Yup- Do whatever you have to do to heal your body and get on top of the infection. :) If you don't feel up to eating 1200 (it's hard when swallowing feels like your throat is on fire!), just make sure you stay hydrated and get lots of vitamins. :)

I agree with cebreisch. My first three attempts, I tried to do too much at once, cutting down to 1300 calories, cutting out sugar and carbs and fats... It was too much and I failed. Start by recording what you eat normally and honestly recording your activity level for a week or two. Once you've recorded everything for a…

Also! Your current stats are almost exactly where I started a YEAR AGO! I was 179, 5'4", and am now at 142 pounds and dropping! So yeah, you got this! :)

Double check your Garmin settings. It sounds like it's way over-compensating. I, too, am on walking only with my back surgery recovery- 5 miles at 3.5 mph only gains me about 350 calories per day. Make sure your height and weight stats are correct in your Garmin settings.

I eat back half of my exercise calories as calculated per MFPs calculator. If you're feeling deprived and hungry, reevaluate how much you're eating compared to how much you're burning. :)

Take a good look at the ingredients and nutritional information on a boxed or canned meal, and then compare it to a similar homemade recipe at a site like Allrecipes. Some boxed meals are better than others, but what I've found is that they are generally higher in sodium, sat fats, etc. But it really comes down to…

I did it once when I had a bad kidney infection and was in the hospital on IV. I really wouldn't recommend it. Far better to focus on losing a pound or so a week and eating a moderate diet.

I do scrambled eggs or frittattas most mornings, I usually bulk them out with spinach, onion, peppers- just whatever veg I have handy.

WOO AWESOME!

Weight Watchers exists to make money. It actually behooves them to not teach people how to change their lifestyles and make healthier choices. They need you to lose the weight, tell all your friends how awesome they are so they'll join, too, then leave the program, gain the weight back, and have to go back on the program…

What others said: Venison is already really lean and healthy. (Not sure frying it in bacon grease is, though.) I like to chop it fine, sautee it with mushrooms, then add a little milk and flour to make gravy.

My knee hurts. I'm so sick of my knee hurting.

THIS! I've had a hard time even getting my regular GP to add the right tests to my labs. Half the time, I have to bring back my paperwork just to have him add the right tests. :( It's so frustrating. But yes, it can take a long time to get the right meds doing the right job. Stick to your guns and don't let your doctor…

Umm... but, well... undereating isn't going to be sustainable. Eventually your body will reach a point where it no longer has fat reserves to burn, and then it's going eat your muscle (including your heart), your bones (osteoporosis), your liver, etc. Instead of starving your body, why not try reaching your weight loss…

If you're eating less than 1000 calories a day, unless you're very small, you're under-eating. I'm not sure that you understand good nutrition, from what you're saying. When you look at your macros at the bottom of your food diary, are you getting a good balance of Protein, Carbs and Fats? If you're mostly eating…

My cucumbers are coming ripe. Cucumber and hummus! NOM NOM NOM!

Dried fruit, nuts, and cinnamon and vanilla. Sometimes, I'll top it with a drizzle of honey. I always keep a huge variety in the house, so I never get bored. One morning it might be dates and walnuts, and the next it might be cherries and almonds.

It's a nutella s'more? That's... that's just brilliant! My life is now complete!

I just promise myself that I'll do some extra cardio over the next few days and not stress about it. I had a 'hungry' day yesterday and went over by 600 calories. It looks really bad, but if I divide that up by extra 30 minute power-walks, that's just 4 extra walks to make up for it, or an extra 20 minutes of hula-hooping…

Scotland is one of my favorite places, and you're there at a great time to do it!

My ex-husband was a competition body builder, and all of his friends were, and it's pretty sad thinking back on what a bunch of stupid, steroidal, vain jerks they were. The stupid/steroidal/icanliftheavythings stereotypes do come from somewhere, sadly. YOU know you don't fit the stereotype, so hold your head up high and…

It's a public hot tub. Wear trunks. But honestly, the hot tub at my gym is so gross and filthy, I wouldn't go in it at all.

I find that I genuinely forget things like the dressing I had on my salad at lunch, or the glass of wine I had with it. But why lie to my food diary? The only person I'm fooling if I don't log something is myself. And then there's days like yesterday when I prelogged my planned dessert, but I wasn't feeling very good and…

I don't call it cheating. It's a splurge, or a treat. I just got back from two weeks of dealing with a family emergency, followed by a weeklong emergency. I ate well, and a bit too much, and that's okay. I know that now that I'm home and back in my comfort zone, I'll get back on track. And I can look back at that awesome…

We're huge on olive oils here- I tend to 'collect' gourmet olive oils. My favorite is a garlic rosemary olive oil over zucchini, summer squash, etc.

I started at 179. 145 now, with 15 more to go. We can do it!

Just as an adjunct here- Before my thyroid problem was properly diagnosed, I was gaining weight (about 2 pounds a week) on a strict doctor supervised 1100 calorie a day diet and a highly active lifestyle. It CAN happen. And the standard thyroid test didn't show a problem, it was the full thyroid work-up that finally…

Take a set of pictures = front, back, sides= once a month and compare them side-by-side when you get discouraged. I bet you'll be amazed at the difference. Our minds don't always see what's really there.
