That's very confusing! Not everyone fits one number, but that's why there is a range, no? And, you would be "overweight" (while in normal BMI) according to what standard? Just curious.

Ladies, Just hire a housekeeper and pay them with the husbands money. Such a small issue! :)

I think in a free country like the US, "forbidding foods" is something that's nonexistent. Very strange premise to begin with.

I gave up eating ALOT, eating at the amount that causes wt gain. I'm sure we all have to give that up. :)

Wow you sound very sad and scared and you are doing things that seem worrying to me. Taking tablets, drinking excessive water, stressing out, scared of eating? It's not healthy to go through life afraid of eating. You are setting yourself up for failure, just a matter of time before stress becomes unbearable. My advice is…

What made you quit before? What exactly is " the way I eat is what keeps me from losing weight"? Start thinking about your problems and address them all. Then, weight loss will happen by default!

That's the concept I'm following also. You bet it's effective and feels most natural. I eat (and gain) then fast to lose all the gain. Repeat. In this approach I could eat normal amounts or a lot. My version of fasting is eating "light", egg boiled eggs, egg white, fresh veggies, until all the gain is reversed.

I can overload on nutritious foods and become unhealthily overweight also, so that doesn't make solely focusing on nutrition the holy grail, does it? You probably mistook me for one of those only interested in arguing, protecting their own way; and you didn't exactly answer how you track your eating amount. It'd be…

I have a sneaky suspicion that lots of strict calorie counters do not include a donut in their day. Maybe one every two week or even less frequent. :) Donuts are too calorie dense and don't seem to worth the calories!!!! Tell me I'm wrong, daily donut eaters! :)

Every morning. It is what it is.

Flavored yogurts from Yogurt Land, Fruiti Tuiti. I can eat the biggest tub of them topped with a gazillion different toppings.

"What's not to like!?" Definitely the mortgage payment for a tiny home nearby if I ever manage to have one. :) But you are right. I LOVE being at the beach for whatever reason. Sadly my wife is very anti driving, anti minor inconvenience so we stopped going.

OP, so what's your strategy of keeping your amount of eating in check? How exactly do you focus on nutrition?

Wow the consensus is treadmill sucks! I dread running or walking in the street though, due to traffic, uneven pavement, dogs and dust. The treadmill gets the job done but I agree it's quite mind numbing boring. I set up a TV in front and it helps a little. A little trick I do with my mind is once I get into the usual speed…

If this is a repetitive thing, I would go back to the table and redraw my plan. It's crazy to keep doing the same thing and hope for a different result.

You should print out this post, highlight the part about how you feel and post it on your fridge or anywhere you usually get your foods. Your problem is you tend to quickly forget this feeling you have written here when there are foods in front of you.

I know this isn't an answer to your question, but have you thought of prioritizing your food choice instead of struggling to make this kind of decision? Specifically, you could easily reduce or skip one or two bland, unimportant meals and create enough calorie deficit for you to enjoy many times your coffee the way you…

Another option is learn to sew! Some alteration is quite easy and fun to do. We're losing the basic life skills. :)

OP, you don't need to weigh everything that goes into your mouth if you find it tedious. You will fail if you are forcing yourself. Instead, you can put your effort into rationalizing, realizing that you DON'T HAVE to eat when you are feeling fine. Feeling a bit of empty, craving is fine. You literally cannot run into any…

Oh man, these posts gave me a chuckle. :) 2 cookies. Enjoy every bite. Life is too short. Hehe

Assuming you know what you are doing, under eating calories for one or two days is quite beneficial. It's what a lot of fasting practices follow.

Tomorrow is a new day. Today is ..well..Father's Day and a treat day. You can do it! I've put on 7 lbs since Friday. You have it easy with 2 lbs :) Don't worry.

Counting will do that to you. :) I started to see every food as number. It affected my mood, my enjoyment with meals. My way of dealing with this problem was I stopped counting. I developed a different approach. I don't know if you could stop counting altogether. "Not for everyone" thing!!! I don't know if you could reduce…

This post could have been written by me. It identifies how my body "feels" and my approach to eating. Funny thing is..I bet Larissa_NY and I are probably world apart (background, location, gender..) but this goes to show that two persons, however different, could be very alike in "weight" behaviors. @Larissa_NY, I'm just…

OP, there's absolutely no requirement to eat that 300 calories left if you are feeling fine. The body is far capable of managing even more surplus / deficit than that, within days. Generally speaking, eating just for the sake of meeting xxxx amount daily tends to be detrimental than beneficial. It might start your appetite…

If you don't make it hard, there's nothing needed to "drive" you. 10 years ago I followed weight watcher point system. I was much ignorant than now. I succeeded in getting to the top normal bmi range (for a few weeks), but it was unbelievably hard so I inevitably failed and put back the overweight lbs.

In the early days, I use to keep coffee and nuts by my side so I could deal with the boredom snacking urge, useless cravings and unnecessary hunger. I also had other strategies such as focusing on work, other interests, the benefits of wt loss. These days I just go about my days not having to put much effort in controlling…

I'm the type that for better or worse I want to know. On some level it's facing fear and nobody likes it. I'm too impatient to wait weeks if I need to correct something. So, I weigh and record daily.

That is great. My approach is kinda like that, too. " eat when I am hungry" and you may want to add pay attention to energy level. There's no reason to eat like a construction worker when your work is behind a desk!
