  • I wonder if the food has like, 10,000,000 calories in it like some of their "healthy" smoothies. It's amazing how many people tell me they like to go there because it's good for you.
  • 99% of the time, they give you more than what the label says. They do this to avoid getting into trouble for shorting you. There have been a few companies who have had class action lawsuits brought against them for shorting consumers from what it says on the package, so they simply give you more to make sure you a getting…
  • If your activity level is set to sedentary, then I'd definitely count that walk to work as additional calories to eat. Maybe not eat them all back, but 70%-80% of them should be fine. You're burning calories and thus, need to replace them. That is, if your activity level in MFP is set appropriately.
  • Have you weighed your food your whole life? Portion sizes on packaging is incorrect 99% of the time and you're likely eating way more than you think. Eating noodles, rice, soups, yogurt, eggs, meats... Anything of that nature needs to be weighed as it's NEVER accurate to the packaging. Eating at a calorie deficit is the…
  • I have a Garmin VivoActive. I've been using it for months now. I have my activity level set to sedentary in MFP, so my current calorie needs should be about set for pure laziness mode. I'm currently set to maintenance and have been for a few months. I've been eating back all of my daily step calories for months now, that…
  • Artic Zero with a scoop of 0 calorie Walden Farms Marshmallow or Caramel dip mixed in is incredible and as good as most ice cream I've had and it doesn't increase the calories any. I've been doing it for a year now and it's amazing. I just wish the Artic Zero wasn't so expensive for a pint.
  • Cashew or almond milk, unsweetened but flavored with vanilla. So amazing in cereal and sooooooo much calorie savings. I haven't drank regular milk in about a year and I don't miss it at all. Cashew milk is soooo creamy and only 25 calories per cup versus 90 calories a cup of skim milk, or higher if you go with 1% or 2%.…
  • Easing into it slowly might help calm your fears too. When I moved into maintence, what I did at first was tell MFP that I wanted to be at maintenance, saw the calories it gave me and then set a custom goal about 75 calories under that and just ate at that tiny defecit for a couple weeks, to which I discovered, I was still…
  • First pic was back in Oct at 276lbs, right pic is about a week ago at 173lbs. Icky! That guy on the right gives me the willies.
  • I usually get the typical "OMG, you're too skinny!" Funny enough, I weigh 173lbs, currently, at 5'9". That is, in no way, too skinny. But, that's through no fault of theirs. They've just always been used to seeing me at 275lbs, so the change is quite shocking. Or you get the typical responses of "You need to stop", which…
  • Mine has always been low, usually in the 60s, even when I was heavier and out of shape. Now that I'm in shape, it's even lower. I was at my doc just last month and it was 52... He was even stunned it was so low but it always been.
  • Nothing pathetic about it. Everyone is different and has different measures of success. Good job.
  • Controlling carbs and sugar is completey unnecessary for 99% of the population, unless you have some extreme medical condition and have been advised by a trained medical professional to avoid both. Most people that go low carb and sugar have done so because they read about some fad diet, somewhere. 10-15 grams of sugar in…
  • That's awful!
  • Do you continue to track your food after you've hit your goals? Most people gain back because they simply go back to their old eating habits and get lax on what they eat. For a lot of people, especially people who have always struggled with weight, it needs to be a permanent lifestyle change. Myself, for example, I haven't…
  • I've avoided Quest bars simply because they're so ridiculously expensive everywhere I've seen them. There's so many protein bars out there that will keep you just as full for similar calories, ingredients and much cheaper.
  • It's definitely a weird feeling. I had been in 2XL shirts for the past ten years and size 38-40 jeans, when I went to buy a few new clothes last month, it was pretty stunning to realize I was trying on size 32 jeans and medium t-shirts. I totally get the feeling out of place emotions...
  • The only liquid I log is stuff with calories. I drink a lot of diet soda and I don't bother with that. 1-2 calories per soda isn't going to change my figure.
  • I look, specifically, for canned goods that say, no salt added. Why they add salt to things that are already high in sodium, I'll never know. However, I've found that by looking for canned items which say, no salt added, I have been able to shave sodium quite a lot. That said, sodium has always been awful for me. On an…
  • I just turned 35... I was 276lbs last October. I didn't ever think I'd see 200lbs again, let alone the 173lbs that I'm currently at. It's easily possible if you just pay attention to what you eat! Go for it!
  • You can, literally, work off a teaspoon of honey with five minutes of walking a couple blocks in your neighborhood. Don't sweat it.
  • I posted back in May when I was down about 80lbs.I thought that was pretty damn good, which it was. This week, I'm down 103lbs and hit my goal sometime last week. Now onto the scary part, maintaining... We'll see what happens. Lol! I started my diet change at the end of October, last year, so it's been roughly 10 months.
  • You should eat back some of them, although, you don't have to. Mfp sets you up to lose weight without exercise. Exercising will help you lose weight faster, though. However, if you do a lot of exercising, you may find yourself being hungrier during the day, which is why you can and a lot of times, should eat some calories…
  • I eat triple my sodium every day, no joke, been doing it for months. But I drink a ton of water. I hit the 100lbs lost mark last week.

  • You can get a gallon of regular milk for about $2.50-$2.99 where I live. A half gallon of almond milk is about $2.50-$3.00 for me, so it's definitely way more expensive here. I only buy it for my cereal, oatmeal and the like, cause it's way better on calories. I worry about getting protein from other sources. And more…
  • Have it whenever you want, so long as it fits into your calorie goal.
  • I end up saving calories throughout the day for this exact reason. That way, in the evening, I'll have 400-500 calories just sitting around if I feel like busting out a bag of microwave popcorn or the like. I stay up quite late, a lot of the time, so that doesn't help either. I feel it'll always be a battle for me. I can't…
  • At the end of the day, it's a calorie deficit that loses weight, regardless of the diet type. Unless you have some medical condition where you can't process carbs or fat properly. Go with whichever balance keeps you most satisfied. If you're super active, high carb may be the way to go, but doesn't mean you have to.
  • I changed my diet back in Oct and started using MFP in December. I haven't had fast food since Oct, not really because I was trying to cut it out, I just found I could usually eat a higher volume of more filling food at home, for less calories. I can't believe it's been almost a year. But, I'm down 95lbs, soooooo....…
  • They have a whole line. Some of their stuff is awful, mind you. Some of their stuff, namely, the caramel, marshmallow and chocolate dip is incredible, considering, it's 0 calories. A couple of small spoons of this, mixed with the article zero, makes it pretty incredible, and the caramel, even more so! And the caramel dip…
