  • Bump. Anybody have any thoughts?
  • I'm not one to look ahead, but I had to after NoxDineen's post. I started Week 5 today- it was a bit of struggle for Day 1. I'm not one to look ahead, but I did go ahead and look at Day 3. 20 minutes straight? Gulp. I might be seeing repeats in the future. But you know what? I do not foresee quitting.
  • momshrinks has it right. I finished Week 4 yesterday, and I am due to start Week 5 tomorrow. So far I have not had to repeat a week, but I will if I feel I am not ready The last two days I ran it was rough on my knees. I see a new doctor Monday for physical. He is also a runner, so I need to get some input from him. When I…
  • I have wondered that too. I have gone under without being hungry and I was fine. A couple of times, without trying, I went WAY under, and I felt extremely tired and lethargic the next day, so I think you have to be careful not to go too far under, even if you are not hungry.
  • According to the site, everyone needs to have a BMI of 174.8969125 in order to not add any weight to the population. Took me a while to get the BMI to run to zero tons (tonnes) added.
  • ^^^^ This. Keep going, man!
  • You look 10 years younger! Awesome job! I have to ask, because I am big guy myself, do you think you will have trouble keeping it off? I have heard the horror stories and would like to try what you did, but I don't want my weight to come back with a vengeance.
  • I'm a lab tech I've supported computer tech I'm a former HL7 interface engineer I'm an ordained Baptist minister I'm an adjunct professor of two Health Care IT classes and of a Business course at a private university.
  • What are the first signs of this syndrome? On my left leg, on the outside area above knee, where my thigh starts (origin/insertion point of my thigh muscle?), there is an achy, almost cold, feeling there. Does this describe the beginning of this syndrome? Everyone once in a while it can be described as a very mild pain. I…
  • I went back and looked at your before and after photos again. I'm a guy, so I hope this isn't weird, but I am inspired and awed, and very hopeful about what i can accomplish. Thanks so much again for sharing!
  • 2.1 miles? Wow, that's great! But I wonder if I am doing something wrong, because my GPS says 1.2 miles total for me. I think I need to to a track Friday and see how far I go in the time allotted for the training. I know I take shorter strides, but I am not ready to stretch my strides, plus I walk in my front, which years…
  • To those who are just starting, just hang in there. Listen to your bodies and do not get hurt. BUT be willing to push yourself just a bit further than what you think your limit is. You will succeed! I look back at W1D1 and I see how far I have come. You, too, will do the same thing.
  • Yes I do, it has been a literal Godsend for me. And thanks Krys_140!
  • To 4milesat40: And you did all this impressive work without resorting to extreme measures. You are as successful as the people on those TV shows, like Extreme Makeover Weight Loss Edition, and others. You have much to give yourself credit for, because it started by getting it right in your mind. Congratulations!
  • You have a blue shirt on!
  • I Googled stroke volume, I hadn't thought about that since college- had to refresh my memory. How do I keep it up, just continue doing the same- running, walking, eating right?
  • I must have been crazy the other day- I started Week 4 Day 1 today. I am feeling it today- I'm exhausted! But I finished it all the way through!
  • @ mamabear0222: You can do it. And if you keep at it, eat right, drink lots of water, and most of all, stretch and rest, it will get easier. If you need support, send me a friend request- you WILL have my support! Hang in there and you will succeed!
  • It is ABSOLUTELY perfect for couch potatoes. I was spud-in-chief over all couch potatoes. I am starting Week 4 Day 1 in the morning. I encourage you to check with your doctor, get some real running shoes (I am looking at some now so I don't hurt myself), and check in EVERY DAY to get support, inspiration, and motivation. I…
  • I am taking a break this morning, but I am really wanting to get out and run. I am definitely following all the good advice- I don't want to sabotage my progress by overdoing it, and then starting over (or worse, quitting). A couple of people have said that as one becomes able to run further distances, that the need to run…
  • Did the desire to run take you by surprise as well?
  • Thanks so much for the advice. I pray you will not have a stress fracture in your ankle!
  • Ok, lauleipop, point taken. :) I will accept both terms, runner and athlete, with appreciation!
  • Well, my craving was satisfied after just a half mile (not really satisfied, but that is all I can do for now). I can fancy calling myself a runner (maybe), but I'm not an athlete yet! :)
  • To those of you who said I am now a runner, you don;t know how you just made my day, month, or year. Especially the first reply from wbgolden: "You just became a runner. :D" That hit me like a ton of bricks. It's awesome.
  • The guy that wrote a C25K app for the iPhone (5K Challenge- the one I use) also has a blog, and one of his posts addresses this: http://www.my5kchallenge.com/post/2012/04/11/We-Dont-Know-Were-Fat.aspx
  • People say I'm always clowning around. So to a shark I'd taste funny. :p
  • Hey Betsy, how are you doing?
  • You can do it- I am 11 pounds into my 150 pound journey, and I am actually enjoying the journey! Friend me if you wish, and you will have support!
  • In a meeting at work. 300 people. The chair broke. Granted, these are crappy chairs that break with skinny people sometimes, but everyone remembers when the fat guy broke the chair.
