Almost all of your current favorite foods can be made with healthier adaptations to make them 'healthy foods'. What are some of your current favorites?

Thriftown! I love me a good thrift store. I'm also a huge fan of safety pins and whip-stitches for quickly taking in the seams of favorite items. I just whip-stitched in the side-seams of one of my favorite shirts. (In about another ten pounds, even side-stitching won't save it, though.) My heartbreak is my corsets,…

Wear your heart rate monitor the whole time. It's the only way to be sure...

Oh, god. I feel your pain! Literally! It took two years of physical therapy agony and cortisone shots and slowly increasing pain meds before my doctor would finally refer me to a surgeon, and even that took my chiro and my pt writing him letters saying "We've done all we can." My surgeon called me in the week after my MRI,…

Phew! Everyone's doing so awesome! 10,940 steps today. Wish it knew how to calculated all that crawling around on my hands and knees I did today weeding the back yard! Jdkbs- The ONLY way to lose weight is to eat fewer calories than you burn. Walking is great to get started in fitness and in calorie burning, but to raise…

LOL I've never sprayed the spray butter directly into my mouth, but now I wanna try it! Trader Joe's makes these tiny mini chocolate peanut butter cups and sells them in pint containers- I'd eat an entire container in one sitting. The whole thing. I would be so sick if I tried that now.

I think you should continue with exactly what you're doing, and yes, get some weight training in. Stronglifts 5x5 is a great place to get started, and you can easily add it into your current exercise plan. :) (ignore the person who said to eat more- what works for them might not work for you- I started at 180, and my first…

That a spoonful of olive oil before a heavy meal will stop your body from digesting the fat in the meal. I have friends who carry around little bottles of olive oil and measuring spoons in their purses. *blink*

Currently, my size 14 suit that I bought in December is gettin' seriously baggy in the behind. By June 1st? Hoping to be in a 10, but since I'm rather large-breasted, I may be in the 12 range. Either way, it's all good.

There's a lot of really good advice in this thread. :) You don't mention your activity level or what your daily activities look like. Frankie_xox mentioned above not eating breakfast and saving your calories for later in the day. Are you more active at night, or in the morning? You may need to balance your meals better…

Grew up in dairy country. Worked in dairies. Milked cows. Leaving this thread before the ignorance blinds me. Don't believe everything you read, folks, especially if it comes from that lunatic Food Babe.

Ugh. Totaling out at 6,493. I'll do better tomorrow!

I have it. I was dancer when I was younger, and I'm afraid that life is not kind to one's body. It comes and goes, usually when I overdo it or do something stupid. This most recent flare-up, though, my doctor is attributing to my 'walking wrong' because of my runner's knee. I'm in PT right now for the knee thing, and my…

Not even gonna come close today. I somehow bruised my foot yesterday on my hike. I'm going to try to hit the step-glider here in an hour or so, but I'm currently at 2635 for the day... :(

Garmin says 16,357! Most of that was on my 6 mile walk this morning, I think, but the daily total surprised me!
-
Your daily work activity should be figured into your activity level. For exercise calories, only count what you specifically do above-and-beyond your daily activity, for example, if you go for a run after work, you would count that. Hope that makes sense?

I don't know what I did wrong when I made this. I used plain old chicken breast, DelMonte canned pineapple in juice and Pace Picante Mild, and... it was so bad I couldn't even eat it. :( My husband said it was really good and ate all of his, but I ended up throwing mine away. My go-to is similar, though. Mix 1 jar of salsa…

Hey! EVERY step counts! You'll get there!

The tea alibis and the hell rises... I think the Auto-Correct is the best part of this thread. It almost sounds like some kind of secret spy code. Anyway, in addition to what middlehaitch said above, it's also important to know what kind of feet you have. I have low arches so getting fitted for the right shoes is important.

I seem to remember my physical therapist saying that it takes 3-5 weeks to lose 1 weeks worth of training. Don't stress it- Take care of your body, let it heal, and listen to its needs. When you're up to it, go to the gym and see what you can do.

I have one- I think I got it DD's for 6 bucks or something. It's fun, but in the end, I prefer using my fitness ball for abs exercises, though, because I can worry less about my back (I have spinal problems). Fitness balls are about the same price as the ab-roller, but you can do a LOT more with them for a total body…

:) Good on you for making the commitment! So, what's different this time? How are you going to reach your goals? We're all here to cheer you on every step of the way, even the stumbles.

Wow! Go you! :) It's so awesome that you can do it together and support each other.

I've been making steel cut oats in the slow-cooker. We always have leftovers, so I fry them up in a pan with chia seeds sprinkled on top- gives a little healthy crunch to an otherwise boring dish.

Your kid is underweight and you're worried about sugar? Anyway, I have a friend with a similar problem- her answer has been to make up little bento boxes full of fun snack-foods= cheese cut in dinosaur shapes, sandwich meat, shaped carrots, crackers, nuts, etc, plus a little something sweet like yogurt covered raisins in…

I'm finding it so much easier this go-around with a partner who is making changes with me. We aren't dieting, we're eating better, eating less, eating healthier. In my mind, it's not a question of who needs to lose weight, but how healthy we can be as a couple and as a household. If she's not interested in your health, or…

Yeah, I already have dysmenorrhea- the Yogi tea didn't seem to help anything at all. :( I give in, eat a little more, and add a little more to my walks when I'm able. I figure, my body is miserable, it's trying very hard to tell me that it's in distress, and I should probably listen and give it what it wants. NOT to the…

See the MLM Advocare post someone just posted. It's exactly the same kind of cult pyramid scheme. The stuff doesn't work, it's just another scam.

Ever hear of Dr. Linda Hazzard? ... Seriously, though, just eat well-balanced meals within your calorie allowance. With fad diets, you can lose your hair, your health, your overall well-being, and weight that comes off will go back on. With healthy, calorie-appropriate eating, all you have to lose is weight.
