  • No monthly goals as such for me just working towards my yearly goal of 5000 miles Nice 50 mile ride out yesterday with the Sunday Social group making the most of the weather, although I seemed to be the only one brave enough to get his (shockingly pale) legs out. Fortunately I'm behind the camera so you will all be spared…

  • We all start somewhere, it's not about speed or distance it's all about getting out, enjoying the fresh air and the ride

  • I'm 5ft 8 currently at 140lb and really struggling to maintain. I cycle and run a lot and despite wearing a heart rate monitor when I train to try and keep an accurate account of the calories I'm burning I can't get the balance right and I'm still dropping. The easy solution is to eat junk food but then I yoyo up and down…
  • I use the Garmin Vivosmart which has a built in HR monitor, I went for this mainly because I use a Garmin forerunner running watch and an Edge cycling computer but it seems on par with a Fitbit. It pairs with my phone and auto syncs when you open the Garmin Connect app and links to Myfitnesspal.
  • Core strength exercises will help also there are a lot of specific running forums that would be able to give some really good advice. I'd agree with the post above going to specialist running store and having a gait test and getting fitted for the correct shoes helped me no end after I was getting pain in the medial…
  • That's semantics and being unnecessarily obtuse. It was clear as day he was asking that if people who eat at maintenance all week and then add cardio on top of that will lose weight. You can go on about definitions but it doesn't detract from the posters original intent which you have ignored and belittled with your…
  • Wahoo Tickr will pair with most modern smart phones and the Strava App
  • And you are kinda missing the point. Yes you need to consume less calories than you expend otherwise the body will convert the calories consumed into fat stores. The thread title is cardio isn't for fat burning....this is not true cardio does 'burn fat' and you can make the body more efficient at doing so by training at…
  • This isn't strictly true by doing cardio at the right intensity you can essentially train your body to utilise it's fat stores and oxygen for fuel rather than burn off it's limited sugar stores. Also by improving your aerobic ability you can go faster/harder for longer using less energy EDIT: And this is completely out of…
  • If you are always feeling hungry you are eating the wrong foods. You can eats loads and loads if you pick the right things but this means a change in habits.....no more ready meals, ditching the pre-packaged snacks and learning to cook from scratch with no more hidden sugars or fats. It soon becomes habit doesn't take long…
  • I have the same issue, on a 64 mile ride today Strava says I burnt 1898 Kcal and Garmin connect says over 3000kcal. I only want to use Strava for Runs and Rides but I use a vivosmart to track steps. Is there really no work around other than to delete the duplicate activity?
