I've never had Starbucks so I don't know what I'm comparing it too. But I make a cup of French Vanilla flavoured coffee (Tassimo), add a tsp of sugar, skim milk and chill it. When it's cold I take it out and toss it in a larger cup/glass with some ice cubes and away I go! Now, maybe this seems rich to me because I normally…

You make me smile. lol It's funny how much we think about swimming while swimming, eh? Is it because our heads are under water? When I bike, my mind drifts to so many other things, but when I swim, it's all about swimming. Maybe our brains do that so we don't drown. haha I think that's why I like it so much. I'm soooo…

I'm 5'7. I've never been at healthy weight so I don't know what I look like there. SW was 260, CW is 231. My first goal is 160. Then body recomp and I'll evaluate how much farther I want to go. My best guess is around 140-145

Thanks guys! That's a big help

I'm still very new to biking too. I plan on having my bike fitted at the beginning of next season. When I first started riding I had those problems too. I found I kept tweaking the seat height until suddenly it was easier to pedal (it's now A LOT higher than when I started), then an adjustment to the tilt of the seat and…

I don't have a fit bit. But from what I gather it adjusts your calories automatically without logging exercise? If that's the case. For the challenge just log your exercises into MFP and change the calories burned to 1. The challenge will then recognize your activity without affecting your calorie goal.
-
I only walk to work, so it's included in my calories already - lightly active. I only log purposeful exercise, daily activities like commuting to work, working, housework etc aren't considered exercise for me.

I'm currently 235lbs. I do body weight training M-W-F and cardio Sun-Tues-Th. Saturday is my rest day. This is a good mix for me. I've been loosing steadily with this routine. I loose faster with cardio but I want to try to maintain as much muscle as possible.

Huh. This is interesting. I always weigh my food right before I put it on my plate. So meat is cooked. Now, I have a lot of weight to loose, so I can have a bigger caloric variance than those with less to loose, but it works well for me this way... so far. What's the reason for weighing meat raw?

 Your husband is wrong. lol There are different methods, but MFP is specifically designed to allow people to loose weight without exercise. Therefore, eating back your exercise calories is correct, and will keep you in a healthy deficit. Good Luck to you, and keep doing what your doing. That 5 week weigh in will be…

Most people will say eat 50-75% of your exercise calories to account for MFP over estimating your burn. You have to fuel your workouts. Its has been working for me, I'm consistently loosing eating back the calories I burn. 700-800 net calories a day is dangerous. Aren't you hungry? You want your net calories to be 1200 not…

I was 260 and wore a 20-22. Now I'm 235 and solidly in an 18. I can't wait for size 16!!!

Doesn't matter. Go by the scale you weigh yourself on the most, which is your home scale. I always weigh more at the Dr's office. It's usually mid-day, after breakfast and a couple coffees, in my clothes. That's easily 5-6 lbs right there.

Ugh... Had a bad night in the pool. I did manage to fight through and hit a kilometer, but it was HARD. I don't know if it's the humidity, or not eating right today but I was fighting to breathe. Every breath didn't seem like enough air and every exhale felt like I wasn't expelling all my air. It was exhausting and brutal.…

I love the beach! Playing in the waves though, I've never done any open water swimming. But I plan to, I hopefully will be doing a sprint-triathlon next summer, which includes a 375m open water swim. I want to do a couple before the race, but I won't do it alone, so I don't know what I'm going to do. A man just drowned…

You're starting to relax!!! That made me smile. I love swimming so much I want everyone to feel like I do when they swim. lol I'm totally gonna bend over after my swim on Tuesday, see if my nose is a faucet too. haha I doubt it as I exhale out through my nose and mouth, but I'll die laughing if it happens. I…

I very often weigh the exact same 3, 4, 5 days in a row. The first time it happened I thought the scale was broken, but I now know it's how my body works. As long as I keep doing what I'm doing after those days I drop between 1-2 lbs overnight, a few ounces more the next day and then the cycle starts again. Which is…

Diet for fat/weight loss. Cardio for fitness. Weight training for muscle retention and body shaping. They're all separate but pieces of the same pie. I do all three. For me it would be dis-heartening to get to goal weight and not be fit.
-
Add me if you like  SW: 260 CW: 235 GW: 140-150? And dude!! I wanna do the splits!!!!
-
lol. I didn't realize other people were reading our ramblings!!
-
It would be a shame to quit swimming now when you're just starting to get the hang of it!!! Besides... who would I chat swimming with if you stopped???? lol I had a good night tonight swimming. I felt strong. I love when I feel strong in the pool. I swam 1200m in 55 mins! Yay me!!!

hm. So your options are $600 a year for the Y or $744 for the gym. Is it worth the extra $150 to avoid that area of town? Or, do you save $150 and turn those sour memories into a positive? Doesn't the Y offer lower rates for lower incomes? Is there just a pool that you can buy a pass to? A year pass to my pool is around…

I measure - bust, upper arm, waist, hips, thigh and calf.

Damn flip turns. I can't somersault without plugging my nose. lol I do a weird, floppy, embarrassing breast stroke turn. I know I'll have to work on it at some point, but meh, I only turn once before I break so it can wait imo. I plan on taking stroke correction classes in the fall, so maybe then. I just buy a pass to the…

YAY!!!!!! Lookit you go! :D I break at the end of every 100m. Cause I'm a wuss, and I'm dying. lol Seriously though, a month ago I had to stop every 25m. And 2 months ago I barely made it to the end of the pool. We'll be champs in no time!

awesome work!!!

I stand corrected. I'll call up my old swim coach and tell him he's wrong. lol It's been 23 years since I swam competitively, so I'm sure my memory is vague at best.

Actually, a lap is there and back, hence the word "lap" - a return to your starting point. In a 25m pool a lap is 50m. Yes, the calories are high for swimming. Remember it's a full body workout. For me personally, I find eating back 3/4 of MFP's estimated burn works. Whereas I only eat back 1/2 for biking and walking.

I definitely eat more when I'm watching my calories (previously points on WW), and I loose weight. I gain weight when I eat less food. The difference being the type of food. Sure, I can say I ate less food and gained, and it would be true, but the amount of calories in that food was astronomical. IMO, the saying is true,…

Click on the 3 horizontal lines in the left hand corner. Then touch the "progress" option. This is where you record your weight. If you then touch the "weight" button with the little graph beside it on the top left it will give you options on what to record/see. Problem is. I can't figure out how to add a new measurement…
