GREETINGS! New member to this group. Here's a few from this weekend from the Appalachian Trail 2016 Kick-off event at the the Southern Approach trail near Springer Mountain and Amicalola Falls. I am in NW Georgia but if anyone wants to add me on MFP, that would be great. I would like to connect with more hikers/backpackers…

Hi Mauriluce! I also recently switched from WW to MFP. I started WW mid-Dec 2015, and paralleled my tracking with MFP for the comparison. I dropped WW 3 weeks ago because I found that I felt LESS GUILTY about the choices I made with what I ate. Changing eating habits won't happen overnight, and I felt like WW gave you…

I guess I never really noticed but I realized "runger" happened to me all day today. Glad you brought it to our attention. It makes sense. At least I can adjust for it and justify why it's happening now. (And not because I'm an out-of-control hungry person!)

I'm assuming you are working out in the morning? I try to get in a bit of protein and a piece of fruit beforehand so I'm not as ravenous. It seems to help me out in my post recovery.
-
Add me to the egg bandwagon too. A hard boiled egg, some fruit, and coffee will tide me over for a few hours. One day I forgot the egg but had everything else (including more food), but I was starving after a couple hours. The protein from the egg was essential.

I can only speak from personal experience. But I was in the Marine Corps, so I can only relate with their rigorous fitness standards. I would continue your path since you have seemed to lose weight already by doing what you are doing. But perhaps improve your running (gradually). Also, if you are already teamed up with a…

^^^ This all day.
-
ooh rah. Let's do this Devil Dog.
-
Same here. Feel free to add me.
-
Same here. I lost 30 lbs back in 2009. But my company stopped the program (free), then I ended up gaining it all back plus more. I didn't feel like I learned anything about nutrition to sustain myself outside of the program. I feel like with MFP, I can.

I agree. I'm happy it works for some folks. I just felt like I need more detailed knowledge of what I was putting in my body (looking at macros etc). And yes, it does feel like a little bit of fat shaming goes on. And a sense of "OMG I had ONE COOKIE!" embarrassment as well.

Low fat Cool Whip with a bunch of mixed berries (usually frozen), so everything is cold and "crunchy".
-
You have just given me hope.
-
How often is he monitoring your caloric intake? Are you going to visit him regularly?
-
Thank you. I have been TRYING to think along those lines but I really needed to also hear it from someone else. Please thank your dietitian as well. :) CHEERS!
-
Just go by that chart. ^^^ That's how we used to measure our hydration in the Marine Corps. Super easy. I try to get to #1 (no pun intended) before lunch time.

I enjoy the discussion! :D I LOVE that I can come here and inquire, so folks can debunk the junk! (I did like the info and research puffbrat added to the conversation.) There's too much info overload nowadays.

Actually there is, in parts of Asia, Africa, far north America, and South America. Homogeneous when it comes to genetics means common/similar, not exact (which I am assuming is what you are thinking). :)
-
And hilarity
-
I should have clarified in my OP by stating folks who are genetically homogeneous. :) And since I didn't, it invited a whole slew of other comments and confusion. lol
-
Indigenous, I was referring to food of my heritage. Makes perfect sense.
-
Who says I'm blaming them. LOL And allergies? What allergies?
-
Maybe I should just blame GMO's, it seems easier.
-
There are other foods that I cannot tolerate, cows milk was only one example.
-
This was very much in my line of thinking...
-
This is the input I was hoping for! Thanks!
-
This speaks about entire generations, not just your ancestors from long long ago.
-
Well, this isn't just speaking about only the "average life span of 30-ish" ancestors, this is not about that Paleo stuff at all. Both my grandmothers lived to their late 90's. I'm speaking of the diets THEY eat, and how genetically things are passed down generationally (if that's a word). ;)

Well I know that 85% of Asians are lactose intolerant. I know my body feels different (digestive wise) when I eat indigenous foods as opposed to an American diet.
