There are several of us still using phen. I take it on as "as needed" basis for appetite suppression. Usually related to hormones (cycle and ovulation).

Be careful syncing a tracker with MFP. I did that because I thought it would be helpful. It was giving me back my calories based on how many steps I was walking (I avg 10-12K a day). I made sure I was logging my exercise as "0" or "1" calorie so I wasn't double dipping exercise calories. I ended up gaining 5#'s before I…

Weight loss helps but for me (genetically high lipid issues) the only thing that worked was a high fat, high protein, lower carb diet (not low carb but definitely lower/more moderate). The more fat I eat, the better my lipids have gotten (all lipid markers including triglycerides). Statins are very bad for you. Your body…

Mag. Citrate is more absorbable. For constipation you have to take mag oxide. It goes through instead of absorbing.

Yes. Very true on the form! You are well informed. Most people don't know (or maybe don't understand) about iron supplements either. Iron does NOT have to be constipating if one takes the right form of it. I have a DD that is really sensitive to magnesium digestively but she's also deficient in mag. We found that mag…

I have a friend that had her family DNA tested because they are dealing with some chronic illnesses. As a part of that testing, a section on weight loss/gain/obesity was also done. When we went over the entire test what I saw was that the information they gave her (specifically) about gaining/losing weight actually…

Sitting down to eat is one of the principals Beck uses in her book The Beck Diet Solution. The goal is that sitting forces you to look at what you're eating so you become more mindful. Writing yourself a note and putting it on the counter or cupboard or wherever you'll see it can help. I have found this to be a very…

This is absolutely true! I had to inject insulin while pregnant and I would NEVER do it again. If I had known then what I know today, I would have worked WAY harder to control my GD with diet. Not only did the insulin affect my ability to lose weight, it took us 10yrs to get rid of its affects on the girl I was carrying…

I haven't updated this in awhile. I actually am taking the phent on an "as needed" basis as my doctor called it. For me, that means I take it on the weekends, when I ovulate and the week of my cycle. I'm finding this to be very effective for me in terms of appetite control. However, I've not lost anything in months so it…

To be honest with you, until you deal with this, you will likely find losing weight very difficult. I know that until I dealt with the host of emotional issues connected to my mom/family, it was very hard to get away from the emotional eating. So separating from your dad is not just for your mental health, it's for your…

There has been some really good advice given here. I was going to quote some of it before posting, but there is too much good stuff to do that. I have a toxic mom. I am 47yrs old. It took me way too many years to decide that I had had enough of being her punching bag. I finally just cut the cord. At first, I felt a lot of…

Definitely. It's not uncommon for one's blood sugar to dip anywhere from 2:00-3:00am and when that happens the liver often kicks up the glycogen which wakes people up. The best way to avoid this is to eat a carb/protein balanced snack shortly before bed. It can take a couple of nights to regulate but usually it fixes…

Thank you for this info. While I don't have to worry about gluten contamination, I have wanted to try Mrs. Dash and wasn't sure if there was added salt (I was pretty sure it didn't but lazily did not check it out). I'd like to use it for cooking and let the family add salt as they need to (I have one that also has low…

I think this really comes down to the skill of the surgeon. When I had mine done I had the surgeon show me TONS of his work (before and afters). With the internet now you can do online searches for people happy/unhappy with someone's work specifically. So you definitely want to do your research on the surgeon doing the…

I won't argue that sugar isn't good for people - we practice a carefully managed low sugar diet in our home. We still enjoy sweet treats when we want to though. BUT, when someone new comes looking for suggestions on how to lose weight in difficult circumstances, making large changes like this (and removing sugars is a big…

Some people's bodies just don't like different sweeteners. It can be an allergy, it can be a weird chemical reaction between your body chemistry and the sweetener, etc. But obviously, if stevia is triggering your migraines (and I do know people that is true for), then you just have to stop using it. Use sugar and account…

They actually sell a lemon pepper seasoning but I think you'd need to check to verify it's gluten free because a lot of pre-blended spices are not. Sage for chicken, or poultry seasoning blend for chicken/turkey. Lemon chicken uses 1/4 cup lemon juice with a cube of melted butter. Dip the chicken in it, coat in gluten free…

It's late, so please forgive my inability to picture this. :s Do you mean when I cook with them is there just skins mixed in with the tomatoes? If that's what you mean, yes, once in awhile I'll notice skin with no tomato/meat flesh attached to it but texture wise, it has never changed the taste or texture of anything I've…

There are quite a few studies that indicate pre-eclampsia is related to not enough protein. I wonder if post baby (since this is hormone related high bp) increasing your protein intake would help? Minced garlic is a good flavor addition to most foods. Either fresh crushed or costco sells large quantities of minced garlic…

I don't peel mine at all. Never have. I pull them from the garden, wash well, dice them, and can with a tsp. of basil, oregano, and garlic. Works perfectly everytime. I've also discovered that cherry tomatoes can ten times faster then large beef steak type (for when I'm feeling really lazy). :D

Check into the insurance aspect. Mine was covered because they took into account I was a decent weight and was clearly still big chested. My surgeon was required to provide pictures to the insurance company as well. They look at the medical aspects of damage being caused (at least they do in the US) as a part of the…

Did you know you can actually freeze tomatoes whole and pull them out as you need them? I prefer to can them, but if someone didn't want to go to the work of doing that, freezing is an excellent option. :)

This is a very good point. The main reason I couldn't BF was because they ended up completely removing my n*pples (sorry for that mental picture) while doing my reduction. That is not something they normally have to do, but in my case they did. That is where the nerves were cut which made me lose let down for nursing. But…

This entire thing made me LOL. The cloth vs. natural childbirth thing is so real! Even between my husband and I this argument rages. He hated natural childbirth (we had Bradley births) because the nurses were mean to him when they saw him trying to talk me through things and reminding me that I had specifically told him no…

I know you were asking another poster but thought I'd share as well (b/c this is a hard decision for most people!). I was a person who was fairly small in body size but very large chested even as a teen. In my early 20's I had a breast reduction. On the one hand, I have no regrets and was sooooo happy when it was done. I…

This.^^^^ I am generally one that eats a whole food diet but when I want something that I consider "junk food" (which is like a bowl of cereal or kettle chips in our house), I don't consider it a "cheat." I make it work within my day. Any issues I have with maintaining a deficit beyond that are purely emotional for me. But…

I got pancreatitis at 13 weeks that made me an instant gestational diabetic. I went full term. They wanted to induce me three weeks early and we refused. I delivered on my due date (I went a week over with my others) bc they refused to let me go over bc of the GD. I had my smallest baby. She was 8.10 and was named Peanut…

Welcome back. May you find success and support for your journey. I HIGHLY recommend working through the book and workbook called The Beck Diet Solution. It's not a book about what to eat. It's a book that teaches cognitive behavioral therapy for changing unwanted food habits. Doing this while working on losing has helped…

Who told you this? There are A LOT of people allergic to eggs (and egg white in particular) and a lot of people that don't know they are allergic to eggs but actually are (we were there at one time). We couldn't touch them in our house for almost 7yrs. My son was highly allergic to them. Probably should be careful with a…

I use pea protein (I found NatureAde to be the best in terms of having no flavor) and egg white protein.
