  • [quote="MomReborn; Another helpful device I use for my own anxiety and depression is a Fidget Cube. It is about the size of a small dice, and it has different little activities you can do with your fingers and thumbs. Mine has a switch on one side, a disk that you can rotate on another, and a funny little toggle on top.…
  • Mark Twain said it was easy to quit smoking - he had done it dozens of times! I quit cold turkey about 20 years ago, but I was really a social smoker - only around friends and colleagues, out for drinks, that kind of thing (but i always smoked my own - no bumming!) My sister quit using the previously mentioned Allan Carr's…
  • I just have coffee for breakfast, usually around 350 for lunch and then the majority is between 6 and 10pm as I like to have dinner and then a snack before lights out.
  • Every single trip to the grocers includes mushrooms, cheese and sort of fruit. Cant live without those in the house!
  • There are far more degrees of activity between sitting on the couch and eating pizza and say....tough mudder. Its often not an all or nothing. Thats why it personal preference - the level of activity varies from person to person according to their needs, wants and abilities. We all find our success in different ways. For…
  • I dont log the spray either, cuz I am actually not eating it, just using it to make sure nothing sticks. So even if there is some that "sticks" to the cooked food, its negligible in my opinion. No impact on my weight loss to date.
  • Yeah, eating at work is not my idea of a good time. I mean, we have space and equipment to have or make a meal, and I bring my lunch from home 99.9% of the time, but just grazing in the office doesnt appeal to me - too many people in and out of the area, with their germy little hands and their sneezing and coughing and god…
  • I too am an evening snacker - I eat the majority of my calories between 6 and 10pm, including dinner and then a snack later on, like Special K cracker chips, clementines, almonds, frozen yogurt, apples, popcorn, dates - something small but just enough to ease the craving to have something. And Tea - I always end the…
  • Ocean Spray makes me laugh. Just the variety and the ensuing marketing. Regular cranberry cocktail - 8 ounces - 110 calories Diet Cranberry cocktail - 8 ounces - 5 calories Lite Cranberry cocktail - 8 ounces - 50 calories Low Cal cranberry cocktail - 8 ounces - 40 calories. Apparently Diet and Low calorie are not…
  • The carton should tell you somewhere how much of the product equals one egg - on the one that I have, its two tablespoons for the egg equivalence. But of course, you dont tell us how much of the carton you are eating, or if its within your calorie budget, or anything else that would help make the responses more relevant.
  • I have spent the past almost 40 years working with shift workers in a variety of occupations. Timing is irrelevant.
  • I just wanted to drop in to say that thanks to a recommendation I saw here, I tried the Bibi brand frozen chicken and cilantro wontons from Costco (Canada - 4 for 50 calories) and they were magnificent!! For 150 cals, I had a great snack of 8 wontons and a some plum sauce that really spoke to my love of Asian foods, so…
  • The point of this is to eat in a way that will get you to your goals in a healthy, sustainable way, not to close out your diary every day. Dont worry about it.
  • Call the hotel and ask for a refrigerator in your room - most hotels can provide one of those little bar fridges. they do this a lot for guests who have medical needs and need to keep medication refrigerated. They only have a limited number so call ASAP. Then, problem solved - take your usual foods with you.
  • Its ok. If you are new to this way of eating, and still figuring out what changes you can make, its good that its always on your mind, as you have to build new habits and break old ones that were not working for your goals. Once you become comfortable with your plan, you will find that it fades to the back of your mind.…
  • "And you know what. IDGAF what I look like on the beach because wahoo I'm on the beach and it's warm and lovely. The first 5 minutes after I strip down I may feel little self conscious, then you notice nobody is looking at you as they're too absorbed in their own fun. It's a total waste of time and energy hating yourself…
  • No no no!! NOT fail - just more data for you to discover what works and what doesnt work for you. Every new day is another opportunity to start again, or to do better, or keep up the good work. Dont beat yourself up.

  • Timing is irrelevant - in Europe, people regularly eat their final meal after 9pm, and not every European is overweight. If timing were really important, every shift worker would be overweight. Its not what you eat or when you eat it, its HOW MUCH you eat.
  • My doctor encouraged me to lose just 20 lbs before knee surgery. I ended up losing over 100 by the time I got on the table. Now I like being the smallest I have been as an adult and I like my wardrobe and I like being able to shop anywhere for clothes and I like not worrying about fitting into a seat and I like feeling…
  • I'm an outlier on this topic - I weigh food how I eat it, unless a specific weight for an ingredient is stated in a recipe. So if I am eating cooked ground turkey and I have to calculate it outside of a recipe ( you know, where you just divide the whole recipe by number of serves) then I weigh cooked but pay attention to…
  • I can't imagine loving my child enough to welcome them back home when they are in a tight spot and then get pissed at them for trying to improve their health! Talk to your folks - I bet between you, some changes can be made that will suit both of you. Good luck!
  • Maple glazed salmon - out of this world good! http://www.canadianliving.com/food/recipe/maple-glazed-salmon-4
  • I love a good taco salad, or a greek salad, and I will use whatever is in the fridge to make it! I like to add chickpeas, corn, left over cooked veg from the night before, some protein, and then use either sour cream or a really light balsamic and oil dressing. I like to mix up the greens by combining say, spring mix with…
  • I am off to Spain for a month in October this year and from previous experience on vacation, I wont be gaining anything - just way too active to worry about it - even did a cruise last year and didnt gain.
  • I have lost over 100 lbs and loose skin in some areas (under my arms) is a minor issue - I look at it as a badge of honour - I worked hard for it!! But I am old as dirt, and dont care, so maybe my little story doesnt have any relevance to young, beautiful women like you other posters here!! (and beautiful guys too!)
  • I didnt pick a weight goal, I picked a clothing size, and the ability to shop for clothes at any store, not just the plus size specialty shops. So now that I am there, I see that I can go a bit farther (or lower) and I have another goal now of being classified as a "healthy" weight according to BMI, not in the obese or…
  • I recommend you go back to your original 1200 calories - by dropping your calories to a level that is not recommended by MFP, you set yourself up for binging, and now you know why anything less than 1200 calories is not recommended! If the calories are too low, you will keep lapsing and then it wont speed up your weight…
  • Youve lost some weight, so thats a good thing, right? Patience is a virtue....weight loss isnt 100% predictable over any given time span, nor is it linear, so just keep up the good work, have faith and you will be rewarded!
  • You can also use a lower calorie choice such as sour cream, mixed with some herbs and some garlic to approximate the flavour of caesar dressing.
  • Well, there is this site ; http://www.livestrong.com/article/330583-nutrition-information-of-jewel-yams/ but I see it relies on My Fitness pal for calorie counting - has some other nutritional info too - maybe it would be helpful for you?
