Honestly I think that society is so distorted with all the overweight people that are walking around, that our idea of normal is shifted away from what is truly healthy, healthy is suddently skinny or skin and bones. Overweight seems to be the newly accepted normal (at least from what I have observed). I am nearly 250lbs…

It's definitely not a bad thing to work on building muscle during a weightloss journey. The more muscle we have the more fat our bodies burn at rest because it takes energy to sustain that muscle. Maybe give some cardio intervals a try? You don't even need equipment, just a few simple exercises (skipping, burpees, mountain…

I think women often underestimate the amount of work it takes to get that "bulky" look. It's a lot of dedication to build quality muscle and be lean, for both men and women, but especially women given all of our hormone differences and fluctuation. As others have mentioned, beans, lentils, tofu, seitan, protein powders etc…

I agree, it's kind of sad that the label of vegan has such a negative connotation to it. I swear we aren't all crazy or going to push our beliefs on others! :) I am looking forward to seeing that documentary, I have heard a lot of great things! I will send you a friends request. I have been eating plant based for the last…

Make a point to get up ever so often and go for a walk around the office. Drink water from a smaller glass so you have to leave your desk to go fill it up more often. Drink lots of water so you are having to get up and go to the washroom. If you drive to work, park as far away from the building as possible, or better yet…

absolutely - especially when I am back at the gym after a long break. The scale won't move but my body shape can change pretty quickly. I always recommend that both measurements and the scale are considered when on a weightloss journey

Welcome! Let's be pals!

maybe if you feel like you want to finish it but hate this phase just revert back to the workouts from a phase you enjoyed? Then you aren't quitting you're just adapting the program to suit your likes and dislikes?

I don't have an issue with soy or protein powders personally but if I am looking for more of a protein punch that is neither of those things I will add lentils, black beans (all beans really), seitan to my meals. Super inexpensive too! Lentils are yummy and versatile Amount Per 100 grams Calories 116 Total Fat 0.4 g 0%…

That is outstanding! I am so happy to hear you are finding that this is working. Wishing you all the success

I am so sorry that they did that. I am SOO proud of you for continuing your walk! People are ridiculous and I will never understand why someone would yell anything rude at a stranger. I hope knowing we are all supporting you, have your back and think you are doing awesome helps make your day a little better.

I agree - they'd mostly just add fat (delicious creaminess!)

A first step might be to try and replicate those things you love using vegan alternatives. Vegan chick'n strips and vegan cheese sauce as example. There are so many substitutes now a days to experiment with. That will get you back cooking and make you feel like you aren't being "deprived" of something you've enjoyed in the…

On a dating site - my profile said "collar-poppers need not apply" and "top 40 makes me want to stab myself in the ear with a rusty spoon" He sent me a message asking if I had heard of Skeletonwitch (which I hadn't) and that got us chatting - every day for a month. We went to meet up at the cliche coffee shop, when he got…

The only pants I haven't had creep on me have been from Fabletics, compression & high waisted. I have tried Nike, Old Navy, Gap, Lululemon, the works! I am glad I am finally not having to hike my pants up all the time!

This movie is LIFE! <3

Congrats on the huge loss, that is a fabulous accomplishment!!!

Thanks for sharing this, I have never seen one quite so easy to use before!

Lentils are great - super high fiber and easy to make. I like doing lentil curries or soups. They are normally very quick to make too which is a bonus.

I am typically glued to my desk, aside from trips to the mail room and bathroom breaks. I am able to eat at my desk so I use my lunch hour to workout. I am extremely grateful for my company having a wonderful and free gym (it's in the building across the street from me, so it can be tricky to always find motivation when…

I agree - it doesn't matter when just as long as you always pick that same time each week.
-
maybe just tell yourself that you will take the weekend or a week off from logging? have a day that you plan to start again but have a break? You've done amazing work losing that much already!!

HIIT (high intensity interval training) can be applied to running or to exercises such as squatting. HIIT is considered to be much more effective than normal cardio because the intensity is higher and you are able to increase both your aerobic and anaerobic endurance while burning more fat than ever before. "In research,…

check out Cheap Lazy Vegan on youtube, she has great ideas on how to eat well for little money, she has a series on (If I remember correctly) $20 a week or something along those lines too.

If you just started working out and hitting the weights you might not see the scale move for a little bit. I've noticed this happens to me religiously when I pick up weights at the gym after being away for a while, even when my food is on point. Make sure you do measurements - you will see your progress there for the first…

9 years later neither of us cares, we just make funny shocked faces at the other and ask if they stepped on a duck.
