I forgot to add that baby oil has been working for my dry skin!

From watching some others at my pool, it definitely can be as relaxed as walking. I'm not there yet. I used to be, when I was a kid and swam all the frigging time (I was on the swim team). After almost 3 months of getting back into swimming and going twice a week, it's getting better but no, not yet. In the fall I plan on…

Seriously. Relax. lol When you warm up just swim. Stop thinking and just swim, enjoy yourself! This should be fun. When you're warmed up, then start focusing on your form and breathing. There's an exercise to help get relaxed in the water. Take in a deep breath. Then let yourself sink, releasing your breath under water.…

I think that's the best way to do it right there. The amount of calories you burn swinging a club is negligible. The exercise is the walking. I can whip around a course in a group with a power cart and not feel one bit tired. If I walk it? Different story. As for MFP I think the reason is because the calorie burn algorithm…

What time do you eat supper? Can you eat a little later to keep yourself satisfied through the evening?
-
Yep you can do it! Keep in mind while you're watching your calories that protein is extremely important for the elderly. I would suggest if possible seeing a dietician. Nutrient requirements for the the elderly are a little different than adults. I've never seen a diet under 1500 cal for an elderly person over 70 (I'm a…

You're a busy guy! I agree with PP that therapy is a good idea. They not only help with the emotional baggage but can give you strategies to manage life in general. Carve out some time for yourself every day, it will be beneficial to you and your boys. A healthy lifestyle will set the foundation for your kids to lead…

Mine magically fixed itself this morning after starting to act up on Monday evening. I could see all my friend's posts and updates but nothing of mine was showing up. It seems to be back to normal now.

Rollercoasters!!

I've lost 23 and have around 100 to go.

I do my best to. I'm a cook. So nibbles are part of my job. Right now (as I do have a lot of weight to lose) I estimate 100-200 cal a day for nibbles, and do my best to eat 100-200 cal under my daily goal to account for it. I know I'll have to tighten that up in the future, but it's working for me right now.

MFP is designed so that you loose weight without exercise. When you add exercise to your diary MFP expects you to eat those calories back and adds them to your daily total. More calories = higher carbs, fat etc. A lot of us eat back 50-75% of our exercise calories to account for MFP's overestimating of burned calories. For…

Dude! Don't swallow the water! lol Are you trying to swim fast? When I first got back into it I was swimming way to fast and my form was horrendous and I had no time for a breath. It was bad. I was watching a guy at my pool swim, gosh his stroke is so smooth and graceful. But I realized he swims reealllly slow. So, I tried…

You will continue to get better, I have no doubt. Are you swallowing water? I get water in my mouth during my inhale sometimes too, usually when I start getting tired and my body roll isn't as good as it should be. But I don't swallow it, I exhale it during the exhale phase. Sounds like you might be taking too long…

I drink 3-4 litres a day. Not including coffee, tea and the occasional sports drink if I'm on a long bike ride. I'm a cook, in a 37 degree celsius kitchen 3 litres goes down easy in 8 hours.

Peanut butter!!! 3 tablespoons (weighed of course) is 270 calories! It's my guilty pleasure after working out. lol

 Technically parts of Minnesota and Wisconsin are farther north than I am so you're imagination is right! lol My pools have limited lane swim times. Every morning for an hour and only twice a week in the evening, which is the only time I can go. So, it can get a little busy. I've been lucky and have only had to…

Congrats!!! My stats are almost identical, 75 days and 20lbs lost!! Hang in there, my best friend noticed yesterday that I'd lost. Surprised the crap out of me, as I can barely tell!

Society can only move as fast as their slowest person. By refusing socialism a country will only move backwards and not progress. Healthy people, who receive regular healthcare are more productive (ie. make more money) and contribute to the economy. By denying healthcare, everyone suffers.

I see a 1-3 lb fluctuation throughout the week. Normally by my official weigh in I've lost though. Weight isn't a static number. Think of your weight as a range instead of one number. As long as that range is lowering you're doing great!

Yep! I live in Ontario. Winters call for indoor activities, when the weather turns nice everyone is dying to get outside so no one goes to the indoor pool. The outdoor pool in my town opens this weekend, I'll be there instead of driving to the indoor pool in the next town. Gotta take advantage of the nice weather while we…

You need to eat back a portion of your exercise calories if you're not already. I pre plan post workout snacks into my day so I don't derail myself. I'm usually famished after a good workout.
-
The first few times back in the pool I felt the same as you have felt. But I promise, it truly does get easier, soon water will feel like second nature. Good for you for sticking with it!!!
-
I agree with this. When you put your bra on, bend over at the waist and smooth the excess into your bra cups. Your boobs will thank you!
-
Ahh!! Thanks!! I get it now. I wrongly thought that stronger muscles=hypertrophy.

I love the pool in the summer, there was literally 4 of us there. lol Had a great swim tonight. I hit a kilometer in under 40 mins, all done in 50m increments, which is great for me! I felt strong in the water tonight. Unfortunately, on my 44th length my calf cramped up and I couldn't keep going  I tried to…

For me eating fairly healthy and exercising beats the cravings. Most of the time. lol When it's unbearable I just eat whatever I'm craving, but only a small amount. Then I'm good.

Whiskey and water with lime or club soda if you like the fizz

Ugh, I hate when I loose track of laps.

Hi! I'm from ON too. I live up by Owen Sound.
