I have hashimotos and I gave up glutenand dairy and feel much better. You'd be surprised how much of your health lies within your digestional tract. Often food sensitivities and autoimmune diseases go hand in hand. It won't hurt you to give up gluten either way.

I have hashimotos. I do gluten and dairy free. But I didn't have swelling like that before I started. My stomach would bloat and hurt but nothing like you're talking about. I just quit it cold turkey. I don't like diet so no substitute there. It was hard at first but it's been a little over a month and I'm doimgbok.

My advise for quick results is to not aim for quick results. You don't have much to lose to get to your goal. I'd say do 1/2 lb to a 1 lb a week. You'll eventually get worn out doll. Plus obsessing over anything isn't healthy. Hang in there get a decent amount of exercise and try to make healthy choices.
