My doctor specifically told me that the reason I need to have four bleeds a year is because the uterine lining does continue to build up and therefore needs to be shed once in a while. It doesn't build up as much, which is why you can skip a couple months if you want.

I didn't time it that my period should be coming - I intentionally took it out 4 days early hoping that I'd get my period earlier than it would have been if I left it in the full 3 weeks. But, this is on the heels of a continuous use cycle in which I skipped my last 2 periods.

I technically didn't "finish" this ring, as it still had a week left on it, but I had been using full potency rings for about 2 months straight.

I should have been more clear - I was swapping the old ring for a new one on a 3 week cycle, instead of taking a week off. My doctor said it's fine to do that as long as I allow myself "4 bleeds a year". I assume it's ok to have taken it out "early", since I've been using rings without a break for 2 months.

I suppose it would have been helpful for me to have included here that I am a healthy weight and generally quite fit. I'm 5'5 and 130 lbs.

How long did your first period last after if came out and how soon was it after it was out? Mine came the next day and it's quite heavy! I got it out Tuesday and started my period yesterday.

I ended up getting my period the next day.. so crazy! But despite period cramps and discomfort, I already feel sooooo much better!!!

I got mine in October. I want this to work out so badly but I'm starting to think this is a failed experiment after all. I've always had painful periods but usually only 3 days of brutality and then a couple more as it cleared up.
