You really put two whole cups of milk in your tea?

Just totally ignore the 'in five weeks' feature. It's never right and mostly useless. I can eat the same thing with the exact same caloric expenditure for three days in a row and it will give me a different answer every time. I think if she's exercising, then meeting her macros is a far better indication of healthy diet…

Today? I'm at my mom's house so it's not my usual, but Morning: Oatmeal with dried fruit and nuts, coffee w/International Delight creamer Lunch: Turkey and swiss cheese on Orowheat Steel Cut Oat bread with tomato Dinner: Digiorno pepperoni pizza and a huge salad After-dinner treat: Trader Joe's Dark Chocolate Truffle Bar…

I don't keep bread in the house anymore because my pre-diabetic s/o is on low carbs, so bread is a treat. If it's a treat, then I'm eating the best sourdough I can find!

You know, I think there's nothing wrong with declaring your goals publicly to gain the support of your friends and family, but there's also another way to say "I'm dieting and losing weight" without stating it. Instead, try sharing healthy recipes that you've really enjoyed, or adding some photos of you doing things that…

Right at first, sometimes you'll drop weight more quickly. It should even out in the next couple months. If you feel great, go with what you're doing. :)

My mom (in her 70s) started out with a $200 recumbent from Wal-mart, then upgraded to a more expensive Weslo model that was quieter so she could ride while watching TV. She bought all these crazy "Bike" dvd's that you pedal along in front of the TV and it looks like you're biking along in Tuscany or Hawaii, or whatnot. She…

If you need your back better- try physical therapy exercises to strengthen your core, and physical therapy exercises to to stretch your back muscles and keep them in condition to get the weight off your spine bones and onto your muscle load. If you can't see a physical therapist, look on youtube for the gentlest,…

Also, I can recommend start taking your measurements in addition to stepping on the scale. That scale sees everything and it lies from time to time, because it counts that undigested meal, or a bit of water weight in recently worked out muscles. Sometimes seeing that tape a quarter-inch tighter when the scale hasn't budged…

Kind of blown away by the responses of some of the people who didn't even bother to read the thread "You can't have a protein intolerance because you'd be dead" and "you should see a doctor". You've seen a doctor, you've had the allergy tests, and you know that it's the proteins that are the problem. I have soy…

I work for myself, so I don't often take business trips, but I do a lot of conventions, and yes, it's hard! Most of the time, the hotels I stay in have great fitness centers and pools, so exercise isn't a problem, but food? Eating out is hard for me- usually there's a healthy choice on the menu, but it's nothing that i…

Jess, once your meds are working, you'll feel a real difference in your energy levels. At least for now, just try to get out and walk twenty minutes a day. :)

Here's my brief history: I was 36, in excellent physical condition, working an active job and hiking every weekend, but I was gaining weight. Every month, I was a couple pounds heavier, even though I was eating less. I was tired all the time and my hair was brittle and breaking. My doctor finally took my complaints…

I have migraine days where I can't eat at all, or if I do it comes right back up. Just stay hydrated, and don't worry about it. When you feel better, your eating schedule will get back to normal. :)

You can just search for the restaurant name, like, "Applebees" and everything anyone's entered from them should come up, but it's not really that easy. Probably better to google for the same information. :)

Yes, folks, even if you include the link, it's still called plagiarism if you quote over ten percent of the article. That being said, I LOVE this blog post, and having tried paleo myself as part of book research (and realizing that my body needs carbs like a cave man needs a spear, quit when I found myself getting sicker,…

Hon, we are educated. And... it doesn't work. You'll lose weight in the short term, and you'll be hangry and tired and miserable (and so much poo!) and then, you'll finish the program and try their maintenance plan, and you'll gain the weight back in three months, four months, or six months, or a year, and you'll think,…

It's a treat, or a splurge, not a cheat. I'm not cheating anyone or anything. :) I'm on a family vacation trip this weekend. I'm gonna have a lot of cardio next week to catch up, but it's worth it!

How recently did you up? Are you still measuring and weighing all your food?
-
Don't rely on others to support your dietary needs. (DO carry protein drinks, an apple, or whatever, so that if there's not something available that fits your needs, you have it on hand.)

See your doctor, kingkam. Tendon problems are nothing to mess around with and you can actually seriously cripple yourself. And most tendon problems aren't 'fixable' by anything other than rest, time and proper physical therapy. A good rule until you can see your doc, is 'if it hurts, don't do it'.

Eat 1200, and, depending on how you're counting your exercise calories, some or all of those, too. The goal is to be in calorie deficit based on your total daily caloric expenditure. :) I usually eat back half of my exercise cals, based on my fitness tracker calculations, and it seems to be working well.

Doing Joyce Vedral's Weight Training Made Easy program, I noticed results in about two weeks- tiny things, like biceps that move when I pick up the frying pan, etc. The first time I did it, I was already pretty strong and outgrew the program pretty quickly (read as, got bored with the same exercises, just different…

Cleaning my house? That would be excessive.... Doing a professional cleaning job and someone else's house? Heck, yah. When I was a house cleaner, I busted a&&. Five houses, 8 hours, and I was barely able to stagger into the shower when I got home at night. Depends on your pace, your effort expended, and how clean that tile…

The new one is terrible. It's the same story whether you enter the ingredients by hand or try to import them. (It seems to like Allrecipes for imports, but that's about it.) I use the old recipe builder whenever possible, but it's having more and more glitches. :(

Turn your TV time into PARTY TIME! If you like Zumba and dance, get up and move while you watch Netflix. I got hula hoops and TV time is Hooping Time (and resistance band time, too). Find something fun that you can do while watching your favorite shows to get you moving.

I eat back half my exercise calories per MFP's calculations (for my daily 5 mile walk, comes out about 120 calories over what my Garmin calcs w/out heart rate monitor, about spot on when I'm wearing my heart-rate monitor.). Try not eating back everything it gives you, dropping by a 100 or calories a time until you're in…

Why do you reset to 'maintenance' calories instead of just eating what you want that day and recording it so that you can see how many calories 'over' your treat day took you? I tend to look at the weekly totals as I go, and make sure that what I'm eating balances out. (And yes, I tend to weigh more the day after a splurge…

Make sure you're not taking anything else with your thyroid med, for at least an hour. (I take mine when the cat's automatic feeder goes off at 6 and then go back to sleep for an hour). That was what was messing me up- I was taking it with my allergy pill first thing in the morning, and my numbers just kept dropping. Moved…

"Yoga is not strength training"... Depends on what form of yoga you do. I think it falls into the same category as "Your Body is Your Gym", frankly. But as far as MFP logging is concerned, record it under cardio, and then make a note in your notes what you did that day.
