I have a problem ingesting protein in large quantities so I can't take regular protein powders. I take BCAAs to help. I found a world of difference in my endurance after taking it. I use it pre, during, and post but I dilute it greatly. (I'm not bodybuilding, but I practice martial arts daily so my goals/reasons might be…

I didn't get the Force Nutrition one, but I just purchased Cellucor BCAA. I feel a world of difference in my endurance and energy. I'm not gassed out at the end of class. It's like night and day. I exercise in the evenings so I have the opportunity to sip on it all day.

I've had to dabble in my skills a handful of rare times when I used to bartend, and I needed to keep control on someone. Also once (while I was out) when a drunk guy was being super obnoxious saying I can't submit him. lol But lately no.

Ok whew. Thank goodness I'm not an elite athlete! LOL Thanks @quiksylver296

BJJ practitioner here. :D

BJJ 3-4x a week. (3x GI & 1x No-GI) I'm about to embark on some kettlebell and bodyweight exercises to enhance it on the off days. It's addicting. And it's hard trying not to want to buy the cool looking GI's as well. lol
-
I do BJJ. My goal, once reached is to buy a really awesome looking rashguard (usually run about $60-80). Right now my shirts are looser to hide my slight belly (during No-GI). And also to splurge on a Shoyoroll or Muaewear GI.

^^^ THIS. nosajjao, when I was pregnant, I craved Jay's potato chips and dark chocolate and cheese all together. So according to your "logic" I was addicted to it? NOT LIKELY.

WOW! 70 lbs is no small feat! That was a lot of sacrifice and lifestyle changes. That's so awesome! :)

I have had the same body shape (larger belly) since after I had my first child, then the 2nd made it worse. I could do a million traditional ab exercises to tone help strengthen it but it still will look "distended". I found that it was Diastis Recti, where your muscle walls have separated. There are certain exercises that…

I prep on Sunday. I'll usually roast/bake a 5 pieces of chicken (one for each day). Bake enough starch/carb for the week (halved sweet potatoes or acorn/butternut squash). And (I am lazy) portion frozen veggies into 5 small containers and grab one for each day. You can bake the starch/carb in the oven with the chicken so…

I LOVE to do all those things too. But I found I HAVE to put myself first. Start with baby steps. Let's start with this one. "You can't workout weekends because you have your daughter." - Who says working out ONLY has to be in a GYM? I don't belong to ANY gym. I don't know how old she is, but you two can go hiking/walking…

Greetings! I'm a Marine Corps vet. This is a great place to become accountable for your food and exercise decisions provided you are truly honest with yourself. Good luck on your journey!
-
I am a Marine Corps veteran. I also married a Marine so we were a two Marine household. I deployed WAAAAAAAYYY more than he did.

Being here keeps me off FB, which is a bit crazy at the moment (political posts and what not). lol

You should have done another full marathon instead of that half! Shame on you for not trying harder! (ludicrous) LOL

I feel like MFP is LESS tracking than WW. You have to still weigh everything the exact same as MFP in order to be accurate, but then have to convert all those to SP. The only time it's "easier" is the veggies and fruits. But why should you NOT count those? Do you know, for example, that a banana can have 20g of sugar? It's…

I did just that. Kickstarted the change in my eating habits in mid-Dec (due to health and age). Joined Weight Watchers (free through work) at the end of Dec. Did well, but felt like I still didn't have a full grasp of nutrition. Logged back into this old MFP account. Started parallel tracking on WW and MFP. Moved away from…

I LOVE coffee however I have a tendency to overdo it, then end up with intense caffeine headaches when I don't have it. So I have limited myself to 2-3 cups each week. I drink various teas to compensate.
-
I jump rope to ramp up the intensity. It burns quite a lot of calories.

There's a great section for backpacking on the Chattooga that's not too strenuous. Sites along the river and small day hikes to various falls.

I hope you consider visiting SC again! There are dozens upon dozens of waterfalls in the area as well. :)

Looks like you've got some Oliva's in that pack. Maybe a couple Melanio Torpedos and a Serie G?? :)

Shrubberies are my trade. I am a shrubber. My name is Roger the Shrubber. I arrange, design, and sell shrubberies. Well... my name isn't really Roger. lol

OOH-RAH! No excuses. Let's do it!

All of this is great advice. ^^^ I've been backpacking for 24 years (and counting). There is A LOT you can learn from backpacking with an experienced person even if you've been an outdoors-person your whole life. And the whole safety factor comes into play especially in bear country.
