  • Obviously not applicable for all but a good majority that make chocolate cover fruits come into existence. It blew my mind the first time I saw caramel apples, choco strawberries, etc...why would anyone want make these sweet fruits every sweeter..but now I've come to accept that the sweet taste is arbitrary. This place…
  • The next days I cut out all this added sugar and slept well!!! :) I know it's all anecdote but is there truth about not eating so much sugar before bedtime that kids were taught? (not cavity issue because we can brush.)
  • Probably not surprised that there is, but usually surprised about the amount. That's one of the factors that make people fat. They underestimate. Kinda like, regular whole apple is under-tasty. Caramel, choco covered apple is the standard.
  • Not that simple. This week I found another issue with excessive sugar. It wreaked havoc on my sleep. I consumed excessive ice cream and cake on the Mother Days and the left over on Tuesday and both nights I've had about 2 hours of sleep. The over all calorie amount I consumed since the weekend to now is still maintenance.…
  • Just curious, is BED possible in a home without food? how about when the person is outside? I know it takes a lot of consciousness of many things to order a lot of food in a restaurant. It seems difficult to happen, no?
  • Sorry, good catch. :) It was a low blood sugar moment for me. I meant weight, but this seems like a stale topic.
  • is LucasLean the only guy in this thread? I'm curious what other 5' 7 guys set their "perfect" height at. If they could share.
  • Why did you continue to restrict on day two, three, four...? That's just too many days that it's overkill for one day of excessive eating. Not surprise that you felt tired and lethargic. OP, I don't have a bad day or a cheat day, but what you said is the basis of my eating. On weekend I consume a whole lot of calories,…
  • without food it'll start eatting at your muscles and the fat also in order to get that energy. Right? Is that not the concept of how the body gets smaller, ie weightloss? (obviously you want this eating rate to not be so extreme that it's detrimental.)
  • Absolutely. I employ some of this. Instead of directly dealing with foods and calories, which is too late--resistance is tough, it's much better to go far upstream and address the source, what you call "cognitive behavior". You can achieve a lot by manipulating the mind. However, it's not all the mind though. You also need…
  • 4mph seems like running pace. You walk fast!
  • No shower like everyone else?
  • How many times do you eat in a day? If you split your weightloss allowance into too many little meals, you will naturally feel hungry after eating. You should have quickly come to the conclusion that because you are only allowed a measly portion a day, you better manage it wisely. Don't eat because the clock says it's time…
  • Microwaving is not cooking! :)
  • Fresh green tea leaves purchased daily and I helped making it -- boil water and pour over it in a big pot that lasted for a long time. The water had a greenish tint instead of yellow all the way. Then, in other decades when fresh leaves no longer available, it was just regular dry tea. My grandfather's memory is slipping…
  • Are they? I'm really asking. Can you replace all your drinking water with soda or even diet soda and feel completely safe and healthy? My grandfather drinks tea instead of water all his life and he's over 90. Nobody ever questions this drinking as unsafe, unhealthy. Can the same be done with soda?
  • That's oversimplification to the point of being wrong! It's not just a meal timing thing. In fact timing is rather inconsequential, not the main factor. People can have completely different timing, timing of their choice. To me the biggest factor is the training and conditioning of the body to stop asking for food all the…
  • This is my kind of thinking also. It'd take some conscious action to down 300, 500 calorie worth of veggies or hard fruits or fruits with skin and seed. And let's be honest most people don't get overweight mainly by overeating vegetables. That said, many people still need to count vegetable, fruit calories due to their…
  • In this case, tea drives your addictive behavior. But how often is something addictive for everyone? Alcoholic addiction is real but it's no more appealing than a diet coke for me.
  • :) I always like your style of posting. Easy breezy. When I was counting I made my life easy by counting only the protein, the starchy carbs and the sweets. I ignored green veggies. I counted all dressings as 50 calories. Made things quick and importantly consistent. Worked well losing 15+ lbs in couple months. :)
  • A 301 gram cucumber is 47 calories. Do most people eat more than 5 to get over 250? That's assuming you know exactly the amount you burn that day to consider it "surplus". Just eat 2 cucumbers and walk a pet. :)
  • If you've hit your calories for the day and then (try to) eat unlimited celery and cucumber, would you still gain weight? :) Point is, it depends on the kind of veggies. Use common sense.
  • You cannot feel full if you split your measly allowance into several meals. This is why fasting, eating light and keeping busy with other fun things to save up the calories for a big, serious meal is easier for many. You won't miss out on that full feeling. I don't have that binge urge either since my big meals are…
  • Same for me. For example I could allow myself to enjoy as much bacon as available but these days I make myself feel averse to it by recalling how salty it tastes or imagining all the heart clogging effect. I rarely eat bacon anymore even when it's readily available in brunch. Not sure if I'm missing out or suffering…
  • I suspect as much. A quick research on anorexia shows a long list of complex symptoms, diagnosed by qualified professionals. But leave it to Interweb people to pain it with a broadest stroke as "all it means is that you dramatically reduce your food intake ..." ...uhh...ridiculous. I'm not surprised that such tendency in…
  • Well, that doesn't mean much though as my experience is completely opposite and I'm not seeing any adverse effect other than the positive result that I could control my eating behavior very well.
  • This is why I said people are quick to judge. I didn't say "feel bad about food". Specifically I meant instead of feeling bad the next day, which is basically useless, feel bad the moment when you are about to commit the behavior. Quoting is supposed to help.
  • Sigh. Seems like a lot of things are possible these days. I would think the basic of deterring an adverse behavior is to recall its consequence. That's how kids are taught, how people function and shape their behaviors. No one is going around automatically knowing mistakes. It just seems ridiculous to leap from doing…
  • Let me try to understand you correctly. You know first hand of people who have gone from overweight to being anorexics? That's a very long distance to go, or even if possible. You may aim for the moon but likely all you can reach is the hill and you know you are on the hill if it happens. However, the continuous,…
