Agree with nutritional yeast, if added to something, scratches the cheese itch. Also, a fan of goat cheese... I add to grilled portabella caps, and it is very satisfying. And yes, eat the cheese. Always.

Hi Aly! :-) I have a hard time with the mental health stuff, which is a contributing factor to needing to keep an eye on my physical health (read- stop excessively gaing weight on medications) as well. They do really feed into each other regardless of the involvement of meds, too, though.

Yep, the other day I "needed" a 7 layer burrito from taco bell. 600 calories (half my daily allowance.) For one. I used to eat two, and maybe a side of pintos and cheese on top of that... Still totally worth it, but only very occasionally.

An aquired taste, for sure. I love the stuff, but I eat it a little at a time, because the flavor is so strong. I find it to be like oysters, but times a million.

I have found vodka soda lime to be good. And at home I use coconut or peach-pear la Croix, but I actually think those taste cocktail-ish on thier own :-)

@CrabNebula yeah, the hazelnut is superstrong for some reason. I worked in coffee shops for years, always used half the amount of hazelnut syrup in everything, unless they wanted more... @Noreenmarie1234 yes! Irish cream is the best. Close second is 1/2 blueberry 1/2 caramel... sounds weird, but everyone who asked for me…

I like cottage cheese on rice cakes. Also, now I put greek yogurt on just about everything.

Tempeh, seitan, nuts, yogurt, cheese, milk, quinoa, beans, beans, beans, beans... textured vegetable protein, nutritional yeast is wonderful on most savory things.

Love TJs. But the salsa in the refrigerator section is weirdly sweet and vinegary. And yeah, the sushi is pretty disappointing. But so much love for them in general.

I love salmon, but find the smell of it cooking puts me off... unless I poach it. Defrost first, make sure you season the water you are using to poach it (usually I use lemon, onion and garlic) Then I will put together a "sauce" based in greek yogurt. So much protien and so yummy.

This hit home for me in A LOT of ways. Not the same bad circumstances, but similarly bad. I just got to the part where I am not wallowing anymore. You are an inspiration. It was a wonderfully beautiful gift for you to share your story. I am rooting for you!
