  • My own experience has been: adding back gluten this time around has not caused me any major discomfort that I could say would be a reason for me to avoid it entirely, though I keep sugar and refined carbs at a minimum... I am trying to have a balanced diet while focusing on anti-inflammatory foods, and have actually found…
  • @emilysnc That's awesome, happy to hear...;):)
  • @walk2health4me Thank you for sharing that, I appreciate it and wish you well...I think it is really a subjective experience, research aside, when designing a plan that fits, and having the information to make sound choices helps the process immensely...
  • @chunky_pinup @nvmomketo @rainbowbow Thanks so much for all the input, appreciate it!
  • @Tried30UserNames @emilysnc @aggelikik @rml_16 Thank you all for the views and information regarding gluten and Hashimoto's, your input is appreciated...
  • Yup, great accomplishments from small achievements. Every day is a gift. I find the portion thing to work for me, too. And limited processed stuff...
  • @Ardentoak I understand... I lost both my sister and my father to obesity related issues. I am determined and motivated, but struggle...and here if anyone needs a helping hand...
  • Hey guys, I am struggling with around 40 pounds or so...would love to give, and receive support! I am recovered from an eating disorder, and am finally on my way to myself again. Accepting ourselves at whatever weight we are is the most important thing, as it's all love that gets us to where we want and need to be. Best to…
  • @Francl27 Oh, thanks, I will check it out!
  • Ok, anyone have suggestions for a nice moist but firm meatloaf? Mine have been kind of loose, for lack of a better word, and I chalk it up to too many eggs. Tasty, yes, firm, not so much.
  • @Naley2322 Wow, that's awesome, happy to hear stories like that, thanks!
  • I agree with you, looks good!! I am finding that just using real, simple ingredients goes a long way. Portions are everything, and at 1200 calories a day right now, (grrrrr) I am enjoying real food in smaller quantities. I keep refined sugars and processed foods and carbs at a low...and trying to add more veggies!!
  • I made roasted chick peas, onions and cauliflower... A little olive oil and whatever seasoning you like, I used seasoned salt, crushed red pepper, paprika, garlic powder and a bit of curry powder... It was good!
  • I found using Gravy Master in the mix adds moisture and a nice savory flavor and color to the turkey meatloaf...along with that, I added some shredded white cheddar, egg, dried mustard, paprika, thyme, sautéed or dehydrated onions, garlic powder, Lawry's seasoned salt, cracked pepper and plain bread crumbs...I made a glaze…
  • Congratulations on your new journey! Each day meeting my goals gives me hope that this weight will come off. You will find what works for you. Small changes add up to big results, I have found...not as overwhelming either.
  • @ValerieMartini2Olives I know there are advocates of alternative thyroid meds, but for me, the Synthroid (name brand) has been a lifesaver. I have been on it at different doses, per fluctuations, for almost 25 years. I was just diagnosed with Hashimoto's last July during an extreme swing in levels, not knowing what the…
  • @lavrn03 Thanks for the info... It's weird, when I eat gluten I feel it in my limbs... But, I'm not Celiac and have tested negative for many other sensitivities, and like your friends experience, there has to be some connection...All we can do is what we feel best doing, I guess, and figure out what our issues are with…
  • I use Sweetleaf liquid Stevia, Better Stevia powder and Lakanto monkfruit sweetener (the golden is my favorite) in no exact order. I find them all to be tasty, with no weird aftertaste, and am still experimenting with them in cooking. But I use them all regularly in my coffee.
  • @AskTracyAnnK28 Thanks for your reply. I do eat gluten from time to time, and notice a bit of inflammation when I do. (I think, anyways, haha) Hope you are doing well with everything and enjoying the gluten! :):)
  • @senecarr Yes, I am familiar with that view, myself...there is so much self-motivated gain to be made with "quackery", it's rather sad, irresponsible and not exactly helpful to those seeking ways to feel better...hence our need to stay informed. Hope you are doing well with things, thanks for your reply!
  • @galgenstrick Thanks for your reply. Hope you are feeling well!
  • @rml_16 Oh, I see... If you believe that asking others to share their experiences is the same as asking for medical advice, than we clearly do not agree. Please just avoid the thread, we will both be better off...
  • @aggelikik One of those threads? No, actually I never said anything of the kind, or as to what my situation is, what I believe or what I read. I was just interested in how people with Hashimoto's are feeling when they eat gluten.
  • @rml_16 I am very calm, thank you. I did not ask to be diagnosed with hypotheticals, I just wanted to share experiences with others having Hashimoto's. I find it a bit disturbing to throw around medical advice without even knowing someone's history or what they are already doing to treat it. Good luck with everything...
  • @ValerieMartini2Olives Thank you for your response and for adding me... Best to you on this new journey... My endocrinologist didn't seem to have an opinion on the gluten thing. Happy to hear alternative views. I have tested negative for a spectrum of things, Celiac included, though I do find when I eat gluten, it seems to…
  • @rml_16 Yes, thank you, I am aware of that, and I do not have Celiac...
  • @aggelikik Are you *kitten* kidding me? I am fully aware of the ramifications of Hashimoto's and take care of myself accordingly with all diagnostic testing. Are you a doctor, if so, you apparently have not completed your ethics courses. Give me a *kitten* break.
  • I like Blue Bonnett clean Whey protein and for a plant based, Sunwarrior blend is good. I always tweak them and never use water... Plant based are not as smooth as the whey, but offer many benefits, so I use both.
