Thank you megemrj!!!

I feel the anxiety all the way from here. Try not to fret too much. If you maintain your determination the good results should/will follow. (That's what I'm telling myself right now, since I seem to be stuck at the same scale reading for the past 3 weeks -- keep gaining and losing the same 2 pounds week after week ...)

Kate, I feel! As mentioned above, I somehow ended up aging 2 lbs this week, despite sticking to my FD and NFD calorie limits! I will take comfort in reassurances from mama and flumi that it's probably water weight gain, but somehow I doubt it. I'm going to do my best again this week and hope they are correct!

Glad to see everyone still in there trying. Me too. This has been my first "disappointing" week on 5:2 (started mid-March). After successfully completing my second FD this week, I woke up yesterday to find I'd gained nearly 2 lbs! Not thrilled. Today I'm down 1 lb, go figure. This will be a challenging week for me --…

You are too modest.

Flumi you are so active! I am impressed. I should be jealous too, but I hate exercise too much for that. Today I am just a bit more than 10 lbs down from my 5:2 starting point one month ago. Goal this week is to keep going and to continue reducing sugar and artificial sweeteners in foods. Haven't had a Diet Coke in a…

Mama, I'm on the last day of my first month on 5:2. Ringing in under 500 cals on 8 days of those 4 weeks, and was at or under my TDEE on all the other days. I'd say it's been pretty painless so far, and I'm thinking I can keep this up in the long long run. My success to date has been much supported by all of you posting in…

Glad you're pleased with the Atlas. It will be so nice and customized just for you very soon. Such a cool product. Maybe you could drop a line to the team that makes it asking them to consider cross-functioning with Lifts etc in a future update?
-
How are you liking your Atlas?!!?
-
Yes here's an idea for you -- stop exercising!! Just kidding, of course, and I'm so impressed with all you're doing to be healthy! I personally hate exercise of all shapes and sizes, so I'm doing little of it. Makes it easier on fasting days for sure, though I know I'm going to have to start stepping it up (literally) very…

I'm with you on all that -- I'm really focused on the day-to-day, week-to-week, one step after another aspects. Too daunting to think of how far I still need to go; much easier and happier to look at the daily accomplishments. Between the 5:2 program itself and all the support and encouragement here, I think -- I know -- I…

I like the attitude, flossyruby and everyone else here -- it's very encouraging. I'm quite chuffed this morning. 6 fast days total under 500cals and the rest at or under my TDEE = down 8 lbs in 18 days. About 45 more lbs to go!

Pats on the back to us all. Just finishing my 2nd <500c day of the week. I'm one of those "weigh yourself everyday" types -- I'll go to bed early to ignore the tempting food in my cupboard tonight, then see what the scale says tomorrow.
-
Thanks for everyone's input. I think the m going to go ahead and get one soon (birthday coming up next month, and I've hinted pretty heavily in my husband's direction!). Sounds just about perfect for my needs.
-
Very good to know -- thanks to you both! I know I should wait a little longer to see if the 2nd gen version comes out (sometime later this year from what I've read), but I'm anxious to start using it now, not later!
-
You're prolly right. DDs here so I guess I'm on the curvier side.

I'm leaning towards buying an Apple Watch soon. I'm not a serious athlete -- heck, I HATE exercise -- but just want to get generally more fit and motivated. For those of you who've had the AW awhile, how do you like it now? Are you still using it?
-
SwimmyD, I'm interested in both! I'm 59 yo, 6'0" and need to lose ~50lbs (I think). Current weight is 229.2; BMI calculates at 31.1. I don't know what my target is exactly, but I'm going to try for ~175 and see how I feel there. I'm doing 5:2 intermittent fasting and liking it.

Starting my third 5:2 week today, doing my 5th FD. So far so good. Luckily my kids took their Easter candy with them yesterday when they went back to their colleges. As of this morning, before today's fast, I am down 5 lbs from my starting weight 2 weeks ago. I have a long way to go, but I'm determined so far. Thank you,…

Great! Good luck tomorrow.

Good job megemrj !

Hello ! Beautiful, happy horse flumi. Starting my second week on 5:2. Limited myself to 500 cals last Monday and Thursday, and kept a little under my TDEE the other 5 days. I was thrilled to see the scale showing my weight was down 3.2 lbs at the 1 week mark. Maybe water weight but I'll take it. Today is my 3rd fast day.…

Mmmm hflc cheesecake .... ;-)

Good for you (and your H)! I did my second FD yesterday. I felt hungrier than I did the first time, probably because my last meal before the second FD (dinner the night before) was a little light. But I made it through pretty well. This morning the scale showed 5+ lbs less than it did before I started on 5:2 (5 days ago).…

Fingers crossed for you both!

Krubbard, I'm very very new to this si feel free going ore me, but from what I've read so far, you should be okay so long as you don't stray any farther from the 500 cals today -- no exploding for sure! Boombalatty, I hope your cholesterol reading was a fluke. I thought this eating approach would have positive results with…
-
Don't give it another thought - you are on your way and will see results soon enough! I only hopped on the scale today out of curiosity. I expect to go up again when I eat my normal TDEE today. I will try to weigh myself only once/week, and not to be discouraged by anything I might see there, so long as I know I'm on the…

Congratulations to all the new 5:2ers like me! My first fast day went very well yesterday. I was a little tempted to carry on with the fast for a second day today since I wasn't very hungry this morning, and liked the tight/empty feeling i felt in my stomach when I woke up. But had a small breakfast anyway at the 39th hour…

Stay strong!

Good luck to us both, megemrj, on our first 5:2 days. So far I've had a cup of coffee with a little milk (about 40 cals total) and 5 cups of water. Hoping to put off any eating until dinner tonight, keeping to 500 cals or less. Lots more water too. Then nothing more until breakfast tomorrow. The afternoon will ever hardest…
