  • If you don't have any annoying co-workers - it means that you're the annoying co-worker.
  • go to "Settings" and then "automatic news feed updates" and then uncheck a box or two.be warned, it's liberating, one minute your turning off auto update, the next you're living in a cave with a bear called Gary
  • The problem I have is the posts people actually write, conversations they start, get lost in the sea of "xxx logged in for 7 days" which seems a shame to me. So I refuse to be part of it (I'm stamping my foot as I say this).
  • You can turn off the neverending news feed, well the auto generated messages that you produce. go to: Home - Settings - - Automatic News Feed Update Settings - - uncheck the various boxes.
  • Feel free to add me - I've turned off all the auto updates (XXX has completed his diary, XXX has burnt 200 calories etc.) so you won't get those updates from me. Instead you get updates from me that are actual words, that I have actually typed using my actual fingers and thought up in my actual brain. Infact anyone that is…
  • Don't let MFP put words in your mouth. Resist the robots. If we've learnt anything from Arnold it's about the danger of robots taking over the world - or the danger of sending an FBI agent to work in Kindergarden - or the danger of combining DNA to make a perfect child (Twins). The second two we can't do anything about but…
  • Sorry to hear about this, it can't be nice for you. I guess as difficult as it is it's a chance to put yourself first again. A friend of mine now goes to the gym in the evenings, he's started climbing, he went on a skiing holiday with friends - he's surrounding himself with people and things that he never could before, I…
  • Sorry, just to add. I'm not being a dick about it, the auto updates suit some people, it's just that I probably get 50 auto updates to every 1 update that someone has actually spent time on, and I'd rather concentrate on the ones that have a real person behind it.
  • Agreed, the thing is not to focus on the things you're not allowed - just to focus on how much of them fits into your goals. I struggle with motivation so I've decided to make myself accountable to a real life weight loss group. If I know I'm being weighed every week then I'm less likely to let them (and therefore myself)…
  • I'm not sure how much I've got to lose - I'm going to review when I get to 50lbs. But I've got an open diary and log in regularly. I've turned off all the automated messages, but I try to write a real message each day and have real conversations about health/fitness/life - I'm trying to build relationships with people to…
  • Another daily logger - I record it in excel every day. I need to remind myself to ignore the fluctuations. I log in MFP now and then but I've turned off the alerts to my friends because it sends too many false positives.
  • I don't have all that advice that montaguek does, but I've sent you a friend request.
  • I'm lucky that I have showers at my work, so I cycle in cycle gear, arrive in a state, jump in the shower and appear ready for work. I take work clothes in panniers on my bike. My route is about 6 miles each way and until recently I did it every day. It took me about an hour door to desk (30 minutes cycling, 10 minutes…
  • I've spent 40 years borrowing calories from the future, unfortunately it now IS the future and I'm having to give them back.
  • I've never even noticed that "Search" link before - not sure how I missed it. I'm off to trawl around, thank you
  • I don't think I was very clear. I'm not really looking for a critique of the SW programme, I'm looking for people's experience of how they have used MFP and SW together. - I've joined the SW group because I know the weekly accountability will keep me motivated. (this was true when I had a trainer weigh me, but SW is about…
  • Brilliant, thanks to everyone who posted, hopefully I've added you all. I can now watch as you slowly all unfriend me when you discover what nonsense I write.
  • You can turn off the ones you send, but not the ones you receive on your timeline. If you find out that you can I'd love to know how.
  • baby steps and small changes you can stick to. I know that my problem is that I go all out for 2 weeks (eating, running, lifting weights, using the app, being on the forum, reading everything about weight loss/fitness etc.) and then i slip up somewhere and suddenly it's 2 months of over eating and not moving. So I'm right…
  • feel free. I'm all for people who want to interact - helps keep me motivated and invested.
  • I'm on the south coast - I'm looking for friends who are looking to write and interact with each other. I think I'll get more out of this and keep coming back if I invest in it. Anyone can add me.
  • The yolk is where the calories are. The white is where the protein is. The yolk also has most of the nutrients it's just that people skip them because of the calories.
  • stop chatting on this forum and get out on your bike. (did I pass the interview?) Sorry I can't help, but good luck finding a virtual coach.
  • Week 6 Day 1 of C25K for me yesterday, I got myself in a nice rhythm and the 8 minutes drifted by - I wasn't ticking down the seconds like I was a couple of weeks ago.
  • My nutritionist friend swears by it, gives her husband it in his coffee. She explained all the health benefits, but I couldn't take it all in - I just got the information that it was good. I use it for cooking chicken and when sauteing greens.
  • Week 4 Day 1 for me yesterday. My brain tried to tell me I wasn't feeling well, or ached, or it was too hot, or i wasn't in the mood - but I managed to ignore it long enough to get to the end. I'm running on a treadmill and I need to get better music or something else to distract me from my brain.
  • Week 3 day 2 done. I'm really enjoying being back at this.
