Getting pneumonia helps, too but having had it , I wouldn't recommend it

Sounds like the old eat tapeworms to lose weight gross bs

Older people need fewer calories to sustain their weight. People over 50 need to consider this . A 2000 calorie a day standard for women, 2500 for men does not apply. Metabolisms slow with age.

And it sounds so sexist and its insulting to someone who is trying to improve their health.

This is valuable information for me. I have nodule on my thyroid and I fear my thyroid may have to come out in less than a year. I have been worried about gaining weight after its removed and I'm on medication. The nodule isnt cancerous, my thyroid numbers are normal and Im not experiencing any difficulties with the nodule

I can not lose eating 1500 a day.My sister tried that too and couldn't lose. I got in trouble eating 2000 calories a day and to me that amount seems like excess.so my range is 1200 to lose,1500 to maintain

Awesomeness! Congrats and keep up the good work. I've lost 7 pounds in January, too. Obstaining from junk food, exercising and eating only fruits, veggies, beans and lean meat protein. My snacks are low sodium nuts

I had a total hysterectomy in 2003 at the age of 42 because of uterine fibroids. My GYN failed to tell me I would gain weight afterward. I ballooned an extra 26 pounds. A year or 2 later I was able to lose some weight through diet and exercise

This is a fad diet. I saw it mentioned in an article listing the top 10 worst diet fads of all time right up their with the grapefruit diet, the military diet and the sleeping beauty diet( where people took sedatives to knock themselves out for a couple of days)

Good points being made. Just to add, the first step to losing weight is really wanting to. Don't bother if its a half ***ed attempt because you are doomed to failure. I got serious when I looked at myself in my full length mirror while I was sitting in a chair. I saw my stomache hanging over my pants and was sickened.

I totally agree. Don't want to offend anyone who believes in not giving up all the junk food , but my belief is the only way to a healthy lifestyle change is to give up forever your problem foods. The foods that made you fat in the first place. Otherwise you will wind up repeating the cycle
-
Not me. One piece of pie leads to two or 3. One cookie leads to 6 or 7. I have learned that for me, junk food is an addiction and I'm better off not touching it all all. It only reminds me of how I got so fat.

I think it may be out of boredom. This is how I got so overweight. I would snack on junk all day. I would go into the kitchen to find something to eat out of something to do. I even felt hungry doing it but it was really emotional eating

Having willpower is a blessing. I can watch other people around me eating crap and I don't feel like giving in. My mind is fully locked in to losing weight. I think of how horrible I would feel if I ate piece of pie or cookies and the setback it would cause. Perhaps he could eat junk out of your sight and eat healthy when…

Absolutely! I have been guilty after past weight loss successes of not following through to make it a life change habit. The day I reached my goal I would go right back to my old eating habits. This is the downfall of the majority who lose weight. Now I understand I have to basically eat this way for the rest of my life…

Once you reach your goal, its easy to slip back into old eating habits if you are not vigilant. This happened to me the 3 previous times I lost weight. I know this time I can not go back to eating potato chips and cheese cake. I will be eating pretty much the same food as I do not but just enough more to keep from losing.…

Don't bother weighing yourself during your period. You will drive yourself crazy

Exactly! I don't know who came up with this notion of a "cheat day" is good for you when your trying to lose weight. I don't believe in them. They keep you from permanently moving toward a lifestyle change to good eating habits. They make you feel miserable after you've binged on the junk food, and just ensures that if you…

Willpower is a hard thing to maintain. I keep going on my weight loss journey by thinking of things like cookies as the enemy and I know if I gave in just once I would be harming myself. Don't buy or accept anything thats going to set you back. Save the money for something more worthwhile like shopping for a smaller sized…

Yep! Before I discovered the Fiber1 cereal and beans I tried drinking lots of water, which didn't help.

People 's eating habits differ when they are depressed. When I had bouts of depression and anxiety I lose my appetite. A few years ago I lost 9 lbs because of it. I find that engaging in a hobby or taking a long walk helps

Research shows that sugar can be as addictive as heroin, and I believe it. The main reason I've had a weight problem has been my never ending craving for sugary baked goods and candy bars. Its like being an alcoholic or drug addict. One little taste leads to a binge

Having a bowl of Fiber1 cereal always helps me+ a serving of kidney beans. Fiber1 contains 55% of your daily fiber requirement
