal out to my macros. I simply focus on macros and let calories fall where they may (which is typically negligible).
  • I cope with enjoying the poop out of it. In reality, there's only a couple days over the 30 day span that are any different in "foods available"- and 10-20% consumption of "overage" and "splurge" doesn't make much of a dent in 80% consistency. Keep those fun holiday foods in calorie, enjoy a couple days of revelry and keep…
  • The fruit/veggie shakes have no magical weight loss properties. They're simply calories. They're NUTRITIOUS calories, but they're not, in and of themselves being made and consumed, going to torch fat. Track your calories and exercise PATIENCE. 5 days isn't much time for anything to genuinely manifest. This weight loss…
  • I'm going to assume you're good on tracking. Do it-- regardless, you're still, as you stated, in a deficit. If it fails, you can always drop again. Give it a couple weeks. Experience: Stalled. Plateaued. Wasn't going anywhere at the same deficit. Added calories, while still in deficit, started shedding fat like crazy at…
  • They can be used as part and parcel of glute training (or even exclusively-- it's resistance after all)... but many glorious glutes have been built to rounded and bulbous perfection before bands became the new training hotness. PS- This is rad: https://www.instagram.com/p/-CrxSITNqY/
  • Keep in mind these magazines are very sensational. IE- "Eat all the chocolate and send your workout into overdrive for destination Sexyville!" Also, did the blurb define HOW MUCH better the chocolate eating athletes workouts were? Often in these studies we're talking small, small, small percentages. If you want…
  • It'll be beneficial if you need a lot of protein and are striving to meet that goal. Beyond that, it's just a supplement without magical properties. In short, it won't throw muscle on your arms. Working your muscles will. Whey protein can help in retention and repair as part of a protein protocol but yeah- it's just…
  • Bananas must be so sad. Always maligned as fast-digesting sugar bombs... and yet all they want to do is deliver you energy, potassium, fiber (which blunts sugar effects), Vitamin C and more. They're simply a carb- and a nutritional one. And as Gandhi* and Abraham Lincoln* always said: "If a nutritional carb fits... EAT…
  • As a man, I can unequivocally state 10% isn't really all that hard (unless you believe patience and time/persistence is hard) and can be attained exactly as stated above.
  • In the immortal words of Mr. Ice Cube: Do Ya Thang. Experiment and find what works best for you. Then go forth and conquer.
  • At first I was like, ok. Then I was like, huh? And then I was like, what the what? And then I blacked out because I hit my head too hard against my phone screen. Know you mean well, but that's an over generalized,ill-conceived brocommendation.
  • I just punched your guilt in its rhetorical face. It apologized. You should be feeling better in no time.
  • Macros are based on fitness and aesthetic goals, typically. By counting macros, you are also counting calories, as macros should first and foremost align with a calorie goal aligned with your weight loss/gain goal. If it's only fat loss you're after, calories have you covered.
  • 2500 calories is no joke. I'm 6' 1" at 2900ish and doing IIFYM. Leanest I've ever been. That said, it's taken almost a year of gradual work and tweaking. Not to say your goals will take the same but it's definitely a process . Macro tracking works in a real world, sustainable way... and with your split, you'll be killing…
  • Not that anyone asked but... Powdered PB is the devil. Tastes like watered down sugar powder with watered down peanut extract. Real PB or bust! To your point... why not, before eating PB, plug that thick, sweet n smoky stuff into your calories first so you know where it takes you? Proactivity FTW!
