  • Love this! And congratulations to Lietchi on continued progress. This is day 1727 for me, and I've lost 114 lbs. My current BMI is 26.2, and while I'd love to get to 25 or lower, I'm maintaining well where I am.
  • Hi to all!! I've been around MFP since the end of 2015. I've lost over 100 lbs, gained about 10 lbs back over the last year and I'm working to buck the trend. I'd welcome more MFP friends!!
  • Do bootcamp workouts regularly, have done a slew of 5Ks, competed in Camp Gladiator Games and training for it again, done 3 mud runs (2 Tough Mudder 5Ks and 1 Terrain Race), wear white pants.
  • For me, being morbidly obese is super tiring, so I'll keep logging. But that's me. I clearly have a problem with food - that's how I got to be morbidly obese. Others do manage to leave logging behind. I can stop for a few weeks, but definitely do better if I don't, so I'll never stop completely.
  • My starting weight 3 and a half years ago was 266.8; I've lost over 110 lbs and kept it off for over a year. You're welcome to friend me; my diary is not open at the moment, but from time to time it is. What worked for me was doing it slowly - losing a pound per week, even though many with that much to lose set their…
  • Just remember - this is a marathon, not a sprint! I started in January 2016; I've maintained a 110 pound loss since May 2018. You CAN do this! I set the modest goal of losing a pound a week because it gave me enough calories that I rarely felt deprived.
  • I think that's awesome! I don't trust myself enough to do that, but I would love to be able to do that!
  • If Couch to 5K seems too much, consider trying None to Run. I'm just finishing, and there's an awesome, encouraging FB group, too.
  • I totally get it - I've decided to maintain for awhile in the overweight range. My BMI hovers between 26 and 27. Congratulations!
  • I plan to keep logging my food, keep exercising, and keep weighing every day. It works for me. I lost it all before and stopped doing those things and gained it all back. I know better for myself. We each need to figure out what works. There may come a day that I don't have to log, but right now it keeps me safe.
  • I'm doing almost exactly that! I have my calories set 50 calories below what MFP gives me for half a pound loss per week Mon - Fri, and I eat at maintenance on Saturday and Sunday. I lost 2 pounds the first month I did that. I typically eat some, but not all, of my exercise calories back. I saw that someone didn't see the…
  • Chobani yogurt tubes - 50 calories and they make you feel like a kid. The whole milk version is so decadent and tasty.
  • Heading toward 800 days of daily logging with 110+ pounds lost - feel free to add me. I'm here for life.
  • I'm 5'4" and 154 lbs right now - still losing a couple of pounds a month at 1560 calories. I do 45 - 50 min of cardio 5x/week and eat a couple of hundred of my exercise calories back fairly regularly. I'm 51 and in perimenopause and still managing to lose.
  • I've lost 112ish pounds and would like to lose 10-15 more. I'm definitely planning on logging for life.
  • You're off to a great start!! 40 pounds, woohoo!! I'm a formerly morbidly obese 51 year old - I've lost about 110 pounds in the last two years. It's the second time in my life I've lost over 100 pounds. I had to do it again because I regained them. Like you, my weight is not a mystery to me - I love ice cream, pizza,…
  • You could do a smaller deficit. I find MFPs calculators to be pretty close to any others I can find.
  • It is true that metabolism slows down, but I think MFP takes this into account since it asks for our date of birth. Metabolism slows in both men and women as a normal part of aging, but the it slows gradually over time. Exercise helps combat this.
  • I think BMI is probably great for the vast majority of us. You are barely overweight - I plugged in your numbers and got 25.2; 24.9 would be normal. For you, that's 2 pounds. I'm 50 and have been morbidly obese for all but about 4 years of my adult life. I got down to 143 when I was in my mid-thirties, but never maintained…
  • I second all of that. I was swimming 3x/week during the summer and all of this really helped.
  • Thanks for all the comments! My doctor is actually OK with me landing in the "overweight" range - it's significantly better than morbidly obese. I like the idea of learning to maintain, then reassessing. I think I'll give myself another couple of months and see where I am.
  • I think weighing is easier and faster than getting out measuring cups/spoons. Not a knock on the OP - I think it's OK to estimate sometimes. People are always kind of harsh about that.
  • When I started I was 267 pounds at 5'4" and 49 years old. I lost well at 1830 calories and continued to lose well with the amount of calories MFP gave me to lose a pound/week, even without added exercise in the first few months. I know everyone here is quick to say that the problem can't be eating too little. I'm not so…
  • Breakfast 1 cup Fairlife chocolate milk with 1/2 cup of Chameleon Cold Brew Coffee Concentrate and a small banana -about 225 calories Lunch 1/2 bag Dole Chipotle and Cheddar Chopped Salad Kit, 2 oz Pico De Gallo, Chobani Apple Blended Yogurt - about 350 calories Dinner 1 cup homemade black bean soup with 2 T light sour…
  • I'm not sure why choosing to home school means that you have to denigrate public schools. I've taught in public schools for 25+ years and I've seen great teachers, good teachers, mediocre teachers, and very few teachers who were truly incompetent or cruel. The overwhelming majority do their very best every day to provide a…
  • OK, you are already amazing. You've lost 13 lbs in 5 weeks! You quit smoking and you understand how precarious that is for you - great self-awareness. You've got a lot going for you! I agree with everyone else who says you should consider raising your calorie level. It sounds like you may have set it there because you…
  • My Wahoo works great and was pretty reasonably priced. https://amazon.com/Wahoo-TICKR-Monitor-iPhone-Android/dp/B00INQVYZ8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1502291091&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=wahoo+heart+rate+monitor&psc=1
  • I'm not to maintenance yet, as I'd still like to lose 20 lbs. I've lost 100. This is the second time I've had a large loss - the last time was with Weight Watchers. I lost 130 lbs and made it to goal. Twenty pounds will take me back to that goal. I thought I would keep it off forever, but clearly I did not. So, for me, I…
