I used to have thinning hair (not sure if it's related to PCOS I'm still jumping through the diagnostic hoops) but taking a prenatal vitamin combined with a low carb/diabetic diet really helped to improve it.

I think people who weight train/climb like I do tend to be heavier but more toned than people who do just aerobic/cardio exercise. Or at least that's what I've observed. I'm not too fussed at the scale right now - happy with gradual weight loss. Aiming for 74ish so I can get down to a size 10/12.

This is why I started climbing - circuit indoor bouldering can burn approx 60 calories for every 5 minutes you're ascending on the wall (depends on the route. Overhangs burn far more calories) The climbing gyms I use give you a whole day pass so I usually try to climb continuously for 5-10mins, rest, then repeat for as…

What annoys me are the people who say it's possible to eat 3 meals of a 'traditional' vegetarian Indian diet and still be healthy just because their skinny relatives in India had sudden death (rather than heart attack) on their death certificates. A single traditional indian meal has between 1-2 thousand calories - it was…

You can lose up to 4 ibs a week safely. Unfortunately for OP that extra 2 ibs can only be achieved through exercise, not just diet (unless you're obese).

I find eating a whole avocado for breakfast with a tsp spoon of olive oil at 5am sets me up nicely until lunch at approx 2pm. Lunch is whole/real sources of protein ie chicken breast, smoked salmon, tofu, or a big raw salad with nuts and absolutely no grains (I get tired if I eat them for lunch). I then eat a bit of…

A friend told me the same thing (she's on a plant diet too) and I didn't believe her so one day we weighed all the food she ate. She thought she was eating 800 calories/day but in fact she was eating 1500, which was too much for her height (she is sedentary and 5 ft tall). When she started weighing her food & actually…

Am 5 5 and 80kg and am pear shaped/heavy bottomed. Wear a UK size 14 but sometimes a 12. I have a tiny waist in comparison with the rest of me & am relatively toned, so it fools the eye into thinking I'm smaller than I am.

I walk uphill for 1 hr everyday, always have, and still have that pouch. The only thing that it responds to is diet. You might not be overweight but if your diet is based on carbs or high in veg that makes you bloat, then switching to protein/fats might help. Also drink more water and eat less salt.

This is rubbish. My family is from India but even as little as a 1,000 years ago India didn't exist and it's people were mostly soldiers from other places (in the case of my family - Tibet, Taiwan, Nepal, Egypt, Iran though I look very Indian).

At your weight anything less than 1900 calories would work to help you lose weight - so don't worry if you have to up your intake. It's only as you lose weight that you then have to continually reassess your target.
