Best times for cardio/weights if splitting into two workouts?
I'm working towards playing hockey again. And while I've been working out regularly for years and I'm in good shape, I'm not in hockey shape. So I have to have a solid mix of cardio and strength. I have my workouts figured out and know what to do with them. But I'm going to start splitting them into two workouts a day…

Hockey training ideas?
I am getting back into hockey after about 5 years off, I played for 20+. I'm skating daily in inline skates along with my other workouts to get back out there. I'm in good shape, but not hockey shape. Any hockey players out there care to share what you're doing these days?

3 weeks without alcohol
I know for a lot of people, 3 weeks without a drink isn't a big deal. And I am not writing this saying that it is a big deal. I just wanted to put my thoughts into written word. I was drinking 1 or 2 drinks a night and then Friday/Saturday I'd have 3 or 4. So I wasn't getting hammered regularly or anything like that. And…

Insanity and heavy lifting
Is anyone else doing Insanity and heavy lifting including leg days? I added Insanity back into the mix a couple of weeks ago and love it. I had been doing lifting and 20 minutes of HIIT as part of the knee rehab process. I'm not trying to bulk up, I'm trying to get back into hockey shape. And I used to do this regularly…

Body Fat % methods. Which is better?
I am 100% sure this has been answered a thousand times on here. But I've been searching and searching for answers on here using the Search feature and I'm not coming across it. I am working on cutting body fat, I'm not worried about weight other than using it as part of the formula for how much I should eat. My overall…

Groin injury and correct nutritional adjustments
My normal workouts are a mix of lifting and HIIT. I pulled my groin skating on Sunday, so I'm not doing HIIT or any leg training while it heals up. Hopefully it won't take long, but I want to make sure I'm adjusting my nutrition correctly. I will be doing upper body lifting during this time. I am 5'11" and 205. I've been…

Finally get to skate again!
I know most won't care, but I'm psyched. I finally get to put my skates on again tomorrow. I tore my MCL and meniscus. They didn't see the meniscus tear the first time, I went back in and they saw the tear there. But it was on the outer portion and was supposed to heal up on its own. During the rehab process I tore my MCL…

Creatine supplement while cutting?
I understand some of the basics of what creatine does and why to take it. I'm not doing any type of show or trying to hit a certain number on the scale. I am just trying to burn body fat while maintaining strength. Is there any reason that a creatine supplement would negatively impact that? So far I am progressing as I…

Non-impact leg strength training moves?
I've got a torn meniscus, and the doctor isn't going to fix it. I've been working around it for a year+ now and it really isn't a big deal anymore as long as I keep things to minimal or no impact. I don't run anymore, just ARC, elliptical, or cycle. I do a lot of leg strength training, with extra focus on…

Knee injury - Recovery progress
So here is my before/current pics... I have lost 3 pounds between the pics, I'm now at 206. I have been focused more on strength, feeling better, and dropping body fat. I don't care much what the scale says. haha. The before is when I decided to get back after it with the knee injury. I had a torn MCL which is no big deal,…

Issues posting pics? Any suggestions?
I am having trouble posting pics onto the page. The app on my Android doesn't have the icon to do it. But I have tried on my laptop using IE, Chrome, and Firefox. The page icon is there to upload pics or post the URL, but when I click on them, nothing happens. Same issue when I try from my phone using IE or Chrome on…

35 year old dad bod to fit dad...
Hello. I am a 35 year old father of 2, looking for some accountability with my nutrition. I love working out, 6 days a week is easy for me to do because it is fun. My downfall is nutrition. I've used this site in the past and it was helpful, so hopefully it is again. As you can see in my pics, I'm not in terrible shape and…

Back on MFP to track for events
I haven't been on here in a few years, I have been using other tracking methods and I have been working out regularly (6 days a week, twice a day several days a week) the whole time I was gone. Just back to using this to track my meals to shake things up. I've been using some other things that worked well, but this worked…

Weighted core strength moves?
Keeping a strong core is obviously critical. I do a ton of the non-weighted core work. And I do things like a standing cable twist with a good amount of weight that hit the obliques. I add in a twist on a single arm cable chest press as part of the movement. What other good weighted core workouts do you like to do?
