Congrats!!! Setting realistic goals, reaching them and setting the next and getting there again is an awesome feeling.

I hover around 1200-1300 calories. I walk 4 days a week and I do not usually eat back those calories. I run about 3 days a week and I will eat back about 1/2 of those. I like my sweets. I tell people I run so I can eat. I watch what I eat but I will not deprive myself. If I want that pie, I'll eat it and then make sure I…

Thank you everyone for the suggestions. My mother took a nasty fall the day after I posted the question and died the following day. I have not had a chance to try any of it. I had ran right before I got the call of her fall, tried tracking what I ate for a couple days but nothing since. I did go for a short 3.5 mile run…

I have always increased carbs for runs but wondering if I should increase protein while trying to lose weight for the day before. I would continue with carbs the day of though. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks all for suggestions. I wish there was a "like" button as on facebook so I can acknowledge your wonderful ideas but not necessarily comment on each. Do know I greatly appreciate this. I have never had any kind of "professional" training. Internet and daughters that run have been my resources. I'm 51 and had never ran…

Absolutely, I'm thinking this was part of my problem Saturday. Thanks for reminding me. Need to stay focused on this.

My thought this morning was that I need to be increasing my calories the day before my runs to be ready. Normally I would increase carbs for running but not sure that is the right thing to do with reducing calories. I'm thinking I should increase my protein so hopefully not losing muscle during this. (carbs still for the…

What type do you do? I really know it would help my runs as for speed and endurance and needs to be added.

You are hitting it exactly. I've been considering concentrating less on my running and more on the weight loss for the time being. By 5-7 weeks I should be at my goal. My problem is I know how hard it is to get back to where you were when you decrease and don't want that to happen. (sprained my ankle last winter and…

I do not do much of any muscle strengthening. Definitely one of my downfalls. Keep saying I'm going to add it but to me going out running is so much easier and more enjoyable.

Very good points there. Run this morning went better

This is great info. Thank you.

Banana and peanut butter is definitely one of my favorite that I have before my runs. I try to eat protein and carbs about an hour before I go run then additional carbs right before. On a long run I will usually have an apple or orange with me to keep me going.

You are right, I can't maintain the running. Left my daughter to run on her own the past few times. Looking for food suggestions that are great for helping my running as well as help with continued weight loss.

I agree the suggestion is good. I'm looking for food suggestions that would help me with increasing my calories to fuel my run but will help with continued weight loss. I don't have lots to lose but I need to get it down or will have too many to lose.

Looking for good suggestions that help my running but also help with weight loss.

I've tried chocolate milk before and after runs and causes too much stomach issues. Not sure why. Occasionly have had some lactose issues but not consistently. Maybe with that and running is too much. The dizziness tends to be going up hills, little too much work for the lack of calories.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Thanks. My daughter likes to eat cottage cheese after her runs but I've never tried it. I'll give it a shot. I eat similar to the other items.

I feel pretty good unless I'm trying to run then I realize I need more intake. I want those calories to be good running fuel but also help with my weight loss desire. Any suggestions is appreciated.

I would like to lose about 1 lb a week. It puts my calorie intake at about 1280 calories a day. I'm usually around that. I will admit though, I don't add a lot of extra calories unless it is a day of my long run. I walk 35-45 minutes most days at a moderate pace but really don't even count those calories used. I've decided…

I have found this as a big issue. I check each ingredient and change as necessary. And yes, garlic seems to be the biggest issue. If I find one ingredient with many choices with a wide range of calories for each, I will google the item and try to chose one as close to it as possible. I cook most of my meals so entering…

I have to agree with all of it. 1. Love/hate relationship. My daughters and the way I feel after is the only thing that keeps me going, 2. definitely the toe nail issues (black, take forever to grow back, I'm buying shoes a size bigger but still have the problem) 3. chafing in places you never thought of (after 2 years of…
