I got staples put in my throat yesterday evening (long story having to do with a blocked esophagus and an esophageal tear), so I hear ya on the sore throat thing. I'm on a liquid diet for a week, then soft foods only for three. That's OK, I wanted to lose that last ten pounds, anyway, haha! Getting ready for bed now. Back…

Totally worth it, as long as you act on the data it collects. It's not really good enough to track your activity, but you have to do something with that data. I just use a little Fitbit Zip to track my steps and MapMyFitness for logging other workouts. I lost about 70 pounds using the data and acting on it. I also have a…

Con: My gout came back almost immediately. Pro: Unknown. Gout sucks. Dropped the keto like a bad habit. So far, I've lost about 75 pounds the old-fashioned way, without special diets and with a lot of hard work. I wanted to try keto to convert my body from being primarily carb-fueled during long runs, to burning fat.…

Well, then. That happened, again.

I used the military BMI chart for my age range. I know that BMI isn't really a good measure to go by, but it works for the military, and I was in the military for a very long time. So . . . I used it, started exercising and tracking my macros, and I've lost 70 pounds so far. I'm 8 pounds from my goal, and in better shape…

Cheese. I must have cheese. Seriously. Some days, I will run an extra mile just so I can have an ounce of good cheese.

Started out Jan. 20, 2016 at 259 pounds and fairly sedentary. I ran my first race on July 4th, it was a four miler. Over the summer I ran a couple 5k races, and logged over a hundred miles. In early September I ran my first 10k, coming in first in my age bracket. I'm currently training for a half-marathon in April. So . .…

Fantastic! I'd like to say, you were very cute regardless, but the fit you looks amazing. Keep it up! Also, are you using a running app? I started with one of those "Couch_to_fiveK" things, and it really helped.

Hmmmm . . . I tried a lot of the fad stuff, even had a prescription for weight loss pills -- it doesn't work. Even if you do lose weight, it comes back, plus some, like ten or fifteen pounds. What works is what everyone here has said: Set up your MFP, exercise 4-5 times a week and log it, and log your food, set some goals.…

What are these "pajamas" you people speak of? Surely they're some sort of control mechanism designed by our reptilian overlords.

1 egg, over easy, on a slice of toast with Tabasco. Two single serving Greek yogurts with a half tablespoon of uncooked oatmeal in each. It's about 500 cal.

Started eleven days ago. 52 years old, used to be in shape (military) but . . . anyway started at 254, I'm at 246 now. As someone else said, start with little goals. I measure success a tenth of a mile at a time, man. You got this!!!
