  • OP, Take other's advices that you are doing great, on track, etc. BUT also consider the possibility that you may very well fail. It's just a matter of time if this feeling keeps up. We all have a breaking point! Do you dare to take a different route? Try something completely new and perhaps fits you better? Specifically,…
  • Definitely YES (great as salad)
  • Used to be every morning but I concluded that it was pointless. I just weigh after I put in a good effort with cutting back. The idea is to see if my effort is in line or needs to be more, less. Weighing in all other time is useless, waste of energy and can be detrimental.
  • How does your analogy fit in with the fact that people tend to increase their debts and eventually do a bankruptcy? :)
  • I love buffets. Last Sunday I went to Hometown with a friend, and as if it wasn't enough my wife and I went again on Monday. :o) To me buffet is like free electrical charge outlet. I get to load up alot of calories/energy for the road. That said, it all depends on how disciplined you are with the next few days, OP. My…
  • I whole heartedly love butter. Any kinds or forms of butter always have a place on my plate.
  • I've read about a guy who's done a month of diet on McDonald to prove a point about calories, but I have not seen anyone who has done a week with only carrot, cucumber, pepper, celery, essentially complex carb veggies. That would be very interesting from the point of calories.
  • Even 1000 or in my case a whole day worth of calories wouldn't make a difference. I stuffed myself at a buffet over 24 hours ago and nothing since, except a cup of coffee with a tsp of sugar this morning, and I'm feeling great! (My daily activity is light though ;)). Think of your body as a phone battery. The rate of…
  • Uh yes. There's not a single person on this earth who has become overweight from eating too much carrot, cucumber, pepper, celery. I would think you even lose energy from chewing, processing those veggies raw.
  • Eat less chips! I don't think there are too many calories in very few chips!! The suggestions of vegetables gave me a chuckle. That's essentially changing your favorite food. If you are ok with that, might as well switch salsa to vinegar. Veggies + vinegar = you even "earn" calorie points. This calorie minded eating starts…
  • Good question. I don't know. Another question is, at X weight, you carry water but at Y weight you no longer have/need it? Why the difference?
  • I eat heartily the important meals and (kinda) skip the rest. Important meals are defined as with family, friends, great foods, occasions, post work out session, and when too much wt is loss. No daily moderation, IF, worry about calories.
  • That's what I do - I control my weight basing on weekly period and I don't even count calories. Basically I eat per requirement of activities (workout, sport), nutrition, obligation, etc, which are not the same everyday.
  • It's different for me. I could fit the same amount of foods or even more today as I could when I was 26 lbs heavier. Frankly my appetite has become stronger and healthier so it's inevitable that I could eat more. But the difference now is foods are not that appealing to me, as in I have to eat or become out of control with…
  • I like Kommo's post! OP and all, it's only hard if you are constantly hungry, craving or feeling low energy. Eating would be just a thing to do once you have taken care of those issues. In fact to some people, such as my brother in law, eating is kind of a chore. Sometimes I feel like a portion isn't enough per my craving,…
  • I thought my tastes have changed per less cravings but with more thinking that's not really the case. IMO, judging this change on cravings is rather a poor basis! I still love pizza, burgers and they unquestionably taste much better than they did in the past, but I no longer crave for them uncontrollably. I absolutely can…
  • I think it's safe to assume that the OP is having an issue with including ice cream and losing wt at the same time, that's why she's here posting. So, it's kind of ridiculous to suggest moderation or fit the item into the calorie allowance. That would be repeating the same issue. With that said, I think I understand the OP…
  • It comes down to being confident, knowing, with certainty, the process you are doing. You are worried because you feel it's a crapshoot for you. I got the same worry at the start, but this time around I did a proof of concept and after that I felt settled and never looked back. For me now, it's like if I do A, I get B. No…
  • I repeatedly see this trapping of counting/logging that a "splurge" meal makes one feel that everything is derailed. Isn't this psychology interesting? OP, I don't count/log so I do not have the concept of splurge meals or being constantly on the wire, thus, no feeling of being derailed. I have an approach that everything,…
  • That reads a bit snobbish. :) I can't imagine or describe the variety of tastes that Carl Jrs or any junk fast food places come up for their burgers and other items. They are not simple tastes if they are made of a dozen ingredients and are processed in many ways and some of which cannot be done at home, thus you cannot be…
  • I don't understand how weighing food helps a person who's having a problem with eating less. OP, to stand a better chance of eating less, you need to select that kind of foods that less likely triggers your appetite, and the foods that leave you satisfied longer. I would avoid soda, sugary stuff such as donut. I have had…
  • I second this. This is what I do. It's interesting to me to see that a lot of people mis-routed the OP's point to something completely nonissue and then say they don't understand it. I don't think the OP fears the information or the scale itself. Who does? The underlining fear of the scale is one's fear of his own failure…
  • Strange day for me to run into so many contradicting thoughts/ideas. :) But nevertheless, interesting. I think you use boring foods all wrong. :) Boring foods such as a simple sandwich, boiled eggs, cucumber salad, are meant for you to fill up quickly without a ton of calories, while aren't bad at nutrition. There's very…
  • If you have no problem eating smaller portions, I don't know what challenge there is for you to lose or maintain your weight. :) Another interesting (weird to me) thing from your previous post is " Exercise has always made me feel depressed and angry afterwards," It should be the opposite, quoted the Web: "When you…
  • Hmm...everything is almost opposite for me. Boring foods tends to make me eat less and go do something else. Why would anyone want to fill way up with cucumbers, celery sticks? LOL. The key with this is...you actually have to eat boring foods in order to eat less. Interesting foods, occasions would make me overeat. Third…
  • I stopped weighing daily starting last month. I found that daily weighing daily was making me too conscious of my eating behavior which was not good, and beside my wt was only fluctuating 3, 4 lbs. My strategy now is to only weigh after the day that I spend effort on my diet, but only after 2, 3 weeks for substantial…
  • Back in the days when I was counting calories, I also found myself constantly craving and sometimes quite hungry. This was especially on top of cutting out triggering foods such as cokes, cheetoz, ice cream. Imagine how bad it could have been if I included them. I eventually realized that such cravings were inevitable and…
  • OP, Your and most failing dieters' problem comes down to...you love foods too much, to the point that it's detrimental, abusive. It may not be all your fault because you might never have looked at it that way, never tried to change "that relationship". Basically you unwittingly let it thrive and then now trying to reign it…
  • It really depends on how easy or difficult you are! For me lunch is very easy and simple. In fact now that I think about it, most of my meals have been easy. For lunch I have so many options: I keep boxes of nuts at my desk or stop by a supermarket deli on the way to pick up boiled eggs, pre made sandwiches, wraps or go to…
  • OP, Do you eat more on the days you work out or it's always "6 Days you are around 1,750" (I know it's just an example)?
