Mine has been accurate for me

I have muscle imbalances in my lower body and am likely getting referred back to PT next week but what my last PT told me was to do single leg exercises to balance letting the weaker leg be my guide doing the same exact weight and reps on each side until it felt equal. It had gotten better doing this but not substantially,…

I’m not sure everyone can make it work though and have it be good for them. I know for me it would require sacrificing sleep (I can’t walk by my house so I’d need to drive somewhere then come home to get kids to school before work) that I need and replacing my weight sessions with additional cardio which doesn’t align with…

While I agree with the other comments sudden unexplained weight loss is a reason to talk to your doctor. If you were genuinely eating at surplus during your bulk and still lost weight you should be seen.

You all are inspiring me to up my game!

This formula is spot on for me

I found the MFP exercise estimates really high. I’m glad I have my FitBit with HR because it’s been much more accurate for me. Example - slower pace (for me) 5k run the other day at an average speed of 10:30 min per mile and I burnt around 300 cals. MFP would give me around 450 calorie burn for the same run

That’s an average of walking 15 miles a day! My husband is a chef on his feet all day and averages 15-20000 steps. He will hit 25000 on the days he runs instead of lifting after work. I can’t imagine consistently getting more than that, especially with a desk job. I have a desk job and average 8-9k. Twice a week I run…

My weight fluctuates around 4lb depending on the time of day I step on the scale. I’ve seen it go up in a few hours eating and drinking nothing in between. I personally like seeing those fluctuations because it helps me not take the scale so seriously

I’m 5’8” and 39 years young. My happy place weight is anywhere 145-155 (puts me in a size 6/8) for my body. I’m pear shaped and when I get much lower than that my upper body isn’t attractive to me because it’s much thinner than my lower half. Ideal weight is really a matter of preference. Also, what activities you do plays…

136lb is a lot! The one at our gym is 45lb...same as the standard BB without any weight added

Animals get weird this time of year - it’s calve season and in my area pup season. They are all hormone crazy. I had a very territorial coyote almost attack me this morning on my normal trail who I suspect was guarding pups nearby. Bright side - you probably hit some peak heart rate time! I know I did lol (I also got an…

You can’t spot reduce. I have to lose about 20lb before I see any change in my thighs.

I also have Hashimoto’s. I ate an autoimmune paleo inspired diet for years. It did help me feel less bloated and I think my sleep cycles were more regular but it became too restrictive for me. I’m also in recovery for an eating disorder and find elimination diets very triggering. During that time I ate a lot of lean meats…

Love this post!! I just got back from Vegas and I’m up a few pounds (a few above maintenance range actually) but it’s no big deal. I know most, possibly all, is water weight. My plan is to re-*kitten* after a week and if I’m not back in my range I’ll return to a small deficit until I am. It was a great trip and worth every…

The two most important things I’ve learned and shifted thinking around are / 1. All things in moderation. Obsessing on certain foods or beating myself up for a treat made me miserable and set me up to fail and give up every time. Now I eat/drink whatever I want whenever I want. You don’t need to be strict with yourself to…

As someone who had been hospitalized for an electrolyte imbalance I second this. It was a horrible experience. Over hydration was a big contributor to this happening.

Eating Disorders Anonymous also has free online support group meetings based on 12 step recovery for those of us who struggle with eating disorders. Finding support and safe places to share is crucial for recovery in my experience. Congratulations on making it this far ❤️

I just celebrated 5yr purge free and I still get the urge sometimes. I don’t think it will ever be gone completely. I’m not always sure what triggered the urge or really if anything had to trigger me for it to happen. I have found ways to cope though and get through it without acting on the urge. Please feel free to add me…

I hit goal recently and rebounded when I switched to maintenance. I’m giving it a few more weeks and if it doesn’t balance out all go back to a deficit to lose another 5-10lb

Yes, I lost a little over 80lb about a year before meeting my now husband. I only dated two guys before him so I didn’t date a lot. It was hard at first to start dating again but that goes away. I was very self conscious about my loose skin on my stomach (still am) but didn’t really get any comments about it. Honestly if…

I’ve gotten the “you don’t need to lose any more weight because you are thin” but that’s it. It started when I was just above a healthy BMI and about 10lb from goal

I have Hashimoto’s and I am GF but I’m GF because of a wheat germ allergy. Eating that way makes avoiding the allergy easier even though technically I can eat the other grains. It didn’t change my thyroid symptoms at all when my eating changed but I did finally get rid of the hives that had been recurring for a decade.

Some medications can cause water retention which will make the scale weight increase. Some will also slow someones metabolism rate slightly so they may burn a little less doing the same activities that they did before. CICO still works though. Once you figure out what you are actually burning if you consume less than that…

I lost just over 80lb without counting calories and maintained it for 3yr before I started gaining it back. My lifestyle changed a lot and I gained back 30lb in a year. I found counting calories to be really helpful in figuring out how I’d gained some back and how to not to that again.

If you’re menstruating right now than not losing weight at the moment is normal for most of us, even a slight gain around this time due to water retention is completely normal. I typically gain 4-7lb the week leading up to my cycle and it doesn’t disappear until the last day of it.

Very slowly. I came to this site with 30lb to lose and it took me two years - about 15lb a year. If it wasn’t for trendweight I probably would have given up. Seeing that line move down despite fluctuations was reassuring that I was on the right track
