Moving is one of the biggest stresses in life, and it's hard work, packing/sorting/unpacking/ settling in. My guess is you're burning way more calories than you think you are. And like mbc said above, don't think you can make it a habit. My bet is that once you're settled into your new place and things are going smoothly…

I'd like to say that I calmly caught the rat, threw it over the back fence, and went about my evening. The reality is that I screamed like a sissy-child and threw the broiler pan at it, along with the perfectly seasoned steak that I was preparing for dinner. The rat, apparently afraid of seasoned steaks and screaming…

Cook crockpot meals and then freeze them in individual servings, maybe? That way, you pull out one meal, eat it, and that's it? You might have to adjust your shopping to make sure you don't have a pile of easily munchable foods in the house, too.

I think it comes down to personal circadian rhythms. My husband doesn't like breakfast, can't eat it- it makes him sick if he tries to eat too early. However, he can go to the gym and work out for two hours late at night. If I don't eat breakfast, I'm grouchy, headachy and can't concentrate. By 9 pm, I'm totally ready for…

I, too, was a dancer when I was younger. When we moved to this house, walking on the original hardwood floors was killing my poor feet. Thick fluffy socks (I like the Wigwam Socks from Northwest) are my go-to. I'm wearing them right now!

It sounds like your goals of 2 pounds a week are way too aggressive. Remember, you're trying to make lifetime changes, and those take more time than a couple months. You probably cut out way too much right away and your body is rebelling. This was my downfall numerous times. It wasn't until I started slowly making changes…

Have you heard of Dr. Joyce Vedral? Her "Weight Training Made Easy" is AWESome if you can find a copy. I think she's in her late 60's now and is incredible.

When I was much younger, my hair was down to my waist and I was a jazz dancer. For rehearsal I had a three braid system- Two side braids that tied to a bigger central braid, held in place with three hair ties. I wish we'd had the awesome silicon ones back then, because those stay put, even in the pool.

Having survived a broken rib a couple summers ago- Plan on some good hard power-walking on smooth even ground. Strength training, I really have no idea. I had serious pain whenever I lifted anything or bent over at all. If you're using machines, lower body is probably okay, but depending on how messed up your rib is,…

I bank calories, too. Of course, sometimes, like tonight, things happen, like, you know, opening my oven and finding a rat, that requires eating out, and now my calorie bank is overdrawn. hko17- You're complicating the matter with facts not valid to the MFP calculator. If your method is working for you, great, but for…

14,000 today, mostly done on my walk, which was very muddy today!

I eat back half. I tried not to at first, but that was a silly mistake. I was tired and hungry. Work hard, eat a little more- it's glorious! :)

Low energy and feeling fatigued might mean it's time to up your calories and go to 1 pound a week, or even a half-pound, instead of 1.5 for awhile. You've rocked this thing so far! Just listen to your body and take care of yourself. :)

Back in November, my husband and I both had our annual physicals. My cholesterol was a little high, my blood pressure was still up. (I was solidly in pre-hypertension numbers for a couple years), and my doctor said, "At least you haven't gained anymore weight..." before talking about putting me on meds for my bp and…

5'4 here. Like Lounmoun, I started at 179! Currently at 158, with an ultimate goal of 135-130. No real deadline; this is for life. But I'm kind of hoping to be at 150 by my doctor's appointment in the end of May. (My doctor gave up on me losing the weight, and at my last appointment, after explaining that my cholesterol…

I'm sorry. I know you really want to lose this weight, but you're really going about it an unhealthy manner that's only going to damage your entire body. :( Stop taking the diet pills. Eat a healthy, well balanced diet, consisting of whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and proteins like meat, beans, or fish. A website like…

Oh, those sound delicious! I bet you could make it as more of a casserole, layer the tortillas with the fillings, use half the tortillas. cheese and cream cheese. Cut it into smaller portions and serve it with black beans and green salad for 'fill-up'.

I like my Garmin Vivofit. I had a Garmin Fenix but honestly, it was just too big for my tiny wrist and I was always banging it on things and bruising my wrist. I sold it to a friend before I had a chance to break it. I went Garmin because it's completely waterproof- I don't need to worry about it when I'm swimming or…

I'm making little mini open-top pies in muffin tins this year, more like little fruit tarts. I can make just a few and then we can each have a couple and not have a whole giant pie to pig out on. For dinner, maybe go ahead and make pizza, but with cauliflower crust with garlic & olive oil instead of sauce, topped with…

I try to plan for it, and before I drink that microbrew or eat those pub fries, I do the quick calculation of much extra I'm gonna have to walk to get rid of them. Just 500 calories is going to bring my 5 mile daily power-walk up to 6.6 to 7 miles for the entire week. A lot of times, I'll come right up to the limits of my…

Chicken salad made with canned chicken breast, celery, and green onion on flaxseed multigrain crackers, with carrots and snap peas. very exciting... :*

People who see you every day might not notice the changes- It's just too close. My husband was disappointed that none of his coworkers had noticed the changes, but they had a convention last week and a lot of people from the satellite offices were in town- the people who hadn't seen him in months noticed right away and…

Wow, I am so sorry. :( It has nothing to do with you, or your weight. I promise. He was selfish and childish and probably didn't think of how it would affect you or anyone (the woman's husband) at all. Do everything you can to take care of yourself right now. Take long walks, have lunch with friends, breathe- breathe a…

This! Self love, baby steps, and forgiveness! Baby steps. First, just log everything you eat. Don't worry about macros or calorie counts that first week- just eat what you normally eat. Once you've logged for a week, it will be much easier to see where you can make healthier choices and small changes. I originally was on a…

Try using one of the BMR & TDEE calculators (iifym has one, as do several other sites. I don't have the links on hand but I'm sure someone can post them) to figure out what your base metabolic rate is and what your total daily expenditure is. Once you understand those two things, it's a lot easier to figure out how much…

Two wrist stories today! It's funny, but I never really thought of wrists as being a place to lose weight... Awesomeness!

It's just water weight and goes away. It's not like eating a few pieces (notice I said "a few") or a cheeseburger, or a few french fries for one day is going to undo months of hard work. This month, I gave in to the pizza craving and still lost a pound in the end.

Protein and fiber help me feel fuller longer. Eating lean protein and lots of plant fiber- oatmeal, black beans, etc- has really helped me stick to my eating plan. Try adding 1/2 cup of beans to your diet- garbanzo beans and white beans can easily be added to salads and have both protein and fiber. Swap out your cheerios…

Only if your walking puts you in calorie deficit. Walking is for overall fitness. :) (But I find I lose more easily if I'm walking.) I'm averaging around 8000, and I really should push another 2000. Count me in! Let's do this!

You look fabulous! Congrats!
