You know how when you stand straight up and you rest your hands on your love handles? You can do that when you don't have love handles anymore... what am I supposed to do with my hands now!

She said yes!!

It's not a specific NSV, but I've been able to noticeably kick my workout intensity up a notch the past several weeks. My stamina is increasing and I'm able to lift heavier weights and do more sets. The scale hasn't moved a ton but my physique is changing, my pants are looser so I know I'm replacing fat with muscle and…

Raise your hand if you've bought a seperate laudry basket only for gym gear? ✋

I logged nearly everyday from Feb thru sometime in Sept when I got cocky... and lazy... and I've backslid a few lbs. Well the past 3-4 weeks I've been hitting the gym harder than ever and now I've logged 4 consecutive days in a row. I can already tell it's making a difference as I feel less bloated in the mid section.…

Quick update, since this post I've continued to lost weight and have gone from 299 to 234 as of my last weigh in. It's been a super difficult fourth quarter but I'm being more active again on the community boards here to try and kickstart my hard work to lost these next 35 lbs to get under 200. Add me if you'd like. Also…

Finally joined the YMCA after months of talking. The one near me in San Diego is really nice. I had always had a low opinion of the Y. I'm excited that they have a 10 lane outdoor pool

15 months and 130 lbs apart

I've said the same thing to people when they comment on how complicated or difficult it must be.. I'm just like "yeah, it's not easy but it's just about making good choice... And math. It's just the math of eating properly."

As I've gone from 367 to 238 so far people are more and more regularly asking me what my goal weight is, knowing I'm ever closer to a healthy size. I tell them my ultimate goal isn't actually a weight but to have a six pack. They laugh and then say "but really, what's your goal weight?" To which I respond by saying "I…

lol. Been there. A week ago or so I'd finished my run on the treadmill and stood up to just start catching my breath and I placed my hands on where my love handles had been and they slipped off and I was like "Awww I don't have my hand rests on my side anymore..." A good problem to have for sure

It wasn't my intent to diss or bring you down. I'm sorry I was not more clear. I interpreted your original post as hedging that surgery wasn't what you really wanted to do. You do you!

Dudddddeeeee!!! Way to go! Your story makes me feel like I'm looking in a mirror. I was 367 when I downloaded MFP. I've also downloaded and completed both C25K and C210K, and I even have a Garmin Vivosmart and use the Garmin Connect app. I've lost 128 lbs and now weigh under 240. Keep it up man! Congrats!

It seems to me like you know the answer, that you don't need the surgery. Certainly it's up to you, ultimately, but it just seems you're trying to convince yourself you NEED the surgery, but you know in your heart how far you've made it and how you can have success without surgery. You're currently at 420. I started at…

By context I figure "humping" holds different meaning in Europe than in the states... Still the imagery of this made me chuckle...

Sorta scale related but I got below 240, weighing in at 238 this am. Why is that significant? Because my license has for years lied by having my weight listed at 240... Now I'm under that for the first time in about 10 years! It's fun to be under my license weight

Everyone is in it for the money when it comes to their job. That's a primary reason why we work... That said, it is your money, you determine what value you're looking to get out of it. I can tell you that when I had a trainer in 2011 I didn't really get stronger or lose weight but I think I had a great trainer. The lack…

Uh-uh. No way! Flour tortilla for life!

1) noting more and more the emergence of bones at joints - knee cap sticking out, both sides of my ankles, fingers... It's weird 2) went out to dinner on Saturday and put on an XXL shirt and it just looked stupid big on me so I had to change it to XL before I left. I remember crying in the dressing room when I faced the…

I'm fairly certain, OP, that I'm smelling what you're stepping in and that your post has simply gone far over the heads of 99.99% of those replying. I may be wrong. My First reaction was that the money Ive spent on my fitness is absolutely not a waste. But as I read through the replies I realized you played the role of…

And yet the fact remains that all those people who eat fish but give up meat are still factually wrong. Fish is meat. How is this even a question up for debate.

Some of this may seem basic, but there's too much hate on this thread so I'll give my two cents: 1. Water is good. Necessary. Since I've started losing weight I've probably about doubled my water intake. I had a conversation with a very overweight woman I work with who said she probably drinks about one bottles worth of…

Similar for me. I started the year doing C25K and then C210K, and am now regularly running just over 6 miles in an hour, but if I stop to walk I just can't get my legs moving in a good pace again, I'm not sure why. Once I get going I won't stop because then I will not able to comfortable going again. Unless I'm doing a…

Stand up and do calf raises for a couple of minutes every hour

Do what you feel comfortable doing. Talk to the instructor that you need to pull it back a little bit so that they don't think you're just wasting their time. You have to be able to go at a pace that you're comfortable with so you don't burn out and walk away from it. Your capacity for exercise will come from doing it more…

Yup. I always use the recipe builder when putting several ingredients together. If I'm preparing 4 or 6 meals and I'm too lazy to weigh them out into even portions then I'll just divide it into how many meals it is and though one meal might be slightly bigger or smaller than the other, it all totals the same once you…

I had to wake up and realize that I had to do tho for me because I believed I was worth it. I realized to achieve why I want in life (wife, kids, travel, long life) wasn't going to happen as I slowly inched up to 400 lbs before I turned 30. I've tried losing weight before with moderate success but always backslid until I…

Over the weekend I went to Ross and picked up size 36 jeans and several XL shirts. I started the year in 46 jeans and 3XL shirts. While I was self conscious of how I looked in them my gf kept telling me I looked great. Today I went out for my run after work before coming to devour the 20 or some odd hours of Olympics I've…
