I tend to get surprised by how few calories restaurants serve. Naturally I want to get the most food for my hard earned $$$. I usually think at this price I could easily make 3 quality meals at home. :) When I am at buffets I always try to eat as much as possible, obviously. Foods are good, are fuel and aren't free, if you…

Dude, it doesn't have to be willpower all the time. It can be change in mindset, revelation, exposure to new experience. For example, go through an open heart surgery and you will never look at bacon the same ... It takes no effort to avoid bacon.

Just curious, do you select what you eat for satiety for all the meals (every time you eat)? Or only for some of the meals? I imagine having that filter on all the time is going to affect one's decision to go out and eat with friends, etc. You would always have to judge which is mentally straining to me.

May I ask how tall are you and what's your waist pant size? Not directing at you, but I wonder if there's such a thing called skinny fat. Well, there's fat looking muscular.

It's not controversial to me. In fact most people who fail losing weight because they cannot tolerate some uncomfortable feeling of hunger. There are different kind of "hungers". There's the kind that is detrimental to health but there's also the kind that feels kinda nice. You may get the kind of hunger that energizes you…

You don't need to tell me. It's zyxst that you need to explain it to. LOL.

In fact, lots of things "taste" better than eating to millions of people who are fit, skinny. Millions are much more into the pleasure of power, wealth, traveling, etc. than that of eating.
-
Yes, we have very different interpretations. To me It's very extreme and illogical to advocate "don't eat". Not eating is not possible for any moving living thing. Don't know why you take it that far. Besides, it's the word "taste" which is a state of mind. I take it to mean being fit should come as a higher priority. If…

Thanks. I'm good with caffeine. Do you feel any effect taking 200mg L-Theanine alone? That's what I'm thinking of doing.

In the context of curing disordered eating it's a great quote. I hate the contradiction of struggling to lose wt and promoting eating (that induces excessive) at the same time. That's disordered thinking, too.

I'm interested. What mg do you use? And your weight?

This is where privately owned restaurants come in. My friends and I used to come to this one Mexican restaurant where I ordered "meat only" burritos. It was basically only greasy beef bits wrapped in a large tortilla. I was surprised when my friend showed me we could order like that! That was back in college and calories…

Or learn fasting which has many parts opposite to kshama's suggestion. Fasting works for hundreds of millions or billions of people who undergo migration, religious rituals, economic hardships, etc.

Are there donuts in Australia? A donut and black coffee in the morning...that's life!

Try some mild energy drinks like Emergen-C or Nune tabs. They give me a bunch of energy.

they should be ashamed of what? Carls Jr burgers are from visible fire grill, not like McDonald's from metal containers.

I see the chart coming. Seriously, you also need to keep up your activity level. Lots of people start to lower their activities when they are eating less without knowing. Good luck.

While I support and understand the need for calorie counting, I also want to point out that this 100% thing is completely unnecessary. If it's required there won't be any thin non counters. I'm honest with myself about where the real challenge of dieting lies. It's not in the accuracy of calories. It's all in the…

I do but I keep an eye on my performance. Like today which is a light meal day for me I'm going to play an hr of competitive tennis with my friend. I've had only a coffee this morning but I had a decent size dinner last night. It's not possible to have any adverse effect. I could perform physically much better if I was to…

Some of them bring a scale along whenever they go. Office, restaurant, relative's, friend's and inquire the host about the food if necessary. I used to cringe when I first heard this but after some reevaluation I think it makes sense. Wt loss is too tough and health is too important. I'm all for whatever necessary to…

I admire those who do "batch cooking" for the entire week. You folks must be very easygoing to tolerate reheated food. Somehow my wife doesn't mind cooking fresh everyday. She doesn't think it's work when hunger is her motivation.

By all the things listed above, I would only microwave water for tea. LOL. (that's actually all I do in the lunchroom. any food that's not mine tends to stink.)

If he's not eating enough calories but not losing weight either, is he hitting that starvation thing where the body hangs on the weight? Could those who suggest he eat more explain?
-
I second this. It's actually quite easy with "$13.30 for three days of food" if you are a little creative. Wait until after 8:30pm for rotisserie chicken to become half price. Cabbage, celery, loose carrots are like 3lbs a dollar. Look into the section called Manager's Deals.

Do what my wife does. Blend them all up in a juice and take less than 10 second to gulp down. A visually big bowl of salad makes very little drink.

If you have trouble functioning without a breakfast, then eat a breakfast. Otherwise, don't eat one to save the calories for a more substantial, more satisfying meal later. The more satisfying meals you have the easier it is for you go long term.

Chocolate and sometimes a mixed margarita. I got a lot of good chocolates from the holidays. At my rate it's gonna take over a year for me to finish them.

Since I reached my maintenance weight I only have added more food items. LOL. Specifically it's the alcohol group. It's more and different beers and wines. Some evenings can feel pretty long and that's where the drinks come in. It's only natural that the healthier one gets, the more he/she eats with a healthier appetite.…

OP, imo, you failed with sticking to success because your approach was incomplete and/or it was past the point of tolerable. You are right. It's not willpower. It's unreasonable to call on willpower all the time. Success in this endeavor is simple. Your approach has to be complete and able to accommodate any contingencies…

That's one of the two ways. The other being you increase your exercise but it's impractical for most people. I eat light from Mon to half Thur so I can be with family, friends all the way with the eating and fun Fri to Sun.
