I also enjoy their roasted broad beans. I'll eat an entire bag: 300 calories, 45g carbs (with 15g of fiber!), 9g fat, 21g protein. The sriracha flavor is awesome. Speaking of a silly name, the broad bean crisps were recently re-branded as Bada Bean Bada Boom

Looks yummy! Do you oil the pan, use dry? About how long does it take to get charred?

Also, if you ever share a food you can never delete it from your personal foods which can be annoying sometimes... I like to keep things tidy, I have stuff I can’t delete that I haven’t eaten in 3 years.

The pasteurization of the liquid egg whites affects them. From America’s Test Kitchen...

@samiam4114 @kelly_c_77 Thanks for the feedback! I'll definitely report back. I pre-log a week in advance and just did so yesterday (and I'm too lazy to redo it), so its going to be a week+ before I get to it.

Have you made these? Anyone else? Have a few questions... Is the addition of the pudding mix just for the flavor or also for the thickening? He mentions using a protein powder instead of the pudding mix, have you tried it that way? How much? Same amount as the pudding mix? I can experiment on my own but hope some with…

Good note! Is there a preferred way to account for this difference? I'm guessing someone can take their estimated BMR and divide it by the number of minutes in a day (1440) then take that amount, multiply it by the number of exercise minutes performed, and subtract from the overall estimate?

It looks like MapMy... has updated their calorie calculations to be more accurate (yay!). There is a post explaining the change here... https://support.mapmyfitness.com/hc/en-us/articles/200118084-Why-Aren-t-My-Calories-Displaying-Correctly- I'm happy they made this change. Their old estimates were a joke!

To illustrate the bolded... I had a DEXA scan done in March 2018 and one done in October of 2018 (getting another one next week). In that time my lean body mass went from 182.4 lbs to 179.4 lbs (a decrease of 3 lbs). However, in that same period my strength increased. My chest press in 3/2018 was 164 lbs (calculated best…

The trick is to not think of it as rice. I use it a lot in place of rice to control my calories, usually any recipe that has a sauce. After I heat it up I squeeze out the excess water using a kitchen towel to prevent it from watering down the dish. This way it absorbs some of the sauce, works real well!

I have pretty much the same issue... have no problem falling asleep but wake-up multiple times throughout the night. If you can't figure this out on your own and if your insurance covers it, I would recommend having a sleep study performed... I am seeing a sleep doctor and have been using a BiPAP machine for a few years. I…

I always thought I was very introverted, but reading through these posts makes me think I may not be as hard-core as I thought! I make sure to always chat with the guy at the fish counter. Over the years we've learned a lot about each other (when he is out of a particular fish he knows I check the alternatives…

Well, someone did exactly as you say 2 posts above your last post.

It does, but it does not include heavy cream as an option.

It is easier to make the fluff with casein protein or one of the whey/casein blends (like Quest)... no ice needed. I’ve done it successfully many many times in a stand mixer with 60 - 70 grams of protein powder (I use Quest’s salted caramel flavor) and about a cup of water. Using the whisk attachment, whipping it for a…

With the caveat that all of this is just an estimation and a simplification, net calories burned by running and walking are distance/weight dependent, not time dependent. Use the following formulas... Running: Weight in Pounds X Distance in Miles X 0.63 Walking: Weight in Pounds X Distance in Miles X 0.3 See more here:…

I mist the popped corn with a little water, vanilla and sucralose - makes it like kettle corn... I’ve also used vinegar for more savory options.

(emphasis mine) I learned this lesson the hard way. I had congestive heart failure in 2015 due to uncontrollable high blood pressure. It was so high that the BP monitors couldn’t even read it! It landed me in the hospital for 10 days... Agree with @oklabecca here, if prescribed, take the meds and as your lifestyle changes…

Searched to see if anyone else reviewed these and only found your post from last year. Apologies if I missed others... Finally gave ONE Basix a try (Ibotta had a $0.25 back deal)... I had the triple chocolate chunk. NOT a fan! They are very similar to Questbars in texture, perhaps a little more "dry", and they use stevia…

It does allow you to set goals in grams in the premium version, however, as you are logging it still will up your daily goals by whatever the percentage mix may be when you are adding exercise calories.

Would love to hear the report! I’ve only have tried the FlapJacked and the MET-Rx pancake mixes... preferred the FlapJacked by far. What is your favorite of those you have tried?
-
I haven't tried them but was curious. I use the FlapJacked pancake mix almost every weekend. The nutrition is fairly close to these so was going to give them a try. But then I noticed the price! It's $15.99 for 11.76 oz. compared to $11.99 for 24 oz. of the FlapJacked (about $1.36/oz. vs. $0.50/oz.). It better taste…

Beat me to it! :D

No, they didn't say the goal was to find a snack that was compatible with that goal, they said...

Curious about how you use the sugar-free pudding mixes with Greek yogurt... what is your recipe/method?
-
Thanks - I bet you are right! 5.9 x 212.6 x 0.63 = 723 plus the 100 or so from the difference between net and gross would put it very close.

@erickirb Just got back from the gym. Ran 2.5 miles and walked 2.9 miles which totals about 520 calories using the formulas. Treadmill showed 924 calories and MapMyWalk showed 966 calories. Quite the difference!

Here in DC the cherry blossoms around the tidal basin are quite the sight... this year the National Park Service is estimating peak blooms between April 3-6. Getting close!
-
Yeah, I did enter my weight on the machine. My guess may have been off. I know I'm going to hit the treadmill again tomorrow - I'll be sure to check the number for sure then.
