Just barely 5'8 and 52. My ultimate goal is 155 but I'm fairly happy hovering at 166.

It's both simple, and terribly hard. You get back on track by eating ONE meal on plan. And then you repeat it. If you screw it up, you eat one meal on plan, and repeat it. Work on getting rid of the all or nothing idea, because as you work to change your habits, you WILL mess up, make bad choices, and mess up. If you are…

Really, your appetite, energy level, bloodwork, and the scale will tell you if you are one the right track for YOU!

I don't worry too much about either, but I stopped adding both to things I eat or make myself. I use differect kind of spices instead. There is still plenty of both in many of the packaged things I buy, though. Just me sensible and moderate. Works with most things.

Everyone is different. For me, I've lost 110 pounds and eat a lot of carbs. Over the course of my WL I've moved to mostly whole grains, beans and veggies, but carbs in general are my friends. I do best with the "balanced" diet with protein and carbs at every meal.

Simple advice. Don't quit. Eat what you like and PLAY with food. Try new healthy things. Play around with how much you eat and how often and when. Find menues and schedules that work for YOU. Don't pay too much attention to what othrrs tell you you should be doing. Listen to your body and yhe scalen Eat enough protein and…

It makes sense. Sadly it might make some folks think it's impossible to keep it off in the long term. Thank goodness that with MFP we see people succeeding every day.

I have 15 pounds to go until my goal and I eat 1400 a day. Once a week I have a social meal where I eat whatever I want and I dont track on holidays or vacations. Seems to work and I lose 1 - 2 lbs a week, on average. I've lost 110 pounds this way.

I've lost 110 pounds with no special "diet". I eat lots of whole grains and veggies, some chicken and fish, and diary every day. I eat around 1400 calories with a weekly social splurge most weekends. One meal only. And I track calories most days. That's it. No gimmicks needed. If I gain a couple of pounds I tighten it up,…

I lost 90 lbs on WW and loved it. I quit after the last program change and have learned to like MFP too.

105 pounds down, here. Same story. Same results. There was no magic or constant perfection. Just refusing to quit and working it day to day. If I can ANYONE can!

I've always defined eating clean as eating things with ingredients that I could pronounce, for the most part. No chemicals, atificial colors. No preservatives. Little bleaching or processing that strips out nutrients. That sort of thing. It's certainly not a bad way to go. But I know very few folks who are fanatic about it…

Eating a small snack before bed won't hurt a thing as long as you are staying below that deficit line. For me, it's a nightly occurance.

I'm 52 and 5'7 and still lose well on 1400 a day. Not tired at all. Tinker with what you eat and the calories until you find a good balance that worths for you. It's best to think more long term and sustainable. At 1200 I would not be able to stick with it long term but everyone is different.

I've lost 110 pounds and STILL binge occasionally. What helped was was to stop beating myself up about it and THINK HARD about the triggers. For me that was either true hunger or getting too far away from routine. So, I tinkered with what and when I ate to make sure I was never really hungry, and I set a livable routine in…

Bravo! I'm 52 and have lost 110 pounds and know well how loose skin works. I liken it to being an old sad deflated balloon. Remember how those looked? Soft. Saggy and oddly wrinkled. But I remind myself that it was ALL there before I lost weight. Just filled with the fat that made me sick and exhausted. NO ONE likes it.…

I think everyone who has a serious weight problem has this issue to some degree. I certainly did. Teaching yourself to just push through it is the key. Start every DAY fresh. No waiting a week to get back on track. Accept the fall and move on. It gets easier to do the more often you do it. It did for me 112 pounds down to…

Motivation comes and goes. Stubborn pig headed cussedness can last a lifetime. Just take quitting off the table as an option and start every day fresh. Simple and hard at the same time.

I eat a banana most days and have lost 111 pounds. I think they're fine.

So very happy for you! It IS hard, and it takes awhile to really click, and you need to grow and learn and change so much, but isn't it worth it?? Oh yes!!

So many others, including myself, have this problem at Onederland. It's completely mental and the only way through it is to just keep working on it. There is no magic bullet here. Just decide tomorrow that you will hit the store for food you like that will fit your plan and start over. If you mess it up, hit your plan the…

Set a goal you can reach, while feeling good about food choices. 1 pound a week is great. 1.5 can be do-able. 2 is a stretch in the long term. And with 100 to go, you NEED to plan long term. I've lost 110. I averaged 1.5 per week, but one week could be 3, and the next .5, even when doing the same things. Don't give the…

Personally, I need a solid BK with a good amt of protein and good carbs to avoid being hungry later in the day and bingeing. I just don't understand why there is a debate. If you do this diet thing long enough and are successful, you figure out what works for you. What others think or do is irrelevant.

111 lost now!
-
Thanks! A few to many wrinkles for that. But that's fine. I earned them.
-
I didn't find it too much slower. But I was less able to absorb the inevitable mistakes and con time to lose.
-
Good for you! It's worth everything.

My first 50 pounds lost happened while eating these or Smart Ones every day. No issues. Now I prep most meals ahead but I still grab these for emergencies.

I researched bariatric surgery, and even went to the classes offered at the hospital. In the end, although my insurance covered it, I couldn't afford the huge deductible without saving for a couple of years. The idea of remaining were I was (a painful 275 pounds) for those years was a motivator to just try to lose it on my…

I don't go to quite that extent - would never try to eat 400-600 calories- but I do vary my caloric intake during a given week, and often include ONE big blow-out meal every week or two. My low day/s is sometimes 1000 but not less. For me that works, and is a plateau breaker. But nothing works for everyone. Play around…
