Make sure you're drinking a lot of water when you increase your fiber intake

Be 60 in about 7 weeks - no mom jeans!

I'm 60 and live in jeans- just don't wear Mom jeans- (but I guess high waisted jeans are trending again....) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2aVxNH6iN9I

I like gadgets too! Today I will receive a new pedometer (I like to walk)- hoping that seeing what I am (or am NOT) doing motivates me to do more. I also like the app "Happy Scale" which keeps track of weight trends and has little motivators built in- little things to keep me moving forward-not for everyone but I like…

I love sweets- the more I ate them-the more I wanted. I think for some it truly is addictive. A little sugar is fine, but for me it is like a drug. An interesting film that some may enjoy is "Sugar Blues"- This was also a book written a few decades ago. Our bodies are simply not designed to process large amounts of refined…

chikady90- I too have Hashimotos (now controlled with medication), severe sleep apnea, and had other hormonal imbalances as well. These things make one feel exhausted and just generally unwell. I found it impossible to lose weight until I got these issues under control- you really need to have a sleep study done. Untreated…

I can buy a burger I consider fast food. It's made with a grass fed beef patty, fresh tomato, lettuce, avo, cheese, onion. Locally made sourdough buns. Add some bacon, or a free range egg as an extra splurge. ... Perhaps with a side of sweet potato wedges. What's garbage about it? You could eat a meal of steak, salad,…

I hate this idea, and the encouragement I've seen so often stated on MFP... "so long as it fits into your daily calories you can eat anything you want." If one is willing to stick to a weight loss plan, why would they want to eat lots of empty calorie garbage foods? I don't think this should be encouraged- it's…

No offense but...Is there anything right about fast food? Other than it's fast? I wouldn't encourage anyone to eat it- it's not "bad" it's just complete garbage.

I think it depends on what your focus is- some just focus on losing weight and eat whatever they want so long as it stays within their calorie range. Others focus on losing weight and eating really healthy as well. I am focused on both- I mostly stay away from sugar and white flour and anything processed. Just doing that…

First 3 weeks I lost nothing!- now I'm 7 weeks in and have lost 5 pounds- because of a current (but temporary) health issue, I'm not exercising at all either (just a few short walks). One thing I did do is change my macros to 30 carbs, 35 fats, 35 protein- I'm averaging 1400 cal a day - these ratios seem to work better for…

But isn't it better to question the answers?

As a non-skilled dancer, can't I still burn calories at this wild MFP party?

Moms are usually the caretakers, but putting yourself last is not good for anyone. It just creates resentment which I'm sure you already know. As long as you cater to them all they'll expect you to continue to do so and not even appreciate what you're doing. Cook healthy and add something starchy for the rest of them-…

Holy cow! These pics are amazing! Man- MFP has some lookers! B) You folks all look wonderful-thanks for sharing

a mushroom goes into a bar and asks, "do you serve mushrooms?" "nope," says the bartender- "we don't" "Why not?! I'm a fungi"

chocolate graham crackers by Honey Maid- 130 cal. for 2 sheets- crunchy chocolate treat (first time having the chocolate ones) love them!

I weigh myself daily- if I do it only once a week and don't lose I get too bummed out- rather see the fluctuations each day

My favorite machine so far has been an elliptical- but they have such a huge footprint! I used to have one but it just took up so much space I traded it for a recumbent bike (hate the damn bike). Thats why I thought I'd like the Free Stride- plus I need something that's super low impact (I'm older so knees aren't great)- I…

Hashimoto's Thyroid issue here too and post menopausal - yep it's harder to lose but I just expect it to be slow (.5 pound a week is good for me). I just try not to think of myself as on a "diet" - I've completely changed my way of eating for weight loss and health. I'm eating 1400 cal. a day- macros are 30 carbs/35…

Thanks so much for taking the time to give me this information- it's very helpful. There's so much out there it's hard to choose- I looked at treadmills and ellipticals and then I saw this and thought it looked really interesting. However, what you say seems very logical- so I need to think about this. I don't want to…

I get the Dave's thin sliced- 60 cal, 12 grams carbs, 3 grams fiber-organic- At my local markets it's with the regular breads

I am hypothyroid (on med for it)- but still find it really tough to lose weight- I've lost about 4 pounds but it's taken 6 weeks eating 1400 cal a day. (I cannot eat less and feel well) My partner has lost 15 lbs in this time frame- (yeah he has a lot more weight to lose, but it's discouraging nonetheless) So I guess…
