Basically, myth ... However I did read a study of people who lost and kept it off that said that the people who lost and maintained most successfully did eat breakfast. No causal mechanism was presented, just an observation about the data.

Oh! Yeah, those person above you posts . . . What's with that? Is it common in forums like mfp's. I have not seen this meme anywhere else. But then I don't get around much. I'd really like it if someone could explain.

You mean not everyone does this?:)

What nof60 said seems really dead on, all the way down the line. You will hear lots of people here saying that it is straightforward- calories in, calories out. Which is of course true. But there is a big difference between wanting to lose 20 - 30 pounds that crept up over the years and starting at 423. It will be more…

I have never drunk raw milk, so what is perceived as what makes it better than grocery store whole milk? Flavor? Nutrition? Just wondering. If I thought that milk was the panacea, I think I would want to start conservative and experiment with milk from the grocery store. But as I say, just curious.

Here's one thing I haven't seen in this thread (I admit I have read a lot of the posts but probably not all) - have you been ill? Taken a course of antibiotics during your plateau? Changed medications? Any of these things could influence metabolism. Just a thought . . .

The tables really don't take us very short people into account, do they? I am 4'10 but due to Spina Bifida am shorter than my general upper body size would predict. Despite all the warnings to Never! eat less than 1200, it is pretty clear that at some point I will probably have to aim lower than 1200. For now 1200 is…

I don't log anything with no calories, except my one-a-day vitamin, just to make sure I'm not going to get scurvy or some such. Also don't log lettuce, spinach, or mushrooms, because, well, it just seems ridiculous (I know, if I were fussing about every nutrient, I would, but I'm just worried about calories and keeping the…

I weigh every morning as soon as I get dressed (except for shoes). And log it. I like seeing the ups and downs. I wish I had the numbers in a spreadsheet so I could fit a curve . . .

I'll try for 140!

Slow swimmer, but hey I've got form. Really slow walker, being disabled. No one seems to understand why I don't like taking walks with others, but I just feel the whole time that I'm a drag on them. By myself, walking can be Zen-time.

I don't mind avoiding donuts, pizza, etc, but I make a rule that I will not not not eat anything that does not taste good to me. And some surprising thing are amazingly delicious. Dole sunrise grapefruit cups. Oikos triple zero yogurt - vanilla. Red bell pepper pieces with light ranch veggie dip. Raisins. Local blueberries…

Try this . . . https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/lifestyle/1980/05/29/the-ultimate-tuna-fish-recipe/be45d17d-c22d-43da-a128-3f35cd6bb528/ I made this dish back in 1980 when this article appeared in the post. Ha! Googling "beige et noir" pulled it right up. Gotta love the Internet.

Husband needs a weekly Chinese fix. We settled on sharing an order of moo goo gai pan. Hasn't done any damage so far. I get hot and sour soup for my appetizer and keep my hands off the crispy noodles.

This brings me back to my childhood, when my mother's idea of a good diet salad was iceberg lettuce with stale black pepper and white distilled vinegar. Oh! The horror!

I just tried oikos triple zero. Fabulous - vanilla, chocolate. Better taste than "simply 100". It is sweetened with stevia.

Generic one-a-day for women 50+, since I noticed how little iron etc I was getting from food.

I'm happy to have a reasonable estimate - just not 100 calories off :-). Thanks to all who responded

This is a wonderful resource - thank you!

Y'all do realize that weighing lettuce is about as anal as you can get?

Haha the balloon phobia reminds me of my eccentric cat faraday, who got really ticked off at the sight of someone blowing bubbles.

Any of you-guys still here?

At 65 she is presumably on Medicare; depending on her supplementary insurance, she may be eligible for free silver sneakers programs. (Or she could just join a gym that offers silver sneakers. ) silver sneakers classic is a 45 minute gentle workout combining cardio, strength, and stretching. My gym also has chair-yoga and…

For only 40 cals you can start with a tsp of extra virgin olive oil. Sauté onion, carrot, celery - whichever of these you have. When they have started to caramelize, add whatever other veggies are on hand. Mushrooms, squash, spinach..:. And tofu. Add some cooking spray if the are starting to stick. Season with mrs dash.

Can't imagine a bad way to eat eggs. Adore the yolks. Now that I'm doing the weight loss thing, I have them either just plain hard boiled or as egg salad with a minimal amount of Hellman's light mayo. Food of the gods.

Share an order of moo goo gai pan for the main course, with only the smallest amount of steamed rice. Hot and sour soup to start. Husband wants to go out at least weekly and this doesn't seem to do any damage at all.
