  • ^ this. Or a particular brand/type that I find very tasteful, which tends to be expensive, never on sale. I'm going away from the concept of buying on sale/discount breads. I could tell a difference in quality. Sellers are smart!
  • I trust slimfast and other quality meal replacement protein drinks sold at Costco. They seem to provide more complete nutrition than a meal you make yourself. However, it took me forever to finish a case of 24. I just got sick of the taste.
  • Scholarship, grants, financial aids, loans, work study, etc. I also started having a lot more money in my first year college. Enough to get me my own compact car.
  • Potato chips. BBQ, chili, cheddar, whatever flavors. These chips are full of flavors, salty, tangy, sweet, and very fun texture. They are washed down well with cold beer.
  • Bulllsh$#%%! Developed countries are the fattest countries. Some exception are the South Pacific, who were taught the "Western ways of eating". The list of the least obese countries comprised of third world countries. 13 JUNE 2017…
  • Sorry I'm not much of help here. I just know these pastries I got were made from flour, ground nuts and tons of sugar, butter, cream cheese and honey. I think you should be OK eating a couple squares of baklava Don't let your afraid ruin the experience. :)
  • Sigh, I really envy you. My wife said our family of 3 would literally die if she only spent $800 a month. I'm tired of arguments (over our daughter's overweight). So, whatever. In our home it's some sort of an achievement if my wife could skip grocery shopping for 3 days. Her record is 2 days.
  • OP, I don't know how pre-logging or any logging helps in the moment that you just want to say "F it" and eat everything in sight. Logging won't do crap to control my temptation. What helps me is do things that prevent me from getting to that moment in the first place. If you have identified that you tend to get out of…
  • If I plan snacks, they often lose their appeal. The other day I was very willing to drive a long distance and bought a boatload of Greek pastries. Enjoyed them so much that time but after that the left over (over half of the amount ) has been sitting in the fridge and I just don't feel like "wasting" my calories on them. I…
  • Yes, if I could get away with it. Like inconsequential with food. OP, whatever you call it, if you like eating excessively at certain time, just make room for it.
  • I fast or eat lightly during certain time. Not intermittent. I like to think of my way as intelligent fasting. :) I pick the days and time when my activities are light to fast or eat less. Also, I try to eat healthier, by nature kinda unappetizing, foods such as raw nuts, boiled eggs, avocado, etc.. Then in other non…
  • And I would never waste mental and physical energy, time on constantly managing foods. ;) Actually when I have winded up enough deficit, I will eat like a king in other time so to speak.
  • Eh..it's the magic in my approach though. I eat non appetizing foods in pre-hungry time so the out of control hungry time would never come. That's how it is easy to create a deficit for me. Does the idea make sense to you? Non appetizing food, preemptive eating.
  • Not trying to be cute with your name, but I start taking my hot tea with ...honey. It's really soothing and energy boosting.
  • Go for it. I wouldn't be doing my form of fasting if it wasn't working. Just like we've trained ourselves not to eat during night time, you could train yourself not to eat in a big block of awaken time. It certainly reduces your chance of eating.
  • Do you like sports and competition? Workout by self bores me to death. I pick up tennis and somehow all the drama and my competitiveness make all the intense playing feel easier than walking at the park, literally. I walk at the park for 45 minutes almost everyday for my daughter's exercise so I know. As for the other side…

  • Hmm...I just posted how I do it in another thread, in answering someone. :) ---- mom22dogs wrote: » » show previous quotes I agree - our brains are the enemy. If we could figure out how to shut off the craving/constant thought of things we want, losing weight would be a lot simpler. /quotes I wrote: That's basically the…
  • That's basically the thesis of my approach. I asked myself that question years back and worked on the answer. The answer I found is...you cannot and shouldn't shut off. However, one can very effectively manage it through effective managing of calories and eating schedule. Craving won't be around if you satisfy it. No…
  • I am not assuming anything applying to all, other foods. I am even against such generalization in my post. It's people that are dismissive to addictive properties of (certain) foods that you need to reply to.
  • Beef jerky is made with enormous amount of sugar. I can't think of anything else other than hard boiled eggs and grilled chicken breast.
  • Of course coffee is a food item. In what sense is it not?
  • You are confusing yourself when you are over generalizing food is food. You are (intentionally?) avoiding to look at specific foods. Celery is highly unlikely addictive. Coffee, alcohol are very likely addictive. There are real highs from them that people get. Btw, I sense that you are kinda lazy with thinking, the way you…
  • That's just how the body reacts, for a lot of people. Eating can be addictive because it's unmistakably a pleasure, a reward. Where there's a reward/pleasure, there's possible addiction. Food items can directly affect the brain chemistry which is biological. Take for example alcohol, which is quite a popular food item.…
  • I always believe that fruits and veggies in their original forms are too simplistic for our tastes. That's why not a lot of people crave them. Plant stuff is just too one dimensional. It's also more work (per reward) to consume fruits -- counter evolution -- than to consume cookies. My own resolution is to combine many…
  • It's not just the taste, there's satiety involved. The more you have the closer you get to the satiety point. So, 2nd serving is more satiated than the first, and the 3rd is more than the 2nd and so on... If moderation doesn't work for you, then don't do moderation. If I remember correctly you are one of those who have…
  • Wow that is so serious. Hope you get it under control.
  • I support fasting. I follow fasting/light eating but it's not intermittent or random. I synch it with my light activity days. Tips: don't be afraid to incorporate some fun alcohol drinks in your fasting. You'll find you have a lot of free time when you don't cook a full meal, and some nights go very slowly. Alcohol helps…
  • @christopmoore or whoever runs... Do you take into consideration the heart rate? That is like the first thing I pay attention to. I have a HR monitor that straps around the chest and my own chart to follow. I'm only worried about the heart, not the leg muscles.
  • For some reason I have never found any kind of sodas to be refreshing or thirst quenching. I just have about 40 oz of cherry coke from Carl Jrs. (love free refill) and as usual, 5 minutes later my mouth is sticky and dry. Tea on other hand is quite refreshing. I still drink soda for taste and sugar energy.
  • Sounds soo good. It's a pain in the crack for us to eat fruits straight also so we tend to blend them up with ice and a bit of sweeten juice. For me personally I add some coconut rum.
