  • Former college hockey player here. Trying to get back out there...but it has been a while. Skating tomorrow for the first time since my last knee injury. It is getting close!
  • I'm near Dallas.
  • I work in an office and hate sitting still. I'm on the 16th floor, so I'll go walk the stairs a few times a day to keep moving. And I drink around a gallon and a half of water while I'm here, so that causes me to take some additional steps. But we've also got a gym here that I use during my lunch break.
  • I've got two kids and I miss gym sessions. It'll happen in life. Don't worry about it and move on to the next. Missing a workout here or there isn't the end of the world.
  • I had it for a while. My sister is a physical therapist and she recommended that I buy some marbles and use my toes to pick them up and put them in a cup. It sounds stupid, but it works. I do it once a day, 40 marbles per foot and I haven't had an issue since.
  • It isn't easy. The first step is truly wanting to stop. I was drinking liquor daily, and even though I was working out and eating fairly well it was impacting my health and fitness. I'm only 32+ days without a drink now, but I feel so much better than I did 33 days ago. It is hard to describe how much better I truly feel.…
  • @Mycophilia Thank you for the link. I will read that page. @JayDam1 It is working, just making sure a change wouldn't make things work better. :) @Carlos_421 Thank you. I will continue taking it and keep enjoying my progress. haha.
  • That's what I was thinking, but I wanted to get some input from others on here that are far more knowledgeable than me on the subject. I have been taking it since I changed my diet for cutting. My body fat percentage has dropped, and I have lost weight to coincide with the amount of body fat dropped. I check my weight to…
  • This is what I'm working on. I can't do a full clean one yet, but I'm getting there. Definitely not as clean as Bruce Lee anyway. Haha.

  • On cardio equipment is fine, like others have said, people talk to each other on the cardio equipment. But I get annoyed when people are on the phone tying up benches or other equipment without actually using it when I could be putting it to good use. However, I don't have any problems asking them if I can work in while…
  • I have reached 31 days without alcohol. The next test is my work trip next week where everyone drinks pretty heavy. But I'm going to make it through it without a drop and keep this thing going! I'm feeling great.
  • I did Krav Maga for a while, but my knee can't handle a lot of it right now. It is a heck of a workout and a great way to burn calories without getting bored. Haha.
  • I do my weight training first and then get on the ARC for HIIT or longer cardio. I love the ARC, it is good on my knee. But if I do it first, my weightlifting suffers far more than my cardio suffers by doing weights first...even on leg days. I also eat 300 or so calories (of my 2700) about 75 to 90 minutes prior to my…
  • Mine are elevated when I've been doing intense workouts for a while. I've never done crossfit, and have no intention of doing so. But I do a lot of heavy lifting and HIIT workouts. Right now I'm rehabbing a hockey knee injury, so my levels are still down. But they'll be off again once I'm back at full speed. They thought I…
  • I've gone to 3 docs including my one that I've been using since my college hockey days. None of them want to touch it and they said I won't be running long distances again. I can go about a mile and still walk fine the next day. It is feeling good though since I'm not doing prolonged impact moves. Short bouts of plyo or a…
  • @SonyaCele I have a TRX that I bring from time to time. But I should definitely use that more. @Hornsby I have a mountain bike and a road bike. But I live near Dallas, TX. My elevation training on them is maybe 100 feet. Haha. I do go ride though.
  • Like others have said, do what works best for you. I workout from 10:30 to noon during the weekdays because that is when the gym at my work is pretty empty and it allows me to use the most of my time in there. Some people like to workout in the mornings before work, others after to blow off steam or relax. But you have to…
  • I have a torn meniscus in one of my knees, so those workouts used to be tricky for me too. The way I built up to them was doing them every other day, stretching a LOT, and foam rolling. I've also done a lot of stability work on my knees that has zero or minimal impact. Try tapering back the Insanity (plyometric moves) and…
  • Calories in vs Calories out. As long as you're at a deficit, you will lose weight (there might be some extreme cases where this isn't true, but for almost everyone, it holds true). So you can lose weight without working out, if you choose. But there are MANY benefits to working out besides losing weight and putting on…

  • My rest days are going for a walk, stretching, and foam rolling. It is 100% worth it. Recovery has more impact on your fitness than the actual time spent working out (assuming you are working out regularly and properly).
  • Focus on the nutrition. The abs will come. My lower abs are my last spot to show too. Just be patient and stick with what has worked to get you to this point as long as you feel it is still progressing (meaning you haven't hit a plateau that might require some shaking things up).
  • Well, I went out last night with a group of friends (to the bar that I had my last drink at) and didn't have a single drink...and had a good time. The super bowl party is at my house tonight, so not drinking will be simple. The streak is alive. 28+ days. Haha.
  • This might sound stupid, but seeing my progress has caused me to ramp up my workouts this week. It got me fired up to see what I've been doing has been working and my workouts feel like they've been even better this week. Haha. My nutrition has been on as well. Hopefully I can keep this going and not get to the "Ok, I'm at…
  • I have no scientific data to back this up, as they didn't cover that in my accounting or auto-tech classes in college. But I will say that it definitely helps keep my anxiety under control and I rarely have issues with it any more (and I don't take meds anymore for it either).
  • I workout alone and my work gym is usually pretty empty....and I love it. But I get like a kid on Christmas when it is about 30 minutes before my workout. I love working out, the challenge of it, and pushing myself. Try mixing up your routine a lot so that you're not always doing the same things every time you go in. It…
  • Leg days are my favorite. I work them twice a week every week as well as my knee stability work to keep it going after the last knee injury. Am I sore after them? Sure. Do I regret parking on the 4th level of the parking garage since I'm horrified of elevators? Sure. Hahaha. But dang is it worth it. (My work has a gym and…
  • That's awesome, I wasn't thinking I would inspire anyone else with this post, but this is great!
  • Thanks everyone. Still haven't had a drink, 25+ days. And it is still paying off. I feel a lot better than I did a month ago. And I'm seeing a big difference in the mirror too (1 year progress pic in my profile from this week). I've been able to have fun with friends and family without drinking too...imagine that. Hahaha.
  • Honestly, I just carry a shaker bottle around with me full of water. I haven't gone out the last couple of weeks, we've just had people over at my house. So it has been easy. I'll be tested this weekend when I go out and then I have a work trip in a couple of weeks where people drink heavy. So I'm going to have to figure…
  • Thank you both. That was one of the points I was hoping to show with this, the scale isn't everything. My body fat percentage has changed a lot while my weight hasn't. Still more to go!
