Here is my simplest explanation- You need materials to build anything, this includes muscle. You couldn’t add another room to a house without buying new materials right? Hammering on the existing walls all day long without the materials wouldn’t build anything new. It’s similar with building muscle mass. Your body already…

I’m happy that treatment worked so well for you. To be clear though I wasn’t judging anyone. I was sharing my experience. For me I still have to eat less than other women my age, height, and activity level despite treatment. It’s not substantially less but enough that I’m aware. That isn’t good or bad - just my reality…

I have treated my thyroid disease. Even with treatment I find that I burn 200-300 calories less than any calculator has estimated. I also retain fluids easily and bloat up regularly, sometimes by as much as 10lb over night. Add to that the fatigue and joint pain that can get in the way of activities and yes you can…

I think it’s also important to mention that while keto can be a great plan for some it can also be dangerous and unhealthy for others and people should check with a doctor before changing their diet so dramatically. For me, when I did LCHF I got gallstones. I love eating a higher fat diet and find it much easier to…

I changed my body shape through weighlifting - now I get to eat even more of the foods that I love (including pizza!) and don't feel restricted. I'm in maintenance and never went keto. I'm glad keto worked for you but please know you will lose however you create your deficit regardless of food choices and body shape…

I drink 3-4 cups of coffee a day and reached maintenance

I started peri very young (35-36yr old) and am 39 now. Symptoms are increasing. I have been able to reach a healthy weight though without peri affecting it. I just stayed in a deficit and am pretty active outside of my job. My main symptoms have been hair and skin issues, constant cramping like the day before your period,…

After a really rough day only two things ever really help me 1. Deep cleaning 2. Getting on the heavy bag boxing

I crave sweets at night so I like to keep the bite size five chocolates in my night stand. They are pre-wrapped portion controlled for me and I don’t have to give up my nightly treat before bed

I found tracking steps very helpful when determining my activity level

Sorry...sometimes I can’t help myself

Obsession is disordered thinking. When the obsessive thoughts interfere with your ability to enjoy regular day to day life it becomes a form of self harm. That isn’t healthy. I hesitated on commenting but decided I should. Please feel free to add me if you ever want to chat. I’ve dealt with addictions since adolescence and…

I lost close to 2 sizes after losing 80lb

I think a lot of people enjoy nights out with things like pizza, drinks, and dessert and still lose weight. As long as you consume less than you burn that’s all that matters. I personally work out 5-6 days a week. I lift weights, take Jazzercize classes, boxing, and trail running. I also have a desk job during the day and…

For me I found this site after gaining around 30lb back. I had initially lost just over 80lb and maintained for 3yr before gaining any back. It happens. My life changed dramatically in a year. I switched jobs becoming less active and moved in with my now husband who is a chef so I was eating more with him and enjoying his…

I’m pear shaped and always lose weight on my upper half first. My hips and thighs is the last place I lose and first place I gain.
-
I joined this site with 30lb to lose and it took me just over 2yr. I did it slowly and broke it up with some bulk/cut cycles to add more muscle along the way.

I agree that getting help is important. I’m a recovering bulimic. I gave up purging before I could stop binging. It’s hard. I’ve done outpatient treatment and EDA meetings. If you ever want to message I’m here. Sometimes it helps just knowing others have been there and found a way out.

I hate bananas personally but eat a lot of avocado, spinach salads, and potatoes which are all excellent sources of potassium

You say you’ve had various FitBits. This stands out to me because each time I’ve upgraded my device (about once every 12-18mo) it takes about 3-4mo of consistent tracking to adjust and get more accurate for me tracking stride, auto detecting workouts, calories based on weight, etc. How new is the device you use now?
-
I’m really not sure then. My FitBit has been very accurate for me estimating burns. I don’t log any activities though in any apps. I let it auto detect and track, which I personally find more accurate. Also the longer you wear it the more accurate it seems to become. I run a 5k a few times a week at a 9:30-10 pace and…

When was the last time you adjusted goals for your updated lower weight? Apologies if this was asked already

Fruits, fresh cut veggies, nuts - all great nutrient dense snack options For workouts - start by finding something you enjoy that gets you more active

I’m 39. I started lifting and boxing at 36 and it changed my life. Before then I’d mostly stuck to Pilates and hiking. Recently though I fell in love with Jazzercize- one of my lifting buddies teaches twice a week. I’m also lifting and boxing less as I’ve had some health stuff and it hurts to do right now. I love Shaun T…

My weight is heaviest in the morning regardless of whether I use the bathroom or not. I weigh the least just before lunch. I’m not sure why but I recognize and accept it as my body’s pattern.

I also have a wheat allergy but my reaction is nothing like yours. I get hives and stomach cramps. Being gluten free and wheat free can be simple. I eat a lot of lean meats, veggies, eggs, fruit, and rice

I never got rid of mine completely. I have some crepe skin from pregnancy and losing a lot of weight my first time around that will always be there. As a man though I’d expect yours to go away more as you get leaner

Name: Sara How long in maintenance: Just transitioned back to maintenance in March Goal maintenance range: 150-155 Current weight: 158 Height: 5’7.5” Current goal: Get back in range before my anniversary May 27th, preferably 150lb Recent success: I have had some recent health/injury issues that reduced my workout ability…

I love my buff bake gluten free protein cookies but I couldn’t even imagine eating a supplement at every meal. It’s a supplement so I use it when I’m low on protein that day or craving something sweet but want to also make sure I grab something that will help me reach goals. I stay fit eating a balance of whole foods with…

Approaching 40 and really feel closer to 30. I’m in much better shape than when I was younger and have a new found level of comfort in my own skin that I didn’t have before. Fabulous 40 here I come!
