  • I'm in the same situation! I'm down with a nasty flu, so I haven't been to the gym in about a week and a half, but I went out for a walk today instead and I feel great! Actually better than I did at the beginning of the day, so there is something to be said about getting fresh air!
  • Haha not at all, thank YOU for the advice!
  • At the moment I don't put much stock in the Google Maps estimation of the walking time, which is about an hour and a half, just because I'm pretty heavy and well as short, and thus a slower walker than average! But the cycling time is about the same as the public transit time (36 min v. 33 min) so maybe I'll try that if I…
  • Sounds like it'd be a good way for me to get started as well! The stops get pretty close by the time I reach work, so a couple to start with shouldn't be too hard to start with at all!
  • Hahahaha not at all, you sound like someone who knows how to set long-term achievable goals!!
  • I don't disagree, just the thought of it makes me wanna nap :P but at the same time, the idea that over time I could walk it in a shorter amount of time, or not be exhausted by the idea alone has put a bit of a fire in my belly!!
  • Man, I've never been a very good cyclist, but maybe I should give that a shot too! My poor bike has been gathering dust :P
  • Podcasts are my go-to way to keep my mind active while I work out too! I'll definitely try getting off early come Monday. Maybe I'll do the reverse when I leave work and walk along the metro paths until I'm tired enough to get on
  • I like your idea of getting off a few stops earlier though, that sounds like a great way to give it a test-run! I don't know if I would want to walk to AND from work, at least not at once; I had thought to do one or the other now that the weather in Montreal is finally turning pleasant again, but that IS still two hours of…
  • That's awesome! You've inspired me to just take the day today and walk around! I'm downloading an audiobook as we speak! Thanks for your story, advice, and positivity, I can't tell you how much it helps me to feel like I can maybe have the same success one day!
  • That's so interesting, thanks for the quick answer! In regards to walking then: you spend a lot of time walking in a day; do you do anything to keep you mind engaged? Listen to an audiobook, podcast, music, anything? I feel like it's hard for me to just workout without anything to engage my mind at the same time as my…
  • Congratulations on your amazing (and amazingly quick) life change and the results that came with it!! I'm incredibly impressed and motivated to keep going with my recently started weight loss journey! Could I ask you what your macros were, and when you progressed to physical activity beyond walking? Thanks, and congrats…
  • Although to be fair, it's gotten easier this past week, so like with anything, it's about practice, time and patience!
  • My macros are right around %5C, 25P, 70F! Although I often meet my protein goal and stay below my carb goal, hitting the day is really hard for me, as is hitting a minimum 1000 calorie goal, because the thing about Keto is that you just aren't HUNGRY often, so I often have to force myself to eat something so I don't end my…
  • I feel like a similar change is in the process of happening to me right now, slowly but surely. I started because after feeling unhappy with being fat for the first time in my life, I weighed myself, and the number on the scale was so far above what I thought it would be that it kind of jumpstarted the desire and…
  • Congrats on your achievement so far, and I wish you continued success in your journey towards weight loss and fitness!! I've just started a few weeks ago myself and I am in LOVE with this app!
  • Short for Ketogenic diet, where you eat low carbs high fat, average protein! I haven't gone full out in upping my fat intake so far, rather I'm focusing on keeping my daily net carbs in the 20-25 range, but it's working out pretty great for me so far! It helps that I'm also keeping my calorie count pretty low :P I decided…
  • Congrats on being so close to your goals! I've recently started eating Keto too, and I've already lost more than 8lbs in two weeks! It's super encouraging to see other people get the kind of results I'm after while following the same lifestyles I'm trying to keep!
  • Actually, if you wanna try it, feel free to add me; I've just started eating low carb too!
  • I recommend cutting carbs/sugars down to about 20g a day! My sister did that about five months ago while still leading a very sedentary lifestyle and she's shed about 55 pounds so far! I'm sure that a carb-almost-free diet and exercise will get you to your goal! :)
  • @MudstainSally yeah, nobody really tells you but it really is a nasty little side effect. As you say though, it pushed me on this path and I'm sure my life will be better for it, since I'm striving to commit to a lifestyle change as opposed to a crash diet! My goal is 150; I haven't been 140 since I was about 12-13 :P but…
  • Wow, thanks so much for the great tips!! I'll definitely implement more than a couple!
  • I agree about needing to feel at least a LITTLE soreness to feel as though my workout did anything, but I'm so sore in my shoulders/back/arms especially that it's hard for me to do even basic things like washing my hair or high fiving :P I think I'll opt for a hot bath tonight!
  • Awesome! Thanks for the advice! Do you think I should be ingesting my protein via protein rich foods, or should I invest in some protein supplements? Never really considered them before (kinda thought they were exclusively for beefy bodybuilders) but if they'd help with the soreness I could give them a shot?
  • I got up early in order to make breakfast (I'm a notorious breakfast skipper, but I'm trying to change!) and I made a lunch too!
  • I'm trying to lose 60lbs, just started a few days ago! Feel free to add me, we can cheer eachother on!
  • You're welcome to add me and read my diary! I've just started, but I'm committed to cutting as much sugar/carbs as I can! Let's to this together!
  • Hey, I'm 24, trying to lose weight for the first time! I would love an accountabili-buddy! Feel free to add me, as I have no idea how to do so :P
