SueSueDio week 5 weigh in: previous: 160.5 current: 160.5 I completely forgot to weigh myself this morning (the cats were nagging too enthusiastically for food!), so this is yesterday's weight instead - I reckon it was about the same today. A little disappointed that it didn't stay down, as I was 159.5 on Wednesday and…

Congratulations! :)

I've never really been a follower of fashion, even when I was young and slim, but now in my fifties I'm finding that I take much more of an interest in clothing and style than I ever did when I was bigger! I'm not too worried about whatever the latest trends are, but I like being able to choose clothes that actually fit…

Yep... and whenever my mother made tea or coffee for me as a youngster she automatically put two sugars in it because that's how she liked hers, so that's the taste I grew up with. It took me quite a while to wean myself off that when I was in my late teens or so, but after I did I found that it tasted odd to have sugar in…

Sugar is the latest Diet Devil (along with carbs in general), and many publications etc. will try to convince people that they can't possibly lose weight unless they cut it out. As you've discovered for yourself, it's not true. :) Congratulations on your weight loss!

This would have been me, had I not learned that I could still have chocolate, pizza and other foods I loved AND lose weight. I do eat more healthily than I used to, as a result of realising how many calories are in certain foods - some of those I rarely eat now because they're not worth the calories to me any more, some I…

Hah ah ah ahhhh.... Funny Duck... ;)

Do vampires need to follow the Blood Type Diet? :)

Take a photo wearing different clothes. Even if you have to go to a store changing room to do it, find something close fitting and take photos. (Even if you don't think it's particularly flattering you'll probably be able to see some differences, but if you can find something that you think looks good as well, that would…

I weigh the raw ingredients as I'm making the recipe and build it using that, not cooked weights. (Unless it's something like already-cooked chicken in a recipe, in which case I'll look for a suitable "cooked" entry in the database to add as an ingredient.)

I'm in Canada now, and I do miss some of the stuff I used to buy at Tesco! ;)

Aww... thank you, I appreciate that. One of them was sick anyway, although we hoped he'd hang on a while, but the other was unexpected. Unfortunately with the current economy here, replacing the job is not as easy as it might be!

If you can find the Sprague brand soups where you are, their Organic Sweet Potato Soup and Organic Lentil Soup are both good and filling, and less than 300 calories for the whole can. Good luck - I don't envy your situation! At least it's only for 10 days...

This is the issue I've been having. I lost around 75lbs, and since October I've regained about 16 of them. Most of that has been more recent, after losing two of my beloved cats and my job in less than two months, and I'm finding that depression is making it very difficult for me to get back on track. I hate that I let…

I'm also 5'6" and started at almost 220lbs, and I lost an average of 1lb per week on 1400 calories. I was truly sedentary though - unemployed and barely getting 2000 steps around the house, not doing any purposeful exercise. You sound as if you should at least be "lightly active", if not more. Any deliberate exercise…

SueSueDio week 4 weigh in: previous: 161.5 current: 160.5 So happy that I didn't get the pound or so of water weight that I was expecting after yesterday's sodium intake...! It actually went down instead. :) Ironically, if I'd kept my weigh in day as Wednesday I'd have been able to post 160, but it's all good. ;) Now to…

I like that! :) Visual or physical things can be very helpful at times, I think. I need to make myself some more charts - I like colouring in little blocks and feeling accomplished when I have several of them filled in!

If you're sure your logging is accurate, then consider adding some calorie-dense foods to bring up your total without feeling stuffed: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10142490/a-list-of-calorie-dense-foods/p1

I'm afraid you're going to have to have patience. :) You're already a healthy weight so it's most likely going to take some time to lose the few pounds that you want to - possibly months rather than weeks. I have no idea if 1500 is a deficit for you, it depends on your activity level and all the other info you enter into…

What did you discover?

Are you weighing all your food (not using measuring cups or eyeballing) and choosing accurate entries in the database? You could be eating more calories than you think. https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1080242/a-guide-to-get-you-started-on-your-path-to-sexypants/p1…

It's very hard to be accurate with restaurant food - even if there's nutritional info on the company's website, it depends on how the individual chef made it that day, among other things. Best you can do is learn to make an educated guess, and see over time whether your expected rate of loss lines up with the calories…

I was introduced to this site a few years ago by a friend - I didn't listen at first either! I was one of those people certain that I had "a slow metabolism" or I was "eating the wrong foods" - I was completely convinced that I didn't really eat very much! Weighing my food and logging the amount of calories I was actually…

Absolutely. I find it hard to believe that every papaya and ear of corn you eat is the exact same size and weight, for example. Also, do you never have milk on your cereal? I see a few entries for Corn Pops with just fruit or other cereals, and I for one couldn't eat them without milk no matter how much I like them! :) Do…

But are you actually weighing all of your food? It's important. Your entries suggest that you're not. https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10634517/you-dont-use-a-food-scale/p1
-
Bah... my weight was down yesterday, and it's back up today! On the plus side, I've been managing a small deficit for the most part so I hope the scale might reward me come weigh-in day... ;)

truRoots ancient grain pasta is one of the best-tasting GF pastas I've tried, but in all cases I find they're better mixed in a sauce or as part of a one-pot meal than "naked". Plain GF pasta is not a pleasant thing, IMO! (GF spaghetti is just slimy and revolting, from the brands I've tried.) GF bread is another matter,…

Fair enough, and thank you! I'll try to remember the format next time. :)
