You seem so motivated - best of luck! Logging your food and tracking your progress will be a great help to you I'm sure. As for the regional thing... where I'm from we use "our baby" to refer to the children of close relatives or close friends ... so talking to someone about their child sometimes I'll slip and say - so…

I'm hopeful after hearing from eveyone here that it'll go well. I've written down everyone's advice so I can refer back to it. Thank you!

Yirara thanks for posting and I'm sorry that you have been depressed recently. I hope that you are feeling better and thanks for taking the time to share your experience here. It's really useful.

Years ago I lost weight with diet only but no hairloss. However, had a very stressful period and wasn't eating much and my hair fell out - had a bald patch on the back. Took 4 months to kinda be covered and a year for it to look normal. My mom also had the same thing happen to her once during a stressful period. She was…

It seems like a huge number to me, as I've never been this big. Maybe after I lose some lbs I can adjust down.

Thanks for your help. Yes I have a food scale, would be so hard without it. I am physically able but unable to exercise due to previous back issues. So I can do light walking (say 2 x 20 minute walks per day), light weights at home and stretching, but for me - it's pretty limited to that.

40 lbs for me seems like a big number, I've never been this big. I understand that people have more to lose etc but for me, this is huge. I do want to see the weight move, plugged in the numbers as people recommended and MFP says 1200, so that's what I'll start with. If it gets too hard then I can always change it to 1lb…

Hi! Thank you for the good advice. I have to knuckle down on my numbers and see how it goes for a month at 1200 calories per day. I can only do limited exercise unfortunately. I have thought of looking for a nutritionist, but want to see how I go first.

Wow, great results! Congratulations. Were you at 1200 calories? How long did it take to get 67 and then to 55? What calories are you at for maintenance now.
-
Thank you for the information! This is very helpful and congrats on the weightloss!

Great advice - thank you!

Oh thank you for sharing and congratulations on all your hard work and results! I'm hoping that 1200 works for me too. As for the 800-1000, I can imagine that must have been hard. I have read some articles saying that a very low calorie diet of 800 (combined with fasting and mediterranean style eating) for a short period…

I see. The exercise thing is an issue, so if it's 1200 then so be it. Good point about the timeline!

Thanks for the advice, this sounds really great. We'll see how I go.

Thank you. Yes I've put them in honestly (?) or else why bother. As I said, was somewhat confused but everyone seems intent on clearing it up for me. Message received.
-
I set it to 1.5lb, so alrighty then, that seems to be right.

Sorry. Thought this would be a friendly place to get some information as different calculators have given me different answers. If I weren't confused/looking for advice, I wouldn't be asking here.

Thank you. I have looked and it gave me 1200 per day. Does anyone have experience with eating that many calories and losing steadily - esp women in 30's and 40's?

I have similar goals! Best of luck to you XO
