  • Started as a carnivore on January 8 and stuck to stuck to it for 20 days. I watched my caloric intake keeping it 1700 ish. I also did IF 14:10 as i have a bad habit of snacking in evenings. Lost 3 lbs and that was the first 5 days. Then nothing, which frustrated me. I felt bloated. On the 29th I started keto with 25 %…
  • Sure I will give it a go. I need a good month to encourage me to behave during xmas season. Wish every one success. November Start Weight:198 November Goal Weight:185 Ultimate Goal Weight:155 Nov 1 : 198 Nov 8: Nov 15: Nov 22: Nov 29: Nov 30:
  • Lack of sleep does cause me to stop losing weight and gain. I maintain a calorie count of 1700 or less. When I go onto night shift my weight loss ends. I do not eat more or change the type of food. I eat high protein- low carb. This week I had 3 night shifts in a row. I managed about 3 hrs of sleep every morning after…
  • Avoid the all or none attitude. I know its hard when you are away from a controlled enviroment. If you had a bad day remember tomorrow is a new day. Give yourself food that you do enjoy just smaller portions. Good luck

  • Check Dr berg on youtube. He suggests that half your plate should be vegetables along with suggests.
  • @ NovusDies My body does not forgive for one bad day. It takes four days of strict menu 1500 Cal) and exercise to recover. I realize that it is water and salt, but tell that to my body. Last birthday a Wednesday 3400 calories= +4lb. It took till Monday to get back to morning weight.
  • Thank you all for your advice. There are some really good ideas. Summer has always been hard on me when it comes to weight loss, in that it doesn't happen. I am determined to be successful this time. My first serious test will be at the family reunion at the end of June. I will take it all under consideration.
  • I too have plans to only gett ing down to 155. I acheived this wieght once before and maintained it for 5 years. All the while i tried to lose more but couldn't. That failure resulted in depression and major weight gain. I would love to have that weight problem again. I looked good and technically felt good except it was…
  • I personally like to stay on a plan. It gives me structure and focus. This summer I went off plan and tried to just eat healthy. Didn't work for me. I started to slip and gained weight. Thank god it was only 9 pounds, but it has been a pain to get off. So I am now on Day 3 of my plan. I am using an older version of the…
  • Regarding my mini goal. I participated in the local 5 km walk yesterday. I did it in 48 minutes. It appears that what I thought I was training was 5km, was actually 4.2 km. I came in second, and was beaten by a lady who was 1/2 my age and 60 lbs lighter. Not bad... and today my legs are hurting. Tomorrow I will walk again.
  • I have been losing since November 2017. I made it down to 50 lb lose but was hoping to be 60 less by this time. Anyways my mini goal is happening tomorrow when I will be participating in the spring sprint. While I won't be sprinting I will be walking the 5 km and hoping to do it 40 minutes or less. I am currently at 43 and…
  • for me its now 2 sacks of flour
  • Its not scientific but I view it as 1 calorie for every 2 reps. So today I did 6 exercises...3 sets of each... 12 reps per set (divided by 2) result 108 calories. This works for me and my body is happy.
  • My biggest challenge is trying to not negotiate my way out of a work out. Today I failed in that I was planning to do 26 minutes on the elliptical instead I quit at 19 minutes. I told myself that I was on my feet for almost 8 hrs and I had done 45 minutes of weight training. Poor excuse for me. Tomorrow I will do the…
  • Totally relate to how you feel. I have the same challenge when it comes to my friends who eat healthier, other times I am that person with two squares. I work as a cashier in a grocery store in the evenings. After 7:30 pm a third of my shoppers are buying junk food. While they range in all sizes, many more appear to be in…
  • I rarely add salt to my cooking much to the consternation of my friends and family when I have them over. My salt is already in the foods I am preparing...i.e hoisin sauce, soya, deli meat, processed foods. I can only do so much in from scratch cooking.
  • I agree that certain food choices are your decision. There are times when a person has limited choices its a very bland world out there steamed chicken breast, fish or any meat are too limiting and not exactly tasty. The hoisin sauce was a recipe requirement to make something taste and not a regular thing. In order for me…
  • I do not have a medical reason to reduce salt. MFP has me limited to 2300 and I am usually 1200 to 1500 over that. I just feel that I should be reducing my intake. Its hard when 1 tbsp of oyster sauce has 2500 not including the whats in rest of the meal.
  • Why are you limiting yourself to 300 calories for breakfast. Your body would appreciate a little more. you have just gone through 8 + hours without eating and now you think your body would be satisfied with a measly 300. Would you do the same if your last meal was at noon and next meal at 8 pm?. Part of the problem people…
  • A while back a found these jeans that fit me nice and were on sale. I liked them so much I bought a second pair one size smaller. This week I retired the first pair and pulled out the smaller size out of the closet. I few other pants waiting for my future success.
  • It is hard to lose weight when you are not getting enough sleep. At the weight you are I think that you are not eating enough. You will still get fantastic results if you eat a minimum of 1500 to 1920 cal. You are waking up hungry. I had the same problem and I would have to make myself a snack in the middle of the night. I…
  • When I was younger one of my more successful diet attempts was to calorie count and daily exercise. If I behaved that day I would treat myself to 2 fudgeo cookies (150 calories) and a cup of tea to dunk. My roommate one evening ate my last two cookies in the bag. I glared at her as I drank my cup of tea until she went to…
  • I came across a great motivational today. " When you don'y feel like going to the gym, remind yourself it doesn't matter what you feel. You may not feel like going to work every day, but you go. Give yourself a grown-up pep talk and remind yourself that exercise may not always be exciting, but its important, especially if…
  • Hi, I'm also over 50, but I have lot more to lose. I have been doing workouts from bodyfit.com to build up my strength for the past 9 weeks, along with calorie counting. So far so good. I feel a lot stronger lately. Getting fit at any age is better late than never. Good luck
  • I work 2 to 3 night shifts a week. I do not sleep well after night shift maybe 4 hrs. I usually have breakfast around 5 AM at work and do not eat again till I wake up. Lunch is around 1 pm and supper at 7 pm. I will have a snack before I go to work. I treat my meals like a day person. I find that lack of sleep plays havoc…
  • 23 down 75 lbs to go. I figure its going to take me 15 months to lose it if I want to be realistic. I plan on dieting until end of May, maintain until mid October, then a final push to get to 165. I just can't lose weight in the summer. I am to busy to take time out to exercise and do proper meal prep. Summertime has…
  • It is an amount that you will find easier to prepare meals. You should be able to portion your calories better.
  • Don't worry...had the same fear after office parties. Lost it 7 lbs after a week of returning to proper food intake levels and exercise. Just make it goal to balance the year out. Good luck
  • I am using a curves weight loss program where it suggests that I should consume my 45% of calories from protein, 30 % from carbs and 25% fat. I use Whey Protein Shake with a skim milk as a mix. I feel I need the extra protein for the weight training that I am doing. I also add a few extra veggies to my diet which is…
  • You all may be right. I was over by 1500 calories at one party and 500 at another. Combine that with no exercise that weekend and having to work night shifts resulted in the gain. It is frustrating to having to repeat the same loss over and over and over. Last year I could have lost 50 lbs if it wasn't for my sabotaging…
