I confess that I couldn't stand my childhood bff but never had the courage to tell her. We were "friends" for over a decade.

Two things: kindness, and those little creases in the outer corners of his eyes when he smiles. Omg, I melt.

I'm pretty sure I was the biggest kid in the entire school right up until high school. I'm also sure I weighed more when I was 10 years old then I do now, and I'm 250 pounds. You know when you're a kid and you go into McDonald's for supper and you're really hungry so you point to the biggest meal on the menu? Yea, I did…

My mom is really into a book right now that says something along the lines of having to eat certain foods in certain quantities depending on your blood type. She's seen my progress and wants to lose weight too, refuses to count calories, and thinks this might finally be the answer. smh.

The positive: When you can feel your ribs for the first time in your life (feeling my spine for the first time is my next goal) When you start pulling out your summer clothing after a long winter and realize most of it is too big this year Being able to shop in non-plus size stores for the first time ever (and realizing…

One more for liking coconut water right here! I've had it a few times, find it just has a fresh, light coconut taste, kind of sweet and syrupy. Definitely not something for every day, but I do like it!

I would highly recommend staying very far away from the cabbage soup diet! A few years ago my dad and his friend went on it together. His friend ended up in the hospital, my dad ended up really sick too (weak, dizzy, lethargic). Doctors told them point blank that there simply isn't enough nutrients or calories in the soup.…

I am always looking to make new friends, especially those who are active and like to interact a bit, please add me! I have been on MFP for just over 3 months, log every day, and my diary is open to friends. I am working on losing at least 80 pounds, so I'm in it for the long haul. Let's do this!

I admit I tried those Slimquick diet pills a while back. It was an awful experience. At the risk of TMI, it made me badly constipated for the first time in my life. I felt nauseated after taking the pills, sluggish and light-headed all the time, I just pretty much felt that something was wrong the entire time I was on…

I'm confused, I keep reading posts in forum topics where people say you cannot gain muscle if you are in a calorie deficit, and that you cannot gain enough muscle to outweigh fat in a few weeks. Then I read posts that say the opposite ( I'm in no way picking on you, please don't think that, I've seen this exact information…

Same here, I bought a huge bag of the stuff and am having trouble getting through it. It's tastes super bitter to me, not sweet at all, no matter how much or how little I use, and the aftertaste is horrible. It might just be one of those things that tastes different to different people, and also some brands and types might…

My understanding, and please anyone correct me if this is wrong, is that having a thigh-gap has a lot less to do with your weight and a lot more to do with the shape and size of your pelvis and hips. I'm 257 pounds and my thighs only touch a little, I've always assumed it's because my hips are huge.

I have to chime in on this as well, I actually find myself bored if I just sit and watch tv! I usually walk back and forth or jog in place while watching tv, or make use of a pair of dumbbells, or resistance bands. If you have done your exercise for the day, try doing a craft project or a puzzle while you watch tv, or fold…

As others have said, it's kind of hard to tell. A trip to the doctor to check your blood sugar levels might be a good place to start. If that's fine, they might still have a better idea of what it might be. I have low blood sugar and often get light-headed and/or dizzy between meals, but this has happened whether I'm…

Unfortunately, I find that Stevia does make coffee much more bitter, I can hardly drink it! I find I get more of a bitter taste than any sweetness from Stevia. I have tried adding anywhere from a pinch to halve a teaspoon to a tablespoon, nothing works. It just adds to the bitterness but doesn't provide any sweetness to…

Definitely make sure your floor is level under the scale! We moved our scale once from one side of the bathroom to the other and everyone in the family gained ten pounds overnight! Switched it back and everything was fine. I usually take a few readings in a row and record the average of them, there's usually a difference…

I've only recently discovered eggplant! So far I like it best sliced thin and fried. I fry it in water instead of oil to cut down on the calories. I add about a cup of water to the pan, just to cover the bottom, and top up as necessary. It makes it really soft. I also sprinkle it with paprika and pepper.

When I joined MFP, one of the biggest shockers was that I was drinking 200 calorie coffees every morning. Creamer, sugar, cocoa powder....yikes. Just thinking about it now makes me cringe. I still drink coffee, but I've switched to Vanilla Almond Milk instead of vanilla creamer, and I've recently started using Stevia…

When I first started MFP, I was on a 1200 cal diet for a month (I've since increased that limit because it was too low for me), and went from never exercising at all to exercising every day. For over 17 days that month, at the risk of TMI, I bled. Four days here, then a week of nothing, then a week of bleeding, than three…

I'm finding that items I haven't used for a while simply disappear from my Recent list. I have 4 pages in that list, and from what I can tell, when I add something new the last item on page 4 is "bumped" off the list.

Oh my goodness, I've been doing it wrong! Thanks for this thread and the explanation!

That's wonderful, great work! I can't swim at all, but I highly recommend an aquafit class, which is done in the shallow end of the pool. I go twice a week and it's a total body workout, legs, core, arms, etc. It's a lot of fun, and because it's in the water it's low impact on joints. I find I can exercise a lot longer…

I wanted to add, I lost over 50 lbs in high school from one year to the next. I looked like a completely different person. No one, not even my own mother, said a single thing. As others have said, it could be just that everyone is afraid to comment!

I think it depends on a lot of things! How much weight you need to lose, where on your body you start losing weight first, and how observant those around you are! But, as cloudi2 said, nobody's opinion is that important. You have to lose weight for yourself, you own opinion is the most important one! If you are noticing a…

I think 8 lbs in a month is awesome! Way to go! I believe they say that 2lbs in a week is kind of the maximum per week for sustainable loss, so you're right on target!

Mine was kind of three-fold. I woke up one morning just after the New Year this year, and the first thought through my head was "I have to lose weight. Now. I have to do it now." It was the weirdest thing, the sense of urgency was like the house was on fire, I can't even explain it. A few days later I got on the scale and…

I've recently discovered you can freeze Greek yogurt! Vanilla is my favourite flavor to do this with so far, the one I get is only 80 cal, and as a bonus it has 8g of protein. It's not exactly like ice cream, but it's a good substitute.

When I started MFP, I knew I would have to make some changes and sacrifices. I have given up a half hour of Netflix/tv every day in order to fit exercise in, and honestly, I think it was one of the best things I ever did! I also do little things throughout the day, in addition to my regular work-out. When I'm making supper…

I am so thankful for this thread, because I was worried too! My period has never been regular, some months I get one, some I don't, some I get two. Sometime it's light, sometimes heavy. Anyway, I started MFP in early January, and went down from over 2000 cal to between 12-1300 cal per day, in about 3 days. I bled for 15…

I should probably clarify my previous comment. I meant that sometimes it will say 115.0, sometimes 115.3, sometimes 115.5, but it never seems to drop below 115.0kg, and I should be entering week 3 of the "in 5 weeks".
