I'm almost 48, I log everything daily and my diary is open. I like a varied diet, and I like to get ideas from others, too. Feel free to add me as a friend.

Welcome! I feel like the more active I am on MFP, the more support I get.

Welcome back!

Try Blue Diamond Almond Nut Thins with Sea Salt. Closest thing I've found to the crunchiness of tortilla chips.

Also, if you long into your account from a computer instead of a mobile device, you will find many more features available. There are still many limitations to the free version, but more options from the website. For instance, you can change your meal names, and times...I have breakfast, mid-morning snack, lunch, afternoon…

I'm from Louisiana and still consider it home, although I am currently living in Texas. I understand the culture, and know what you mean. Feel free to add me as a friend if you'd like. You'll see lots of cajun goodies on my food diary.

Born and raised in Cajun Country, but currently live in Texas

I'm 47 and it doesn't get easier with age. However, for me, it was just a matter of making myself a priority again. My suggestion is to start logging everything you eat, and log it accurately. Get a scale, and measure it. Exercise is great and necessary for a fit body, but if you want to lose weight, its all about calorie…

Same on mine. Can't figure it out.

Smiling, so must be nice (or devious)

Religion (Catholicism) and close mindedness. In fact, I am 47 years old, and my mother and I cannot discuss religion because it will turn into a big disagreement.

The woodlands area :)

I'll be 48 in a couple months, and it's definitely harder at this age that it was in my younger days. My advice is just to make the time to make yourself a priority. Good luck on your journey!

Hi! I'm also in the Houston area. Congratulations on taking the first steps towards a healthier life. My suggestion is to start walking. Start at a slow pace that will not cause injury. Work on building endurance, and not speed. The speed will come later.

Try Woman Within or Roamans

I use this all the time, but you need to have your location services turned on for the app in order to use it.

I enjoy the Fiber One Coconut Almond Protein bars. Very tasty, fills me up with the fiber and protein and only 140 calories each.

Logging everything daily is a real eye-opener. It makes you think before you consume anything. Glad you have figured out what you need to change to get moving in the right direction.

If it is a common item, you will likely find it in the database when you do a search. I always look for the green check, because that information is verified and will be most accurate. I also like to use the scanner feature on the bar code. This usually provides all the information directly to the app.

I have a weighted hula-hoop that I use regularly for exercise. You burn approximately 7 calories per minute, and good for your core. I've started using it for the same reason as you, to tone up my midsection. I like to hoop to music or while I watch TV. Can't say that I've notice a huge transformation, but I am burning…

Hope you've found your way out of your funk by now. It's hard to feel positive and motivated ALL the time. We have good and bad days. My advice is to find some active, and supportive friends to do this with. It has been the single most important thing in my journey and I have some wonderful fitness pals. Feel free to send…

Google skinnytaste.com and you will find lots of low cal, delicious recipes.

I'll be 48 in November, and I've been faithfully using MFP since January of this year. So far, I've lost almost 31 lbs. My long term goal was to lose a total of 48 lbs by my 48th birthday, and I'm getting so close. For me to be successful, I had to give myself permission to make myself and my health a priority for my time…

Not currently, but it's still home for me. Only people from Louisiana understand the lifestyle :)

Congrats on your decision to change your direction. I am on the road to finding my health again too. It gets harder in your 40's. Feel free to add me as a friend if you are looking for active and supportive fitness pals.

Congratulations on deciding that today is the day. My day was 7 months ago, and and I was in the exact same cycle - a perpetual starter...but not a finisher. Writing it down is helpful, and I encourage you to log every bite! Everything, no exceptions! Share your diary, and hold yourself accountable to your fitness pals.…

I also have a 30 year high school class reunion coming up this fall. One pound is week is totally do-able. I've been doing it since January!

I'm in the Houston area, and have several others on my friend list. Feel free to add me as a friend. Welcome to H-Town! If you haven't experienced a Houston summer yet, you are in for a shocker!

You have to link your fitbit to MFP, but log everything in MFP - all excercise and food.
