I know most won't care, but I'm psyched. I finally get to put my skates on again tomorrow. I tore my MCL and meniscus. They didn't see the meniscus tear the first time, I went back in and they saw the tear there. But it was on the outer portion and was supposed to heal up on its own. During the rehab process I tore my MCL again. They didn't want to do surgery, just more rest and rehab. Which I did. I spent a year working on that and it wasn't getting better. So I worked with my sister, she is a physical therapist, and put together a workout plan that would be safe to build up strength around my knee. I'm about 14 months into that plan now and the knee feels great (progress pics on my page). Part of the reason it took so long to get back was that I got WAY out of shape during the rehab process. Depression, not eating right, not fully working out...excuses excuses excuses.
Tomorrow I am putting on my skates for the first time since the injury and I can't freakin wait. I'm only going skating, not playing hockey. But this is another step towards getting back out there. I grew up playing ice and inline hockey, from when I was really little through college and then rec leagues after that. The weather is going to be nice here tomorrow, so I'm going to put my inlines on instead of going ice skating. But I am pumped!
