A friendly lady who works in our corner shop looked me in the eye today and said " You know, I can see you've lost an awful lot of weight. You look really good." Now this is, relatively speaking, a stranger who sees me every few days, and for me it's a really objective marker of progress. It was kind of her to mention it.…

I'm back in,just returned from Italy and jumped straight back on my bike. This month will be a mix of autumn countryside and indoor stationary bike, depending on the weather. 9/10 12.7 miles near Tadley @sakvani, if it is any help, I moved from indoor to outdoor biking this year and enjoy a mountain bike for its strength…

My DH is a long term cyclist and for years has been fitter and faster than me, so I gave up. Now since March I have been practicing and today I managed to outpace him, hee hee. I can't quite believe it. He was a bit put out.

My box has an apple, some prunes, a slice of cheese, fout Carr's Melts, an oat crunchy bar and some cherry tomatoes , for tomorrow. Bitty but easy and fun to eat.

Double shifts and working out of town at the moment so the only bike time I get is at night on the stationary bike in my workshop sometimes... Keeping at it when I CAN; next chances to get out on the roads are mid Oct though. Thinking of investing in a better spin bike as the current one is at a funny angle for my back.…

Ugh, today was a mix: did several jobs I'd been nervous of, which went well, but in the evening I had to travel and stay over away from home which really preyed on my mind all day: cue nervous eating. So. Just for Wednesday It's a stressful upsetting day (ordering a tombstone) so, give myself a break Bank breakfast…

Not sure if this is an NSV but I realise I've not been this narrow / unwide since 2000. Many people have commented that I look years younger, I guess this is why. Still more to lose but, it's progress.

I was bent over double sweeping wood shavings into a dustpan when I realized I felt different doing it than usual - no discomfort, able to breathe, not with the bursting feeling I used to get when bending down to the floor. Felt such a novelty I kept sweeping, just for the heck of it.

@tcaley4 and @sljomial thank you for that good advice. I feel a general ambition towards improvement but unsure how to take a steady step rather than a big one into a ride I won't manage! If I were to go North across the A4 the scenery (Bucklebury etc) gets seriously pretty but the hills are brutal. I would love to be able…

Back after travels and in for September! Weather today looks blustery . I am cycling to the architectural antiques dealer to look for an old mangle to convert into an etching press. I love my bike. On the 31st it took me to visit the blacksmith who will convert the mangle. He accepted the job then told me how much he hates…

Hi, I'm in Berkshire, lost 4 st since January and looking to lose another 3 or 4. My secret weapon is my bicycle and the hills near my house. Have been a yo yo dieter all my life but hoping this time not to backslide more than a couple of pounds now and then!
