  • The door is caught behind the moulding/door frame of the closet door (or whatever it is) - OP said they tried to gently prise that off but couldn't. I still say just cut the thing open... What if there IS something valuable in there? How can you stand not knowing?!
  • Walking and fun stuff done, on track with water and calories today too. :) (And my weight has been down a little... I'm hoping it holds (or drops more) until the weekend and doesn't go up again before my weigh in! ;) )
  • @jugar I looked at the spreadsheets for the first time today, and noticed that I'm down as "NWI" for the first week, July 6. I did post on the 6th (161lbs), but it was at 10:52pm MDT so maybe counts as "late" as far as you're concerned? It wasn't "missed", though! :)
  • It's an actual door.
  • Exactly! Even if it's nothing exciting, I would have to know! OP, get a jigsaw or something, like someone else suggested, and just cut along the bottom above the moulding. Get that sucker open and put us out of our misery!

  • Obese people already have a lot of muscle - built from having to carry around such a heavy body. Exercising to retain as much of that muscle as possible whilst losing fat is an excellent idea, since it's much easier to retain it than to rebuild it after losing it along with the fat. Your suggestion appears to be to just…
  • I've kind of been doing it quietly - I set four for each day this week: 1. Walk every day (inside or out) for at least 10-15 minutes. (Yesterday 45m, today 52m) 2. Drink at least 4 cups of water per day. (Achieved yesterday, on track for today.) 3. Stay under maintenance calories, try for a deficit. (I've been struggling…
  • Make it a Registered Dietitian, not a nutritionist.
  • I'm so sorry for your loss, and I hope that in time you'll be able to think of your husband with less pain. My soulmate and I always, always, always say "I love you" when one of us leaves the house. Part of the reason is that his mother was killed in a road accident while walking the dog - "she just went out and she didn't…
  • Take your best guess at what the ingredients are and the relative proportions of them, and log something appropriate. If it helps, too, take photos of your plates. It seems like everyone photographs their food these days for Instagram or Facebook, so I'm sure it wouldn't seem odd for you to snap some pics to help you with…
  • Saturday weigh in: Username: SueSueDio Last week: 162.5 lbs This week: 161.5 lbs Could be better, but at least it didn't go up even more!
  • Are you using a food scale for everything you eat, and logging all your drinks, oils, condiments etc.? Unfortunately, in the majority of cases someone who isn't losing weight when they think they're keeping within their calorie goal is actually eating more than they think due to logging errors, inconsistency, "cheat days"…
  • Eat less calories than you need, and you'll lose weight whether or not you exercise. :) You don't have to eat so little that you feel hungry and/or ill - it shouldn't be torture - but you might feel a bit hungry at the start just because you're used to eating more. Drop your calories down slowly to get used to eating less,…
  • Must be time for a bump...

  • Or another possibility - I don't know where you live but here in Canada pharmacists can now write prescriptions for minor ailments, and in case they can be good sources of advice on other issues. It might be worth calling in to talk with yours and see if they can offer any suggestions?

  • Is there a walk-in clinic in your area that you might be able to go to, rather than having to wait another 2.5 weeks when you're in pain and can hardly eat? That will be nearly six weeks since your issues started.

  • Saturday weigh in: Username: SueSueDio Last week: 161lbs This week: 162.5lbs... :( I know why this is. I know what I need to do. Why is it so hard to just get on and DO it?! Argh. Sorry for bringing the average down. (I'm also about three days behind on the chat, so hugs, cheers or commiserations as appropriate to those…
  • Being hypoglycemic and prone to feeling rather ill if I don't eat for a few hours, I don't know if my body would eventually adapt physically. I'm not really interested in unnecessary experimentation to see if it would, either, given how I feel when missing a meal normally! But I'm glad you found something that works for…
  • This was certainly the case for me! (Brit living in Canada.) I was lazy and didn't enjoy cooking, so I bought a lot of convenience foods and rarely made anything from scratch. We'd get takeout probably 3-4 times a month, and also drank a lot of pop. In some ways, being unemployed was a good thing for our family because I…
  • Heh... yeah, we were obviously typing at the same time! :) Made me look twice too, when I refreshed the page... ;)
  • OP, the threads linked earlier might be helpful/insightful for you. I know it's disheartening though! I've always had a bit of a belly, even when I was young and slim, and I seem to hold more weight there than anywhere else. I've gained back several pounds over the past few months due to some stressful times and emotional…

  • The exercise you're already doing is awesome. :) Don't feel like you have to exercise for hours to see results. I was obese for about 25 years, and I resisted trying to lose weight because I believed that to do so I'd have to give up all the foods I loved and spend hours in the gym. I finally lost over 70lbs after the age…
