It may not be for you, but I have been intermittent fasting for some time now which has helped me avoid those late night hungers. It may sound strange, but the body adapts to the fast and evening hunger is actually reduced. I have a green tea as my last drink of the day, and I also avoid carbs as much as possible in the…

Gained a pound over the first week of SXSW, with the combo of poor food choices during the day and not being able to get to my morning workouts. This week I have gotten back on track and gave that pound back. 🙂

I met my current wife online. I started dating after 20 years in my first marriage. It was a bit daunting at times, but I took things slow, dated quite a number of people, and had four different dating relationships over a nine year period before I met my current spouse. We had been married now for almost ten years. It…

My wife and I volunteer as Conference Audio/Visual Techs, it is a lot of fun and energizing as we are working together with much younger people in a very positive and energetic environment.

I've been volunteering at SXSW, we have been heading out at 6:30am and we get home about 7:00pm. Long days, but a lot of fun. I missed my Monday workout because of the scheduling, but got down this morning. It felt good to hit the weights. My food intake has been challenging as the food choices we are offered as volunteers…

Hang in there and don’t beat yourself up too bad. Remember it’s one day at a time. March is a new month and a new beginning!
-
Welcome all to March! My goal for this month is to continue to lose 1/2 lb a week and to focus on cholesterol reduction by increasing my fiber intake to 30gms/day and limit red meat intake to one 4-6 oz serving with the goal of bringing my cholesterol levels from high to borderline. Wishing everyone a marvelous month!

My goal for this month is to continue to lose 1/2 lb a week and to focus on cholesterol reduction. The small, actionable steps I plan to take towards this goal is to increase my fiber intake to 30gms/day and limit red meat intake to one 4-6oz serving per week. My reminder or cue to keep up with my habit is to log all food…

Welcome Jared, although I am 66 yo and 6'2", we are close to the same initial weights and goals. I started back on a nutrition and fitness plan in the fall. I was at 218 initially, and now I am down to 190, with 185 being my goal weight. I do weight HIIT M-W-F, and cardio T-T-S, with Sunday being my free day. My fitness…

Good conversation, one thing that was very helpful for me starting off was to work with a nutritionist to develop a healthy and sustainable nutritional plan. My health plan, and that of both my wife's and daughter's offer a nutritionist consult. This was a huge help for me, and the long term accountability with the…

I concur with nossmf, most gyms will provide a trial period, along with an introductory tour and orientation on the equipment. Most gyms also offer personal training, and mobile apps to track your progress. Convenience is a big factor for me, along with a clean and well equipped gym. I currently do HIIT at my local Y,…

I find that an early morning workout works best for me as I get it done before a lot of other distractions kick in. Plus, I feel that the endorphins kicking in carry me through the morning and I feel more productive. I get to the gym just before 6:00am to beat the morning rush, and do a 44 to 66 minute HIIT circuit and eat…

Tremendous accomplishment! Congratulations on your anniversary, you are an inspiration to all!

Thanks everyone for your kind words of support. @77tes Thanks for sharing your fiber logs, have you seen a reduction in your LDL cholesterol with your increase in fiber? @BodyTalking I envy your ability to juggle the sweets into your diet, I have never been able to splurge more than a couple of times a year without paying…

The BioAge is from the fitness analysis with eGym training system that I use at my gym. It is a great way to track your fitness progress.

@77tes Thank you for keeping this blog going. Strength workouts are fantastic for CV health, and certainly make one feel good as well. I do Strength HIIT MWF mornings, it is a fast and great way to start the day. Keep ringing the bell!

It's tough giving up something that has been a part of our routine for a long time. I have struggled with giving up honey with my coffee. I have found a fairly acceptable substitute with Cinnamon and Nutmeg. It is not as sweet, obviously, but it does smoothen out the coffee taste. Perhaps there is a spice that will help to…

My 2025 goal is to reach my goal weight of 185 and maintain it as well as obtain my Certified Personal Trainer certification. I am within 11 pounds of my goal weight so I hope to reach it by the end of March. Along with the weight loss I have brought my bio age down considerably in 2024 and I’m feeling pretty good about…

Great December challenge. Just dropped under 200lbs for the first time in quite a while, it surprised me that I was able to get through the Thanksgiving break without too much difficulty. 15 lb loss over the past three months. Feeling pretty good! Hoping to continue the course through the Christmas holidays.

It doesn't look like this group is too active, however, as I fit the description as skinny fat, I thought I would post to see if there is any interest. I am currently 6'2", and 202lbs, with a BMI of 25.9. I have been working out regularly for about a month now, and making good progress with my fitness level, but really…

Making good progress with my fitness level, but really need to work on my metabolism and flexibility. BTW, my actual age is 66.

I am returning to MFP after a long hiatus. My weight has been slowly creeping up, but more importantly, my cholesterol levels have been elevated as well. I cannot take statins and my insurance company refused to authorize Repatha, so I am forced to control it with diet and exercise. My mini goal is to get my cholesterol…
